I don't know if this woman is ornery with everyone, but she does not seem to like me. Anyway, the important thing was the work she does as a seamstress. She satisfactorily adjusted my waist and length of some dress pants - but can't most 8th grade home economic girls do likewise? Regarding another adjustment she made on my suit coat sleeve, it was pathetic. She shortened the sleeve, but did not line up the buttons with the remaining button holes. So one sleeve had 4 buttons and two button holes but none aligned. The other also had the 4 original buttons and 3 button holes, also not aligned. Plus, the 4th button was absolutely flush with the bottom of my sleeve. I cut off that button so that I could wear the suit that weekend, still I felt uncomfortable that someone might notice botched up sleeves. Was this total incompetence or was she screwing me over? Buyer be warned. I will never go back here for any service. read more

I can't say enough positive things about Crown Cleaners & Alterations. When I have dry cleaning done, the price is lower than most places, and my clothes always look nice when I pick them up. There's also never that chemical smell that you get from some dry cleaners. We recently had an emergency that we needed my daughter's dress hemmed for my son's wedding. Even though Susan was extremely busy, and it was a difficult job because of the material and the way that the dress was cut, Susan saved the day by getting it done in record time. It was an expensive dress, and when we picked it up, you couldn't even tell it had been hemmed. Susan is an excellent seamstress. They are always kind, friendly and professional. Recently purchased a dress for my daughter's wedding ($289). Took my dress to get hemmed, her husband marked how I wanted it. It was to touch the floor. I paid $140 to have two dresses altered. Took my dresses home and tried the wedding dress on, the whole look was changed and it was 3 inches to short in the front. I had to purchase another dress. Took the dress back to her and she became defensive immediately, stated I told her husband that is what I requested. She continued to tell me it was my fault and then asked me where the rest of material was, she stated she gave it to me. I requested her pay for the 2nd dress because the first one was ruined. The 2nd dress, I got on sale for $144. Owners continued to say it was my fault, gave me a $100 back and kept my dress! On my way out she said, take the money and "I hope you break your leg". My husband and I have been coming to Crown for years to dry clean our comforter and blankets for $22. Usually, my husband will drop off/pick up and for the past few months I have been picking up & paying. Today, I was dressed casually running errands and looked very different and I dropped off the comforters for a change. The owner did not recognize me at all and she asked me for my phone and assumed it was a (702) area code, but i corrected her by giving my Los Angeles (213) mobile number. She then decided to charge me the price of $25. I noticed the price difference and commented "Oh, its not $22 any more." She said the $22 is for laundry and $25 is for dry cleaning. So, basically, we've been having our blankets in the laundry this entire time. I could've put it in my laundry at home and done it myself. Then, she said her price for dry cleaning increased to $25 since the beginning of the year. I told her that my husband dropped off blankets at the end of Feb and i picked up and paid $22 for it (photo attached). When confronting her with this, she said I was being too pushy and to take my blankets to be cleaned elsewhere. I was completely shocked because she was sweet to me in the past. It's obvious she doesn't remember me and reacted badly when I caught her trying to overcharge. After reading the other negative reviews, I found out that the owner tends to change pricing as she pleases. My advice to her is to have a set menu pricing to avoid discrimination against customers. They have senior and military discount on window. When you call for a price, the price they charge is the same price, no discount. They tell you their prices are the lowest and I found another place near that had lower prices and much faster service. Nice people but I won't go back. Do Not Go for alterations!! My daughter had a bad experience at the same location, but I thought I would give them another try. I brought 4 items in for alterations. I picked them up 2 weeks later, paid cash and only two had been completed. When I went the next day the owner (women) immediately got defensive when I complained. She altered a dress where one side was on the ground from the other side. She said I work hard and the problem is the dress. She never touched the other item because she forgot what was needed. I told her she could have called. Refused to give me any money back and told me not to return. PLEASE this is a REAL review and I never review! Don't go! I took a flower girl & three different style of silk charmeuse bridesmaid dresses in for hemming and alteration. Super rush - needed in three days. I didn't know the exact length for the hemming on any of the dresses, their shoes hadn't been bought yet and all I had were pictures of the dresses on in bare feet. I guessed a 3" heel for all bridesmaids. All needed to have sash loops added and a sash sewn onto the flower girl dress, one needed the dress slit closed (had to be careful not too much or else too tight), one dress needed material reduced for lower contour. The dresses were going to be worn on the wedding day. LOL, what a mess ... and I was not my normal self! She kept on assuring me that they would be wonderful (very nice to keep me level). And they came out on time and perfect! She did a fantastic job on hemming and just from looking at pictures! I recently moved and found the closest cleaning/alterations business near where I live that also had good reviews. I was excited to support a family owned business, however, I had a bad experience. I brought in a comforter that needed two small sewing repairs and needed to be cleaned. It cost me $10 for the repair and $40 for the cleaning. When I got home, I spread open the comforter to inspect it and saw the old stains all over the comforter. The repairs looked good, but I called them to let them know about the stains. The gentleman I dealt who works the front counter told me to bring it in again and they would rewash it without charge. Upon bringing it in, I spread open the comforter to show him the stains. He began to accuse me that this was not the same comforter I had brought in because he could not see the repairs. Initially, it felt off putting that he was accusing me of bringing in a different comforter, so I had to find the patchwork to prove it was the same comforter. I then requested that the be spot treated with a special enzyme cleaner of some sort. He rudely responded by saying that he's done this a long time and knows what he's doing and if they can't get out the stains then there's nothing they can do. I kindly let him know that I understand that he knows what he's doing, but I still wanted to know if they would spot-treat the stains. Again he responded with an attitude to me and said they will wash it one more time and after that I'm out of luck. I'm hoping they will get out the stains like my last cleaners (Mint Locker) had no problem doing. But I will not be using them again in the future because of the negative interaction I had with this gentleman. Lastly, their wait time for retrieving clothing is about 5 to 6 days which I think is a little long compared to Mint Locker. I think I'll start making the drive to Mint Locker for better service. read more

The lady was so rude. I called before hand on Monday to see if I could have a dress hemmed by Friday. She said she could do it. When I went in, she was going to charge me $70 to get 3 inches hemmed and a little tear sown up ($65 for the "rush" hem and $5 for the tear). I declined the service and went to Al Phillips Cleaners and Alterations. They charged me $35 for everything had it done in a day. read more

I actually haven't even picked up my dry cleaning yet but I brought in 3 suits for cleaning with 2 minor alterations and the bill was $47.85, highly overpriced in my opinion. The woman at the front desk was very friendly just a lil expensive for me. Also, turn around time for 3 cleaned suits and 2 minor alterations will take a week. Also a bit long in my opinion.
