Absolutely outstanding Chinese food! I've always thought central oregon was a wasteland of mediocre Chinese and few choices, BUT after reading positive reviews of Yi's Wok, we thought we'd give it a try. I ordered the sesame chicken and my wife ordered shrimp with vegetables. I knew we were in for a treat when the egg rolls came out. They were clearly freshly made on site rather than the typical frozen crap most places serve. Hot/sour soup same. But, for me, the big treat was the sesame chicken. Perfectly flash fried -- I've searched for years for sesame chicken as good as the old Chen's China Clipper in Beaverton. I have now found it! My wife's shrimp was also delicious. Come here if you're hungry! They load up the plates. Each entree can definetly serve 2. I ordered for pick up and the service was great. As I waited they gave me water and offered me one of their 2 soups. They have a lunch special every day until 3pm and it's at a great price $12-$15 depending what you get. We just came across a decent Chinese restaurant in Central Oregon. We have been in search for almost a year since moving to Oregon. This is hands down the Chinese restaurant to come to. From the service to the cleanliness, to the food. Everything was great! My hope is that the interior gets upgraded and eventually grows. The sesame beef was quite close to the Panda Inn in Pasadena, CA. That's a great compliment. The reason for 4-stars, there is no Mai Tais or liquor drinks. Yi's Wok doesn't stand out as you drive by, but don't let that fool you. Inside lies a cozy atmosphere with unforgettable Chinese food, poignant fortunes and quirky employees that will leave you with the dining experience of a life time. I came here for the first time on Christmas- what a gift. We were so lucky to get the LAST table before they began turning people away. We were warned that it would be a long wait for our food because of how busy they were, but it was worth it and the complementary tea made the wait even more enjoyable. My server went above and beyond to recreate my favorite dish: sesame tofu, which wasn't even on the menu. It was so delicious and the portion was ginormous! Went in for a simple takeout order and was told they were "sold out of food." Mind you this was 730 PM. The guy walking around with a plate of food was the one who said it, and he said it with no emotion, which made it even more confusing. They're supposed to be open until 9 PM, but there was no real explanation for why they wouldn't take my order. Just a quick "sorry" and a "you can come back tomorrow." We have been trying to find Chinese food near the quality found in San Francisco. We were told that Yi's Wok has the best Chinese food in Redmond. The Yelp! reviews looked good. So, we tried Yi's Wok. The parking lot was ok; but, a bit cramped. We were seated immediately. Given menus, water, and very good tea. Throughout the meal, the service was excellent. Like most Chinese restaurants, the menu can be intimidating. Because this was our first visit, we picked two of our favorite dishes, Honey Walnut Shrimp and Sweet and Sour Pork, to get a feeling about the food. Each dish came with a serving of rice and soup. We picked steamed rice and Pork Fried Rice. The Hot and Sour Soup came hot and absolutely delicious; however, as it cooled, the flavor declined to passable. The servings were huge. We had been told that a serving could feed two to two and a half persons. I will say that they would feed two and a half to three persons. Honey Walnut Shrimp arrived at a nice temperature and was delicious. Sweet and Sour Pork was an overflowing pile of hot "deep fried pork balls" without the onions, bell peppers, and pineapple that we expected to be part of the dish. The flavor was ok. Steamed rice was what we expected. Pork Fried Rice was dry and had no discernible flavor. As the meal progressed and the entrees cooled, the taste of the food deteriorated to barely eatable. Nothing passed the Good-When-Cold test and seemed to cool too quickly. My personal opinion is that Yi's Wok is to Chinese food what Bubba Gump's is to seafood. We will continue our search for the best Chinese food in Redmond OR; but, so far, the best Chinese food, when it come to authenticity and quality, in Central Oregon is Panda Express. read more

Best Chinese food we've found in the Bend-Redmond area. Fresh, clean, tasty. We had Veg Eggrolls, pot stickers, hot&sour soup (could use a whisper mord vinegar), egg flower soup, beef with black pepper sauce, and authentic Szechuan diced chicken with chilis. The menu is also gigantic, even if it is all very standard Chinese restaurant fare. We sat down had drinks ordered and were enjoying the egg drop soup in under 10 minutes with the food coming in under 15 minutes from being seated. i waited a bit to post this of an incident that happened 6 months ago,..you loose regular customer and business, when a punk employee comes running out into parking lot accusing you for not leaving a tip!. 1st, this punk was not our server, 2nd cash was left on table for girl who was our server, whcih is what we always do. in addition to that incident, the food and quality has noticably gone down hill the last 3 times. if there is a problem with the food served and its addressed and nothing is offered to make it better,.. you loose customers and business. read more
