I would have giving one more star but the extra fees made me take the 5th star way. They keep giving me the run around and as of today they still can't tell me when I'll get paid. After purchasing a like new condition Ulysse Nardin watch, wearing it sparingly and keeping it in excellent condition, and keeping it in a watch winder on recommended settings, the watch stopped working all together. When I purchased the watch, outside the extended warranty, Crown and Caliber offered a $249 (plus additional parts) standard watch service for customers. This fact was the sole reason I purchased the watch from Crown and Caliber, as U.N. offers a superior 5 year warranty. Without warning they removed this service, and referred me to a watch repair shop that wanted $1600 for a basic repair. I once recommended Crown and Caliber, but I'm spending the morning making calls to everyone I recommended them to telling folks that in this case they did not stand behind their product, and I no longer have any faith in them as a company. Needless to say I'll never buy from them again, but they have my highest recommendation against Purchasing any watch from them, as customer service outside the buying process, in my case, was abysmal. read more

"We would never sell a watch with aftermarket parts without first discussing it with our customers." Is that the gist of it? Why would your rep insist on an after market crystal? "Watch is in very good condition with only a few faint scuffs on the case and bracelet. Diamond/emerald dial and diamond/ emerald bezel are both custom aftermarket additions. Watch is no longer water-resistant due to aftermarket parts." I've noticed this notation on a number of your watches. If a person purchases a watch that has been modified, aren't they pretty much ratifying aftermarket parts? If they find out later that the rebuild was much more extensive than this, they've abrogated their rights to a refund. It might only be 25% original. $5,000 seems a little pricey for 25% of a Rolex. It's not even a Rolex anymore. It's a mutt. It has no pedigree. No box, no papers & it's been rebuilt with aftermarket parts. As for the chipped crystal, the ONLY thing that makes sense is the original Rolex crystal wouldn't fit. Otherwise, your customer's offer sounded very fair. read more

Bought a Pam 392 which is a 42mm watch but they sent me a 312 (44mm). I don't know how any reputable dealer could make that mistake. Making matters worse, all they could do for me was a refund and 200 dollars off another watch (which, btw is currently a sitewide deal). So pretty much they screwed up on the watch I have been waiting for and did absolutely nothing to make it right. Don't shop here unless you want people who can't tell the difference between two reference numbers selling your next 5k time piece. read more

Used their on line service to attempt to sell a TAG Heuer Carrera CV2A1U that I very seldom wear, is less than 2 years old, and I have the box and all paperwork for. They have the exact same watch listed for $3000, but there offer to me was $1800 (retail is $4650) which seemed low to me. I understand that they have overhead and they make it easy and safe to sell a watch, but it seams like they are taking advantage of people. Looks like keeping it is my best option. read more

