I had the fish & chips. Three pieces of panko breaded cod that were fresh and juicy and big! The fries were average and plentiful. It came with a side of either potato salad of house salad. I opted for the salad with bleu cheese dressing. Nice salad, large, with croutons, tomato and shredded cheese, and the dressing was great with hunks of bleu cheese. First time here. Big menu selection mainly greasy spoon items. Was surprised to see Mexican food on the menu. The burger and onion rings I had were nothing special. It was ok not great. What was great was the service. Everyone seemed very friendly and smiled. The young man behind the counter was very polite, friendly and kind. I live in Tacoma but every now and then go to Monte for business. The first time I stopped at crow's nest for a quick meal on my way out of town and it's become a stop for me ever since. I love their burgers and milkshakes! The staff is friendly, I even saw the owners in the kitchen working away when I stopped by today! So if you are in the area, stop by and get a burger ... maybe add a milkshake .... what the heck, add an order of onion rings to it too. read more

The Crow's Nest serves nominal American fare at slightly elevated prices. The diner's most valuable attribute is undoubtedly its location and somewhat nostalgic feel: it is indeed reminiscent of a classic American drive-in, and the food tastes that way. Hamburgers are the thing to get here: everything else on the menu tastes straight out of the freezer. Milkshakes are wonderful. The staff is friendly if a bit slow. We ordered four cheeseburgers - all deluxe - and four large fries. Our order came to well over $45. The burger patties were thin and boring. Burger accoutrements included the requisite lettuce, tomato, and a few pickles. Fries were of the frozen variety, though they were cooked adequately and accompanied by a standard - albeit runny - mayo/ketchup fry sauce with very little zing. Serving sizes were impressive. The Crow's Nest does what it does acceptably but doesn't provide much value for its customers. Good burgers are plentiful in Grays Harbor, though outstanding burgers are more difficult to come by. The Crow's Nest is a predictable choice for a "classic" burger, though be prepared to be disappointed at the value. read more

Wow, yummy! I particularly loved the fried MAC n cheese. The kids burger is a perfect snack size burger or meal for smaller appetites. I like that they let you salt your own fries. HUGE menu, almost overwhelming. Service with a smile. We stopped here on our way out to Lake Sylvia State Park where we had an amazing day hiking around the lake and swimming and sunning in the sandy beach swim area. The food is great and we usually have great service but tonight was not good. As a waitress I have a LOT of patience for mistakes when I go somewhere. But this was not okay. They forgot our drinks They apologized and it was fine. But my boyfriend asked for no tomatoes and got tomatoes. His mom didn't have any tomatoes on hers when she asked for everything. The girl who took our order wrote it down fine but the order got lost in translation in the kitchen. I took my boyfriend's burger back up, very nicely, and asked for a new one. I said please and thank you.I sat back down and an older woman came out and said "what's the problem with just taking the tomatoes out? You can just do that?" I was floored. Yes he could have taken his tomatoes out and just gave them to his mom, but that's not the point. It should have been made correctly. You NEVER come out and chastise a customer. When we go to the beach or hunting we use to look forward to stopping there for a hamburger. The quality have been going down for the last several time. But this last time was terrible. The bacon was burnt and the hamburger was charcoal. The young lady that was cooking lack the knowledge of preparing a good meal. There was not anyone in the restaurant to report to about the bad service that could help us. We ended up leaving with a very poor experience for the second time. I worked here as one of my first jobs. Not only are the owners wonderful, caring people, they make damn good food. I moved to Los Angeles for college & searched endlessly for anything as amazing as Crow's Nest. My roommate would literally have me order food for her & take it back to her on the plane. Definitely better fresh, but you get the idea. It is absolutely one-of-a-kind & will always be my favorite burger place. read more

Regular cheeseburger is good, though nothing particularly special about it, Decor, etc was nothing fancy but the ladies working there were all really nice and the food came out fast, seemed clean enough. me and my boyfriend ordered a few items including chicken strips, when we got home we realized we got everything except the chicken strips so we drive back and i told them very polite that they didnt give us the chicken strips, they proceeded to interrogate me about why i didnt have them as if it was my fault they misplaced them. no apology and they were all very rude about it. treated me like i was a lying child. the manager was especially rude. they need training on customer service. wouldn't recommend to anybody read more

