Staff weren't that happy to be there , they dotn smile. Music? Bare minimum..you can barely hear it maybe. The place? Feels like an abandoned taco shop. No decoration, their deli is empty..their pastry looks old . Ok time to order some coffee. I only see one menu on the wall. Super minimalist. So ordered, then I looked down at the counter..there is another menu for specialty..so I gave it a tried. The menu sounded very cocktail type of descriptions...well give it a try! Received my tiny hot little coffee for over $7 drink. My hand is actually bigger than the cup. Ok I took a first sip.. not good. No bueno. It has an after taste of bitterness and is not blending well with the cherry flavor. The golden hour ice drink was so bad, my friend ended up throwing it. I would definitely not recommend anyone to come here if you are a truly coffee drinker.

While they do have a lot of fun flavors, this is not the kind of place that drowns the palate with sweetness. They expertly balance the ratio of syrup, milk, and espresso to provide the best outcome. The nuttiness of their roast really shines, and they're always happy to adjust the sweetness if you need them to. Personally, I love the lower sweetness level being the default. These guys know what they're doing! We've been visiting for the past week and have stopped through Dreamwave four times this week. While I'm always in the need of a coffee fix, we've gone out of our way to visit multiple times because the people have been so beyond kind. We've sampled most of the house flavors and I can confidently say they have all been delicious. This would definitely be my go-to shop if I lived nearby.

This would have been an average San Diego coffee shop experience for me, except for the fact that I absolutely LOVED the cherry bomb! It's a cherry mocha and essentially a perfect drink for me. Back in 2019, Starbucks had a seasonal cherry mocha for Valentine's Day that I was obsessed with. Apparently I was the only one, because they haven't brought it back since. Cherry mochas are hard to come by, and I haven't really encountered another one. This one was delicious! The espresso was bold, the milk perfectly creamy, and the overall taste not too sweet (unlike Starbucks'). Wow!! I can already tell this will be a drink I daydream about. Unfortunately it was $7.50, which will prevent me from indulging very regularly. The rest of the menu is pricey too, with avocado toasts nearly reaching $20. (I may be a millennial, but I can certainly understand the negative stereotype when I see coffee shop prices like these.) Besides pricing, the other downside of this place is the limited seating. There were only 4 small outdoor tables, so unless you're with just one other person and you arrive before 10am, I'd suggest grabbing your coffee to go and taking a walk. My friend and I sat down, since there were open tables when we arrived. She enjoyed her iced honey cinnamon latte. If you love a cherry mocha or are looking for coffee in the design district, definitely come through!

What I wanted to shoutout in particular was the stellar customer service we received. We visited today, on 8/22, around 11am. I wish we would have gotten the barista's name who rang us up- but he was just spectacular. My mom has an autoimmune disease and some days are just harder than others in terms of us getting out of the house and enjoying some mother-daughter time. He really seemed genuine in his interaction, particularly with my mom, and it made her morning. Thank you kind sir for your heart and kindness- I want you to know that you made an impact!