No stars should be an option. I purchased 4 watches from these clowns, a Rolex Date, Omega Seamaster, Mont Blanc 7018 and a Breitling Shadow Flyback. OMEGA: Had to have complete movement replaced due to mechanical failure, this too 1 month to fix and send back MONT BLANC: Movement stopped working, i had to send it back and they said the movement got stuck, watch master agreed this was not my fault. ROLEX: This was ok pin came loose but was easy fix for myself no problems after this BREITLING: This was a joke, it arrived and the winder came out, i sent it back and they said they admitted that the watch master didn't fit the movement correctly and it meant the pin didnt reach. I then got it back and then realized 4 days later that 2 of the markers on the Bezel were missing i called them and arranged a replacement meaning I paid $1600 to upgrade to an IWC. I then get a call today to explain that they don't want to do business with me any more as its 'SUSPICIOUS' the problems i had despite my patience with them as a company and the fact the watch master (clearly not a master) agreed it was their fault. Dealing with the company has been stressful and shady, after my patience and continual business they have decided to cut ties with me as they are losing money on the watches because they have a 1 year warranty and they dont want to sell me any more. Bad experience with this company! First, bought a Rolex SS Daytona, described in excellent condition with box and papers. They said it included the green and red tags, but it did not include the green tag when received, FAIL!! They said that they have experienced watch makers in house. They supposedly do a quality control check before sending out the watch. The watch was double boxed with a lot of padding and bubble wrapped, nice right? Well, I then opened the box, no signs of the box getting beat, no dents etc..was excited to see and try the watch on. First impression, watch looks good, repolished, clean...i then tried out the chronograph, well, the "seconds hand" stops at 58sec, FAIL!!! So I did a reset and tried again, same thing happened. I called customer service right away and they said, send it back so they can check to see whats wrong with it.. I told them I'll just send it back for a refund because God knows what else is wrong with that watch. I mean, come on, I just bought a high dollar watch and you're telling me its broken? So I sent it back the next day, and then got my money credited back to my account close to about 2 weeks after it was sent out. So I thought I shouldn't judge them, maybe it was just one of those "Friday" watches that was overlooked by their watchmakers. So a few weeks passed, I browsed their site and saw another Rolex, priced right, but no box and papers. Described as "very good" condition. Decided to give them another chance, since this watch is not a chrono, It should have no problems with the movement. Bought it again online, and called customer service the next day to confirm my order, and to ask to make sure the watch is indeed in "very good" condition, they said, yes it is. It was really difficult to see the details on the pictures provided in the website, so the reason for my call. Received the watch 2 business days later. Well, I opened the box, watch looks clean, except it had a chip on the crystal that was noticeable even without a magnifying glass. That flaw should have been disclosed on the ad so the buyer knows what he/she is getting. I doubt that their watchmaker missed that. So I emailed customer service, same sales person I dealt with the first time. He apologized that I'm having a bad experience with the company. I told him, lets work it out. They said they were willing to replace the crystal with an aftermarket one, and I told them I want the original crystal, they said no. Ok, I made a compromise, how about they pay/credit me half of the bill for me to have the crystal replaced at a local Rolex Service Center, but they said no, they insist on replacing it with an after market part. Very Disappointed!! Now, I question the watches they service, do they install aftermarket parts inside the watch without disclosing it to buyers? They are an online seller of high end "pre-owned" watches, the least they could do is disclose the flaws that are obvious. I guess they are hoping that your 7-day inspection window runs out before you notice it, so you can't return it. Btw, the 7-day window includes the 2days that it takes for them to ship you the watch, so basically you have 5-days, lol!! What a joke!! Anyhow, I'm just sharing my experience with them. For a small amount of money, they would rather lose a customer and future customers(word of mouth), than just fix their mistake properly. The experience with the staff was excellent. The Crown & Caliber team is professional and courteous, and the process is fairly transparent. Processing time from shipping my watch to C&C to getting it listed was a bit on the slow side, but nothing particularly frustrating. The only reason this business does not get more stars is that, in my opinion, they should be able to list at an asking price reasonably close to what I could manage as a private seller, and that was not the case. My watch model has sold between private parties for a bit more than C&C listed at, and after their prep fee and 20% cut, I'm left a bit lighter than I would like. However, the benefit is that the sale is fire-and-forget, and I was more interested in getting the watch off my hands than in continuing to try to sell it myself. Be careful here! Sold a 5 figure watch to them; they admittedly low balled me but a skosh better than the competition and safer than eBay so I went with it. Imagine my surprise when their check sent to me was MUCH (5k) more than the agreed deal! Then the hijinks began. I spent a couple of hours on the phone trying to point out THEIR mistake/ find someone who knew anything / doing the right thing! No one knows anything of course... Fast forward 24hrs (a Friday) and we're at Defcon1 - I'm stealing their cash committing fraud and a crook per their messages to me. Once again try to call them back - can't reach any of the players. Ultimately resolved, but am eternally convinced if I had pocketed the cash unscrupulously no one there would have noticed or cared. YMMV obviously, but they lost my business for sure. read more