We don't have many options in this small town. It's hit or miss with this place. Basically had to toss my dinner in the garbage. We went through the drive thru and had to wait a very long time for our order to be done. When getting home (-5 mins away) and opening the bags-all of the items were cold. Food is okay, but customer service is terrible. The last 2 times I have been there they argued instead of just making the order right. Even the manager is rude and just prefers to argue instead of offering to make it right. Most of my order was missing, everyone else had their food. She just wanted to show me on the check that I didn't pay for it, therefore, I must not have ordered it. Just offer to get my drink and my fries!! I will pay for it!! How freakin' hard is that?? The burgers and fries were excellent....but was very disappointed by the service. I had ordered a root beer milkshake, and there was no taste of root beer in it at all. It tasted like a vanilla shake. My two adult sons also could not taste any root beer flavor. When I mentioned this to the server, she said, "Well, I put the root beer flavoring in it," and apparently that was that. No offer to make a new one with more flavoring, nor did she ask if I wanted a replacement drink of another kind. She just didn't really seem to care at all that I was unhappy with my drink. Whenever we drive close to Monty, we make sure we're hungry and stop for a burger. Burgers are fantastic, onion rings and freshly battered and cooked perfectly, and the french fries are perfect....long, thick cut fresh potatoes that are crunchy on the outside and pure potato yumminess on the inside. Everything is fresh. The fried food is clean tasting, unlike some other places where they don't change their oil frequently enough. This is super good! read more

The Crows Nest has been a Montesano staple for decades. I can remember going there when my cousin worked there. The food was yummy and the service was great. Today, after it being quite some time since my last visit, my cousin (who worked there), another friend, and I stopped to get some ice cream. We couldn't really understand what was said with the intercom and drove to the window. We asked the young lady working there, if they had soft serve ice cream. She informed us that they didn't; that they hadn't had it for 5 year years and proceeded to list the ice cream they did have like it was the most Herculean of tasks. So, we asked how the milkshakes were made then. She responded in the snootiest of tones, "With the milkshake mix." Businesses can't survive on just good food, they need excellent customer service to set them apart. Sadly, this girl helped set them apart in the wrong way. I am not the only one to complain of the service so I will leave some food for thought. Keeping this short as possible. We enjoy supporting local and small town businesses. We came for the lake and were looking for a quick bite on the way out of town. Usually small town burger joints are family friendly with hometown hospitality. NOT THIS PLACE. I'd highly recommend going elsewhere. In our short visit we had two small but significant issues. First of all: two people wanted cheese after we placed our $80 order. We offered to pay the .60¢ with a dollar bill. They said they'd have to ring the ENTIRE transaction up, void our credit card purchase and charge us again. To add cheese to our burgers. SHOULD HAVE JUST TOSSED IN THE CHEESE FOR FREE or just rang up .60¢. They said their owner would get too confused if they did it that way. Second. We ordered a fry or onion ring with every meal. In fact that's how we said it, "burger and fry and shake" etc. As we were splitting the order up into two bags for two separate cars we realized we were missing a fry. So we said, we're missing a fry. Instead of simply saying oh sorry, let us get you a fry (actual good customer service) they said, oh we didn't charge you for that many fries. They pulled out the order ticket and the till receipt and told us they would ring us up for another one. It showed where the girl had crossed out the 2 fries and put one. HER MISTAKE. We said, well we ordered it that way, it's not our fault you rung it up wrong. They refused and then we said, well we gave you a really good tip, so just take it out of that.They refused to do that either. They said they'd still have to ring the whole transaction in again to take off the tip to charge us for the fry that we originally ordered but they f'd up. Long story short, if this was bob or sue and not a family of brown people I'm sure we might have gotten better treatment. We should have just asked for a refund for the entire order and went on our way, but we are better people than that. GO ELSEWHERE. Don't waste your time thinking it's a nice little family joint that will give you good friendly customer service. Food is meh. Not worth the headache. read more
