Wow - this was some of the best "fast food" that we've had in quite a while! I had the 1/2 salad with soup, and portions were generous. Pear & Blue Cheese Salad with Tomato Basil Soup - yum! My husband really enjoyed his soup & tuna sandwich....and he liked his same le of my soup so much that he got a bowl for himself! LOVE Croutons!! Haven't been here since I lived in Bend, but coming back after 8 years it is better than I remembered. I will miss the tuna melt, but I really liked the tuna salad flatini with chicken and wild rice soup. I like that you can pick two entrees. It's like Panera, but WAY better. Not only was the customer service amazing, the food was too. If you opted out for one thing they recommended things to put in or add more of so you still got a substantial sandwich at 0 cost. I loved the food and two sandwich's with drinks and a tip was about 31 dollars. For quality ingredients and food I would 1000% go again. It's nice to have a salad option in town where not every salad is $20, like so many other places here in Bend. Everything is generally pretty fresh. They also do a great job catering. Their parking lot is quite small, and it can be difficult to get in and out. Also, their phone line is perpetually busy during busy times, and it can be near impossible to call in an order. I'd love to see them figure out some type of system for ordering online. There's an option in their website but it's never worked in the 4 years I've lived here. read more

My friend and I were craving some good soup and salad on a cold afternoon, so we found Croutons which seemed to have everything we were looking for. We got: - Tomato Soup: when I called, the friendly staff said they always have this to offer. Thank goodness! This soup was amazing!! The flavor and the chunky tomato were perfect. We couldn't have asked for anything more. We sucked these down so fast, I forgot to take a pic... but hey, it's soup. - Greek Salad: good, but the kalamata olives or perhaps the dressing made it a little intense flavor-wise. Still, the lettuce and the rest of the ingredients were very fresh and crisp. - Chopped Salad: excellent and exactly what I was looking for. The salami and tender chicken were diced up in smaller bits which made it easier to eat and enjoy. Loved the cheese, loved the dressing. The salads were very filling, so much so, that neither of us could finish each of hours despite a 3 hour hike before. The tasty ingredients were generous, so we were very pleased despite past reviews. The price for all of this was pretty darn reasonable for how much you get. Both salads were a little dry upon pick up even though they were tossed (they give you the option of on the side or pre-toss upon pick-up), so thankfully I asked for an extra side of both dressings. They gave us large sides without an uncharge which was nice. Service was on-time, knowledgable and friendly. And everything we ordered was correct! I would definitely come back here. read more

I went here for the first time yesterday and probably the last. I ordered the pesto sandwich, and after a few bites I was questioning if I had Covid...it had nearly zero flavor. The ciabatta bread was bland, thick, and cold. This place reminds me of Panera except with bread that you can actually bite through. If you like Panera and bland food, give it a try. No patience required since the friendly and efficient staff here are the reason for a round up to 4 stars. Food 3 stars, location 2 stars, friendly staff 5 stars. NEW EAST SIDE SIBLING LOCATION TO ORIGINAL WEST SIDE If you're familiar with the original Bend Croutons on the west side (SW Century Drive) you'll find exactly the same menu here, salads of all kinds in two sizes, a few sandwiches and a few flatbreads, as on the west side . In fact, since Croutons East and its' westside sibling are part of the small (seven only) chain of the Southern California originated Croutons, the cookie cutter efficiency that comes with "fastish" convenience food chain formats applies here. Which is not a bad thing when it guarantees consistent quality. I've been not such a big fan of the original Bend location because my experiences there over more than a handful of years have been that it is sardine can tight for furniture arrangement and at times the salad ingredients didn't seem fresh. But this new Croutons location has a much better layout for tables and chairs in a bigger space letting you actually move from one point to another and salad ingredients seem fresh indeed. MENU Omnivores, vegetarians and vegans all will find items on menu to make them happy. There is a small kids' menu too. (Lots and lots of little ones present this week during Spring break.) And prices are as all Crutons, reasonable for what you get. As example, a large Sante Fe (one of the vegetarian options) salad that easily fed two clocked in at $6.95. ORDER TO NOSH TO BUS If you're not familiar with Croutons process, you stand in line to order from the nice folks at the counter from a menu posted over the the counter. Pay for your order. Receive a "table card" with a number on it. Choose a table (much easier here than the West location) and take your seats. Your food is delivered to your table. Bus your own when done. I APPRECIATE... ... in spite of the "fastish' food format here,Croutons serves their salads (and sandwiches and soup although those wouldn't be my choice here) in melamine like plastic bowls and dishes and not in disposable paper or plastic stuff. I ialso appreciate that they don't overdress their salads. Sound like small things, but for a chain they are good things for sure. BEING PREPARED A couple of hitches in the giddyeup you may want to know in advance: 1) No paper menus were available to peruse and the ingredient details lines below the salad titles on the menu board were small enough for text that some were struggling to identify ingredients and holding up the line in the process as the very nice counter folks were asked "what's in the...". 2) This building has very few parking spots in front. It used to be an assistive medical device store and the few spots were probably fine for that purpose. But for a popular eatery, the parking is dicey and the route through the lot, such as it is, is too. Not to mention cars are entering the lot from busy Greenwood Avenue. Be careful out there...as they say...this lot is an insurance agent's dream. A handful of extra parking spaces are on the backside of the building. 3) The spare but cool modern interior design means lots of hard surfaces for sound to bounce off of which means this is loud when the place is full. honest to god just had maybe the worst meal of my entire life here. bread was like play dough, the 'spicy style' suggestion on the menu is apparently just a request to douse the thing in buffalo sauce- which, yeah, definitely goes great on my *chicken pesto* sandwich. there was so little chicken and pesto anyways though- I felt like I was eating a buffalo wild wings flavored bun, and not like the bread was particularly tasty on its own. truly a 0/10 experience that I will never forget. didnt finish the first half and threw away the leftovers. the soup was mediocre but not offensive on the level that the sandwich was; it was tomato basil and it tasted *ok* but was very,, textured. I understand that fresh soup isnt the smoothest thing in the world but this was like eating tomato sauce from the jar more than it was like any soup I have enjoyed. 2/10. The staff were at least nice, though that was sort of a consolation in light of the meal's quality and its cost. I will not return. read more