I recently sold a high-end watch to C&C and it was a great experience! I found them online and submitted pictures, make and model for a bid. They sent an email with an offer within 1-2 days. I was a bit uneasy shipping such a pricey item to an unknown address across the country but they assured me it was insured if something were to happen to it and were super communicative once the item arrived in their hands. Emailed me with updates on the process through out. Once I accepted the final offer, I chose the 2 business day check option which was $25 but definitely worth it. Once the check was processed and sent out, they emailed me a tracking # for my records. I would do definitely use this company again for selling/buying watches. read more

Directly from their website : "We have invested in an in-house, full-time team of Swiss-certified watchmakers, and experienced technicians and refinishers. Every watch that comes through our shop is verified for authenticity and performance-tested. It then receives any necessary service or refinishing." If that is true, they either don't bother checking *every* watch or they don't know what they're doing. My automatic (self-winding) watch arrived in such disrepair that it didn't. That's a pretty basic thing to test. I'm not going to get into all the other things that were wrong with it, suffice it to say that their Swiss-certified watchmakers, and experienced technicians couldn't repair it in house and the watch had to be sent back to the manufacturer. I didn't see my "brand new" watch again for over three months. During that time, I purchased 3 other watches from other vendors with no problems at all. To their credit, they did take responsibility for managing the repairs. My gripe is that the watch really wasn't checked as they claim and I paid for a watch that I had to wait almost four months to enjoy while they enjoyed the $$$ thousands I spent. No plan to purchase anything from them again. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE! Spoke with Helen, a representative, who lied about available offerings. I had called the Crown and Caliber office to purchase an Omega Seamaster and asked about applicable discounts and offerings. She stated the max available in the system was a $200 discount offer. I decided to go ahead with the purchase in good faith. Helen proceeded to charge my credit card a flat $1,700 for the timepiece. Moments after, I was reviewing the Crown and Caliber website, truly excited to review the photos of my new purchase. To my dismay, there was a widely advertised $400 discount applicable to my purchase. I was livid and felt lied to but nonetheless was willing to proceed with my purchase given the team would honor the correct $400 discount. Given the order charged to my credit card was $1,700 the expectation was the new order would be $1,500. With the knowledge of the greater discount, I called Helen to sort this all out. She agreed to honor the discount but suddenly there were additional, hidden taxes and fees that brought the purchase $1,642.50. In all honesty, not a bad price for the watch. However, at this point, I was so angry for being lied to about the available discount and then new additional fees being added after the fact, I did not want to do business with Crown and Caliber. Before escalating to writing a Yelp review, I have been trying to get a hold of management for over a week. With dishonesty like this there is no way to know their watches have actually been vetted AND I now seem to read some of the horror stories below. read more

The process start to finish was EXCELLENT including the shipment of a box and packaging materials right through direct deposit to my account. I got exactly what they estimated. I completely disagree by the way with the comment that all they do is sell the watch on ebay and take 20%. Watches exactly like mine are sitting on ebay right now and have been for months. The difference is that C&C has the reputation, mailing list, and connections to push the watch to collectors in a way that ebay doesn't. This company is a shining example of how experience, expertise, honesty, professionalism and good-old-fashioned courtesy can make the watch-selling experience a pleasure, even on the anonymous Web. I recently sold my Rolex Oyster Datejust to C&C, and the experience couldn't have been easier or more pleasant. I received an honest quote from them that was considerably more than I received from another Web company that promised top dollar (no names here, but a clue: the first word is Bob's and the last word is Watches). I accepted the quote and C&C sent a very professional packing kit to me overnight. Packed up the watch as per directions, sent the pre-paid package back, and received a confirmed quote within two days. (No bait-and-switch tactics here, either: received the same confirmed quote as the preliminary one.) Accepted the quote, and the money was transferred directly into my checking account (I could have received a check if I wanted one) within days. Doesn't get simpler than that!
