Crown Pizza is a welcomed addition to Trumbull! Since moving here about 8 months ago, my husband and I have been on the hunt for go-to, good pizza! I think we have found it! They have only been open about 3 weeks, and we have been there twice in the past 3 days... First visit we stopped in quick for a slice after a long drive home to an empty fridge. We were happy to see an abundance of outdoor seating under a covered patio. Inside, it is smaller, but plenty of tables to enjoy your food. (We were there for a late lunch and there were 4-5 tables seated and 5-6 guests getting slices and to-go food) The options for slices was more then the ordinary cheese and pep. There was white pizza, margarita, buffalo chicken, BBQ quicken, mushroom, veggie and the list goes on. I opted for the traditional margarita and the hubs went with the BBQ chicken. The slices are HUGE, thin crust with tons of flavor - really good! Our second visit (in 3 days) consisted of a quick lunch of wraps. I got the chicken, bacon, ranch and husband went with buffalo chicken. His quote exactly "this is the best buffalo wrap I have ever had!" Tons of chicken, plenty of sauce and it wasn't just spice, there was actually flavor in the buffalo sauce. As for my chicken, bacon, ranch; lots of fresh, warm grilled chicken, real crispy bacon, fresh sliced tomato and crunchy bright green lettuce - none of that white-ish/green filler "lettuce" many restaurants use. Crown Pizza has very quick service, we have only gotten take out and stopped in, but both visits were fast. They deliver as well, which I am sure we will test out in the near future. On both visits the gentlemen behind the counter were friendly. welcoming and attentive! So far, Crown has everything we look for I a go-to neighborhood eatery. Their menu is pretty big, and has a lot of wraps, sandwiches, pizzas and salads that I cant wait to try! This tastes like frozen pizza that was reheated several times. If pizza is your business, you'd think Crown Pizza would perfect it. Sauce was bland, needs to be cooked more, and WAY too thick. read more

I am a New Yorker who now lives in CT. I could never find decent pizza here in CT until Crown. Giove's pizza is their competitor and probably has more customers but their pizza is mediocre in comparison. Most pizza in CT have soggy crust and oily cheese and crappy pizza sauce... I've been ordering from Crown for years and noticed a huge change in the quality and freshness of the food over the past few years. Our last few orders were not good at all...dry, microwaved, rubbery, soggy, old tasting, cold...etc. The last time I ordered a meatball parmigiana sub, thinking they can't possibly get such a simple meal wrong or have it come out bad. The meatballs were rubbery, barely any sauce (so they were dry) and the "mozzarella " cheese that they melted on top was clearly microwaved (it flattened over the top in a square position, so it clearly was microwaved as well) and tasted like American cheese/not mozzarella. My son ordered a wrap and said it was awful and the fries were cold and soggy. I JUST had back surgery on Tuesday and my neighbor got me a gift card to Crown Pizza...there's absolutely NOTHING on the menu I'm willing to try again since the simplest of orders came to my home practically inedible (if I didn't add things to mine and my sons sandwich, we would have had to throw it all out). I feel terrible that my neighbor wasted her $ and am trying to figure out what is edible to eat from there so her generosity isn't being thrown in the trash... if I could trust getting a fresh pizza (not one that's been pre-made and sitting under a heat lamp for hours and then thrown into a box, so that by the time it gets here, it's not only cold, but hard as a rock on top of everything else, than MAYBE I can order something...but otherwise if anyone is a fan of Crown, then I'd be willing to sell you the gift card so I can order from someplace else. Stopped in to talk to someone at Crown yesterday. I had been there the day before and ordered a soup, a pizza roll and a pc of Sicilian pizza. I specifically asked that everything be "piping" hot. I got a soda, sat down and waited. I saw my soup come out and then saw server take my other items, already bagged up, from top of the oven. I paid, left and was at my kitchen table in less than two minutes. Soup was absolutely boiling. Pizza roll and slice were barely warm. He apologized for that. I went on to mention that this is kind of a recurring issue when I get take out here.The food is ok, the soups are great.....but there's always something that is not hot. He responded that it's hard to get it all to be ready at same time (I had suggested that that was the issue). He explained that one food item ticket may go to one cook and another to a different cook. I told him that that was just a communications issue. If they communicated, things would be ready very close to each other. He said, "that's not the way we do it". I thanked him for being honest and telling me that he can't comply with a simple customer request. Having spent time in restaurants, as a customer and a worker, I know that his response was not what it should have been. Sure, every once in a while at a dine in restaurant you may have to wait a minute or two for someones entree to arrive. Not often though. Take out is no different. It's the same thing as table service. It's really a shame because food is certainly ok enough to frequent the place, but I CAN"T deal with cold food. read more