Quality and care has slipped. Two days ago, my delivery was totally wrong. Got the wrong salad. Today, the salad was correct but the greens were wilted, limp and tasted moldy. Love Croutons!! Always great fresh salads, huge sandwiches and warm cozy soup! The kids meals are perfect with Boar Head Meats and the "real Mac and cheese" as my kids say. Both Bend locations are always clean, light and bright and I always enjoy the ice tea stations with fresh lemons. If it's not right after they have opened, the food sucks and so does the service. I've never waited so long for half a sandwich and a small salad. The girls that took my order made it seem like it was a joke I was waiting for my food for 20 minutes when I was only one of 2 orders at 5:15 pm. I will only go to the Westside's Croutons. Good customer service in front... but terrible chefs/prepare woman in back... I commonly go to this crouton on greenwood ave, & I get messed up orders! I get bad/ not fresh salad sometimes... it even goes to the length of me paying & receiving 1 half of a piece of bacon for extra $. It's not for me. The Caesar dressing did not taste fresh at all and it was just not good. Minestrone was fine but not great, better at Olive Garden if you're going to a chain anyways. The cream of artichoke was very good though! They offer ciabatta and butter for $2 extra which was fine but pretty bland. I would prefer a garlic bread option or even a French bread. Just got through trying to choke down a Napa salad and a bowl of minestrone soup taken home from the East Side Croutons in Bend. The soup was awful, and the salad was old and smelled terrible. I used to really enjoy croutons and hadn't been in quite a while. Well I have now tried to go back a few times the last few weeks and have been consistently disappointed. They are incredibly stingy with their salad ingredients and I don't recall it being this bad before. After a few visits to the Bend and Redmond locations I finally decided to ask about portioning. I was told that I was given the correct portion of olives and that portion is "3 olives cut In half". I won't be returning again. I LOVE CROUTONS!!! I never went because I thought it was just salads but then a friend wanted to go so I tagged along... SO happy I did, it was delicious! You'd think they could afford real silver ware and wash it- there was so much paper and plastic waste in the garbage- I noticed because you bus your own tables... We are in the middle of construction, so we have been to the east side location 3 times in the last couple of weeks and have been pleased each time. The salads are fresh and the soups have been hot and delicious. The service has been quick and friendly. The lack of 5 stars is the flatini is just another sandwich wrapped in a soft "pita". I didn't ask for explanation and assumed it was more like a flatbread. It had great flavor, but a bit messy. It would have been nice to have something different than another sandwich. read more

So i told her again what I wanted and she again asked what. She was just gazing off into space. So I reordered for a third time and she got it right this time but told me a different total than was on the little screen. She never asked if I wanted a drink or chips. My food was good. I've been to a couple of their locations and they are a nice alternative to fast food. They are always clean and pleasant with some healthier options. Stick with the small salads if you're not a power eater and they have some decent soups too. The salads are fairly creative with a combination of fruit and vegetables and they usually have a rotating soup plus the regular options. The hours are fairly limited but if they're open stop in and give it a try. read more

This place was pretty much what I expected. Feels like a chain with food to match. The chicken wild rice soup tasted like cornstarch (so frozen) and the chicken tortilla had almost no flavor (so also frozen). Glad we only got cups. The salads our parents had were enormous but leftovers of salad is kinda gross. The only good thing was the pumpkin soup. That actually was a redeeming factor. Otherwise nothing to write home about. I didn't have much in the way of expectations going into Croutons. It seems to be higher-end fast food with better quality ingredients - very much like Panera, but with the focus on salads instead of on baked goods. Not much in the way of ambiance, but good for a quick lunch. The bloke and I each got a half sandwich/salad combo. The portions were great for $9 - a massive salad and more of a 3/4 sandwich. We both liked the margherita sandwich; the sundried tomatoes and pesto were tasty. The chicken was a little dry and tasteless, but sliced thin enough that it didn't matter much. The salads (pear gorgonzola and granny smith chicken salad) were pretty underwhelming. The dressing tasted like straight vinegar and the salads were primarily lettuce with few fixins (and few croutons, funnily enough). Overall: a good meal for the price and speed, but still essentially fast food. We'll come in now and then for a quick sandwich. I did love that they were serving Townshend's as their iced tea choice. The food as always and at both locations is great, fresh and affordable. However I think there is a lack of hospitality in regards to employees and the customers. When I've called in orders I have found the staff unprepared when I arrive and almost unhelpful. I.e called in a order, was told it would be ready in 20min arrived 25min after and order still took an additional 15min. Tried to pay on two parts (large order I will continue to come because the product is good, but if I can swing by the West side I most likely will. read more
