I have eaten at Cheba Hut in Eugene Oregon and in Glendale Arizona. Now I have made it to Bend Oregon for what seems to be one of the best run franchises for a toasted sub sandwich. I had my usual sub "The White Widow" on their toasted garlic bread. No matter which place I've had this sandwhich it has been great . All of the ingredients tie to together for one of my favorite sandwiches. Every Cheba Hut also has empolyee's who seem to take pride in being polite and helpful. Chiba Hut had every opportunity to fix this yet chose to loose a long standing customer. The parking spot was marked on a sign as 2hr and faded on the ground as 30min. (Not 10 min as stated. ) This was clearly explained to before Chiba staff made a decision not to honor the owners offer to pay. Got my cup and found the very well appointed drink station. Had the best sweet tea I've ever had. Free refills too. I love this place! I was on a trip to Bend and visited for the first time. As a long time stoner, it hit all the feels! Hilarious menu! Great art on the wall. The staff was super friendly. I ordered a blunt of the Midwest Best! So good! I could not finish and gave a quarter of it to a friend. A few friends tried other options and everyone was happy. My sandwich was about $15, but that's about going rate these days for a large sandwich. Hopefully, I will be back to try more. read more

I've been looking forward to this location opening after trying it in San Diego last summer. Tried to visit on opening day, but the line was around the building before 11am on Monday! Today (a Friday), the line had a number of people when we arrived at 11:20, but moved fast! On top of that, the food came out pretty quickly too! The restaurant is pretty spacious. They have gender-less restrooms, which I appreciate (unless you can tell me if I'm a moon or a pot leaf). We ordered 3 sandwiches and kind of shared around the table. The common denominator between all three was the awesome bread! I know CH touts their bread as an integral ingredient, but I don't remember it being so good! The soft crunch on the outside meant the roof of my mouth stayed intact and the soft, chewy interior was just about perfect. The Midwest Best is their take on a club and the kind of take I like. In general, I prefer a "club" on a hoagie as opposed to a traditional stacked club (too much bread imo). Really nice. My buddy ordered the 5-0 and murdered it! I took a couple of bites and found they certainly don't skimp on the meats on that sandwich. I didn't get any Giardiniera on the bites I took, but can only imagine that would only amp up the flavors. The Kali Mist was prob my fav of the three. As their menu describes it, it's a "spicy club". The spice from the fresh jalapenos was perfect (so glad they don't use pickled jalapenos!) and the chipotle mayo gave it a great flavor. This one is definitely in my future queue, but there are so many attractive options, I'll be working through a few other sandos. This is a fun place, a great location, with some pretty tasty and eclectic food options. I recommend grabbing a toasted sub, a cold beer, and planting yourself outside on the large patio! We were eating light on this visit, something of a pregame before heading over to Hayden Homes Amphitheater for a concert, so we split some pretzel bites and a nice sized Greek chicken salad. Both were fresh and tasty, hitting the spot before the evenings festivities. The service was quick, friendly, and extra helpful. The person taking our order too the extra time to give us extra info on the best way to park and access the amphitheater. I absolutely love this place. I started eating Cheba Hut based on a recommendation someone gave at a party that I overheard... I had Cheba a couple of times through DoorDash Delivery and I thought it was absolutely delicious. I order the Kali Mist. I love this sandwich because the fresh jalepenos and spicy mayo give it just the right amount of spice. All of the vegetables on it are fresh and taste great. The sandwich keeps well overnight and you can eat again the next day if you choose to order one of the bigger options they have. It doesn't overload your stomach and make you feel bad either. My girlfriend orders the panama red. She'd eaten it about 4 times now, so I'd say she very well loves it. I had it cold the next day and still found it to be delicious. Just something about this place that makes it superior to your standard subway or other sandwich shops. The atmosphere in store is also amazing. The staff are very friendly (and as per the latest negative review -- they do not seem "high AF" by any means). You can get beers here, chill, and dine here. I think it's an overall underrated great hangout spot for a lunch or even a dinner. I will continue to support this business. read more