Ordered food to be delivered at 8:00. Food came at 9:40 ice cold. After heating it, it was after 10:00 before we ate. The calzone hardly had any ricotta cheese, all bread. Garlic knots very greasy. Ordered 3 pies for pick up, when I got home with the 3 pizzas 2 were what we ordered, the one we ordered with 5 meats only had cheese, no toppings at all. How hard is it to get a pizza order correct? Pizza crust was undercooked, cheese stopped 2" in from the edge of the pie, do yourself a favor and skip this pizza place. Would not recommend on on any level. read more

Although the pizza is pretty good, I'm giving this place only one star because of ethics and not doing the right thing. I called and placed an order for two large pizzas with one topping. The price came out to ~$32. I've only noticed after receiving the pizza, that they have a constant coupon that states two for $19 (toppings additional). When I called and ask why I was not given that price the person told me that I have to indicate that I have this coupon and hung up the phone on me. A place that values their customers, especially a new place, should do the right thing from the get-go and if they didn't, they should try to fix it when somebody calls and complains about it. read more

Just came here for the first time on Tuesday and was back again today. Delicious Sicilian style fresh tomato pizza. Crisp, flavorful crust , fresh tomatoes , basil and just the right amount of fresh mozzarella. Other great varieties that I haven't sampled yet, but I'll be back to try. I am a big fan of this new pizzeria Italian restaurant here in Trumbull. Hailing from Brooklyn myself I do know good pizza :) this place knows its pizza, especially the Nonna, which is crushed tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and basil baked on a square ( pan pizza ) Delicious! Lots of other choices. Have not tried the other entree styles, just the pizza, and I am hooked. What makes this place also so special is the friendliness of the staff. They could not be more accommodating and interested in customers enjoying their time/experience while in the pizzeria. We have eaten in and ordered out for delivery, which is timely and with drivers who are friendly and very competent in handling money transactions. These are issues of the quality of the product but also of the staff that is hired. Attention to detail means a lot. I hope Crown establishes itself in Trumbull for many years to come. total experience was trash. if you ask for a cheese pizza their interpitation is some cheese on toast. No sauce at all. Also if you ask for a caprese salad with cheese on it they toss in a piece of kraft singles for you. I wouldn't feed this food to a starving dog on the street because it would be abuse. their waiting staff is crude and snobby after i left them a $5 for sub par service and they seemed pissy that they got even that. I really wanted to like this place but... I had pizza from Crown twice. The first time it was pretty good and I was pleased,... not anything to write home about but descent. I remember thinking, .. "Maybe a little better than Giove's" (the other pizza place in town). The second time I tried it, it was a disappointment. I like NY style thin crust pizza. I noticed that the pizza from Crown on this second visit did not have an even thickness to the crust (thin in the center but thicker as it got closer to the crust, seemed it could have either cook a bit longer or the oven needed to be at a higher temp. (was chewy rather than crisp and bready toward the crust). Also was a bit dry, definitely needed more sauce and probably maybe a sprinkle of olive oil. So my big issue was the inconsistency between the 2 visits. Who is making the pizza each night and where is the quality control? read more

I wanted to like them. The pizza was actually pretty good, and tasted just like NY style pizza as they claim. HOWEVER, one afternoon after eating a regular slice there with my boyfriend, I returned home with a horrible case of the runs. I guess someone didn't wash their hands properly when handling our food. My boyfriend decided to give this place another chance one day, and when he went to pick up his food he noticed that the cashier had open wounds all over his hands with what looked like puss coming out!!! SERIOUSLY HOW DISGUSTING AND HORRIFIC!!! What business owner allows their employee to handle food in those conditions?!?! And why hasn't the health department been called on this place yet?! Shame on you Crown Pizza, for allowing your employees to work around your customers food in such conditions! If nothing else, this place would get a big thumbs up from me because of their delicious Nonna's pizza. You HAVE to try it! Crust that's crisp on the outside, but not too thin, a slightly sweet sauce with good-sized chunks of (pomodoro?) tomato, fresh, not dried, basil, delicately flavored mozzarella, and a garlic-olive oil = perfection. But don't stop there--we've tried the sandwiches and a few slices of some of the other pies and they've all been top-notch. The staff is always extremely friendly and anxious to make sure our order is as we'd like. Delivery service has been great, too--always gets here within a half hour. Yes, there are other pizza places nearby, as some have noted here. But for our money, Crown Pizza is by far the best of the bunch. The restaurant isn't huge, but whenever we've been there we've seen plenty of tables available. It is very clean and bright. The parking lot is very large and I've never had trouble finding a spot. There is outside seating as well, with a roof to protect from the sun or rain. All in all, a great family place! read more
