I got my diabetic shoes at Crown City Orthopedic this year even though my doctor suggested another place in Pasadena. This time I was happy they have a staffer that knows a lot about the diabetic shoes. I felt comfortable chatting about my foot issues with him. He ordered the wide size for me to help reduce rubbing. When I picked the shoes up I was delighted by the handsome look of the Anodyne dress shoes and the ease with which to put on as each shoe has an enforced heel so there is no need to use a shoe horn even though Anodyne provides one. My only lament is the shoes are not that thick at the bottom unlike Aetrex so I feel the floor somewhat . The rep ordered two sets of shoes of different sizes just in case. I am happy they made the effort to make sure I get the right shoes with the minimum number of trips. Also communication with the office has improved after they got the correct number to reach me. read more

They charged over $180 for the exact same brace on Amazon for 14.99. Why? This is exactly what is wrong with the healthcare system. My medical group, Optum uses vendors like Crown City who overcharge patients because we are in a vulnerable state. Thinking last year's unpleasant experience was a fluke, I decided to go back to CROWN CITY ORTHOPEDIC again this year as a reprieve or something for my orthopedic shoes. It all starts with the two parrots at the reception. The arrogance, and lack of common sense runs rampant here. Took over two months to get the insurance paperwork done before they would even make an appointment. And another two months to receive the orthopedic shoes that they just buy from a local supplier 3 miles away. Even after receiving my prescription via fax from one of their referring orthopedic surgeons (via my primary care giver) and subsequent scan of the same, the ignorant parrots questioned validity of Dr's signature even on the original prescription, and supporting documents from my primary care giver. (Which I had to take to their office in person after 4 trips to my doctors) Now the fact that the shoes do not fit comfortably, or are of a very low quality is another story for another night. Just waiting to see how much they overcharge my insurance company for this junky pair. Total lack of professionalism, with arrogance, providing a sub-par service/shoes. read more

Ryan is awesome. Although I am bummed the Pasadena office is closed, you still get the same service and attention from from the staff. I love that when you walk in you see this beautiful fish tank! Anyways, I come here to have custom orthotics made and I can't tell you how happy I am to know that I can have my old refurbished for $60!!! YAAASSSS! If your feet haven't changed much between pairs, you can easily get the new ones refurbished without having to put up with ratty orthotics. Ryan, the owner of crown city orthotics and prosthetics has been so very helpful over the past several years for my physical therapy patients. They always say he gives great service. I was so impressed by the entire office and staff. First, the office is beautiful. I loved seeing the area where they make the prosthetics, it is an art! And then of course there is Ryan Molina. I came there with long time nerve pain in my left foot. Ryan is so knowledgeable and spent over an hour with me. He put a brace on my foot and when I stood up I was almost in tears because the pain that I have felt for years was gone! And then he stretched my shoes which helped tremendously-- he offered to have me bring more (could I even wear high heels again?!). I tore my ACL playing water sports during the summer and was told by my doctor that I would need surgery. There were so many things to consider in regard to my health and recovery that it was difficult to stay positive. However, scheduling an appointment with Ryan to go over my recovery was refreshingly positive. He was very understanding about my concerns and did his best to answer my questions and reassure me that my recovery would be smooth - he even gave me some advice based on his experience with this injury. After my first appointment, I was fitted for a post op knee brace, which arrived quickly and fit perfectly. It's been six weeks since my surgery and I have had zero problems with my brace, nor have I had any problems contacting Ryan with questions. Hopefully I never have to endure and experience like this again, but I know that if I do, Ryan will be the person I turn to. read more

The Orthotist, Ryan, told me that I might receive intentionally ill-fitted orthotics, questioned why I was bothered by it, and then laughed.

This is the first negative review I have ever written on Yelp, and trust me, it took some pretty horrendous service to compel me to write one.  I was referred here by my 18 month-old daughter's pediatrician because my daughter needs special shoes to address the severe inward turn of her feet. When we arrived, we waited a long time for the doctor, who was very nice, to spend a few minutes measuring my daughter's feet and then telling us he would place the order for her shoes and a bar she will wear between her legs at night. He said they would be ready in a week or two and he would explain everything at the next appointment. As we were leaving, I asked the receptionist if we needed to make an appointment and she assured me that I didn't, they would call me when the items were ready. After a month passed, I called to see what the status was. I was beginning to worry as my daughter is continuing to grow and her problem is continuing to worsen. It was a Monday, and the receptionist (didn't get her name) told me that the request for the items had been sent to the insurance, however they had not yet received the approval. I asked if I could help by calling the insurance and she explained that the doctor put in the request and she couldn't see if he had sent it to my medical group, Healthcare Partners, or directly to the insurance itself. I asked her when the request was submitted and she said she didn't have that information, but recommended I call back on a different day and the doctor would be there/have the information. I called back three days later on a Thursday (today) and told the receptionist (Ray) I was following up regarding my daughter's insurance authorization. She was extremely rude and obviously wanted me to get the hell off the phone as evidenced by her irritated tone, repetition of words (as if I were stupid or not listening), and the way she abruptly hung up the phone without saying goodbye or thank you. I asked her if I should call the insurance company or my healthcare group and she just kept repeating "there's no way to expedite this" and "you're at their mercy". When I asked her how long it normally took, she just kept repeating "you're at their mercy" (the insurance company). I asked her if my daughter's foot would need to be re-measured as it had now been over a month since her foot was measured and I was concerned about the items fitting correctly (assuming we ever receive them) and she irately  answered that they "don't usually remake molds." During this entire process, my daughter's physical problem is not being treated and may be worsening, which is infuriating and deeply upsetting as a mother.  These people don't care and aren't competent at their jobs. They are so bad in fact, they've driven me to write my first negative yelp review in order to warn loving parents who care about their children to seek professional and  considerate care elsewhere. read more

Called the office three time during business hour and left message, never got a call back. Had to go into office to find the pad was ready and no one follow through. No longer in pasadena and not near the Huntington Hospital at all! Also they keep a credit card on file so they can charge your credit card for what ever the insurance company may not pay. But as a client how do we know what's going to be charged! Huntington Doctors need to have other options close to the hospital also a company that has a better relationship with insurance companies. It's just not fair to the patients that have limited funds and are senior citizens. NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER and need more choices! read more

DEMANDS RX, Diabetic evaluation by podiarist, etc, before they make appointment! 3 years back they made me orthodics/ and supplied shoes, all Medicare Approved! I do not have any bad insurance as a HMO! In so demanding this, without a signed HIPPA release, is in violation of Federal LAW, and a violation of my rights! I did not go back as this receptionist is so in your face, and wants to violated FED Hippa law, and she looked up and saw they make me the SAME before! AND refused an appointment unless she had RX, and evaluations! So I told here, I have had same DPM since 2008! I have had Diabetic SHoes every year for 8 years r more! AS before my Internist a MD, reviews the DPM report and signs also writing a RX besides! RYAN was a good guy! THE front desk ruins this place with her deliberate attemo to circumvent HIPPA rights and LAW! I have no current HIPPA relationship with Crown CITY, and me thinks never if they the last place supplying orthodics! Many supplier of Durable Medicare approved Medical Goods will supply Diabetic Shoes! FEW place are capable of making simple orthdics, and streatchin shoes! Stretching shoes is part of the deal, and usually 2 trips and $20 bucks to some shoe shop to get done! $20 ok, it is the trips! read more

I was referred to this place by my neurosurgeon. Ryan was the one who helped me. He wanted me to try different drop foot braces that I was Accostumed to wearing. He said if they didn't work he would exchange them for the others. They did not work at all and I spoke with the man at the front desk by phone and he said he would tell Ryan and I could return them. The following week my daughter was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and I wars the only one to care for her. I called and explained to the front desk that I could not come to the office for the exchange as it was a four hour drive and I was unable to leave my daughter. I finally had a friend take them back for me and he got a pick up slip. I called a few days later to see if they were going to reimburse Medicare or order the correct ones. The lady that answered said they had a new staff and she would get back to me. 4 calls leather a girl answered and said they would not order new ones or reimburse Medicare. They were paid and now they had my braces and I had none! I called Medicare and they filed a fraud claim on this company! my doctor was shocked and will never refer to them again! I tod Ryan Molina that I was using his company because the service at Coachella orthopedics was disappointing! He didn't mention that he was related to them! These alarm braces are very expensive but necessary if you want to walk! Medicare only replaces every 5 years! I believe Ryan pushed braces that he had and charged Medicare 1890.00 for them. His receptionist stated I could leave a message for Ryan Molina, but he would not call back and would not do anything about this. She was extremely rude and hung up. I filed a fraud report with Medicare and because I have time now I will take them to court. My daughter passed away two days ago! I told the receptionist who refused to give her name this but she was so rude it didn't matter! Beware of this establishment I wish we could leave no stars! read more

I was referred to this place by my hand specialist for a brace. I read the very good reviews here and was looking forward to my appointment. When I arrived the man at the front counter gave me forms to fill out. One of them was a credit card authorization form which wanted all of my credit card information for them to put on file and be able to charge any amount they want. I have very good insurance and had an approval for the brace. I felt uncomfortable filling out the form and giving someone carte blanche privileges for it. I also didn't feel confident that they were able to properly secure such personal information. The man at the counter refused to let me see the dr. or even the office manager without the form. He insisted the form was needed in case my insurance didn't cover all of the cost of the brace. I asked him to call my insurance company to discuss the matter and that I would cover any portion they potentially wouldn't but he wouldn't budge. I left very unhappy as I had taken time off from work and driven about 15 miles for the appointment. I notified my doctor and my bank both of whom said I did the right thing and guess what? My doctor is no longer referring patients there and sent me somewhere else where that form is not required. I can understand they need to protect themselves of losses but there are better ways to do this without compromising clients private information. read more

I don't know what happened to this business but it has gone down hill since Josh left and the rest of the office staff turned over. I stuck with this company because of what an extraordinary job they USED to do. I even went against my doctor's suggestion insisting on this service. Oh what a mistake I made! I will never make it again!!!! First of all, they lost my original prescription and I had to see a podiatrist to get another one setting back my shoe schedule months. Then when I got another prescription and was finally able to get a fitting, they told me I would have to pay about $60 in additional fees that I never had to pay for my shoes before. 4 months later and here I am not having received my shoes yet. I told them I was going to lose my insurance and if the transaction took any longer I would not be able to get my shoes. The receptionist lady said she left messages when she didn't. Every time I called she was incredibly snide and unfriendly. What kind of office treats their patients like that? I am so mad at myself for not going with the company my doctor recommend. Oh what a mistake I made. Now I am probably not even going to get the shoes I need for my problems and I am out the extra money they made me pay above insurance. Go with a more professional company.
