Nice place. Hot dogs were good. Bailey recommended a can of beer. It was happy hour. Dogs came out per my request, onions and mustard. The seemed buns were warm and the hot dogs hot. Service was sparse. I sat at the bar. Sat there 6-8 minutes before the blonde person at the bar said hi. I had to wait another couple of minutes since she was talking to a guy behind the bar and a couple other people sitting at the bar. It sounded like friends, not customers. Eventually, another bartender came on named Bailey. She was service oriented and took my order. She knew I was ready and I think she understood. I was waiting a good 15 minutes before she got on the clock. It's funny how things work out. Bailey took my order of two hotdog, mustard and onions, and almost immediately the blonde bartender, I think her name is Taryn put dirty plates right in front of me. The dirty plates sat there a few minutes and when Bailey brought the dogs out she took away the plates for my request and apologized. When I asked Bailey for the bill, I was surprised to find a charges of $.50 for mustard and $1.00 for onions. I truly love a good hot dog and these were pretty good. I wish they were grilled, but I came to found out this establishment steams their dogs and they are a grill less & greaseless. Very green and I respect that. But a dog deserves a grill. Seeing the near perfect score of this relatively new restaurant, I tried their affordable lunch special today. For $15, they served up a 1/2 meatball sandwich with, in my case, a cup of tomato soup. Yes, this redundant order was entirely my fault. I could have mixed things up a bit; they do have a beer cheese soup that I can't wait to try, and other interesting options. The menu is clearly eclectic, underscoring the owners' big city (Chicago and Denver) roots. The soup was the star. The chef reached a nearly perfect blend of acid / base, and most notably, with the 3 types of tomatoes that they include, created a nice, hearty, meaty consistency. It's still soup, and civilized, with no nasty chunks in it. But it does have a nice body. The croutons with cheese coating are nearly imperceptible, due to their being broken. They add a nice taste to it. The meatball sandwich was also nice. It is small, being part of a lunch special, with high quality ingredients maintained. The meat itself was great and had a nice flavor, some spice, that well accented the tomato sauce. The bread was acceptable, although not the highlight. Service, location, parking, pricing, cleanliness etc were all tops. I highly recommend this place based on my experience today. read more

If you're in Grand Junction, do yourself a favor and visit Cruise Control. The atmosphere alone is worth the trip -- an incredible blend of art deco and boho vibes with so much personality packed into every corner. The decor is loaded with character, and the manager, Baylee, took the time to share the history of the owners and explain many of the vintage pieces on display. That personal touch made the experience even more special. And the food? Absolutely phenomenal. The Figgy Flatbread was THE best -- one of those dishes you immediately start craving again before you even leave the restaurant. But what really set this place apart was the customer service. My wife accidentally left her purse there while traveling through from out of state, and the staff went above and beyond to mail it back to us. That kind of kindness and care is rare these days. Apparently Cruise Control doesn't just help with road trips... they also help put your life back on cruise control once you get home. Highly recommend! read more

We visited Cruise Control Kitchen Sunday night and it was amazing! Baylee greeted us and quickly became a friend! Her food and drink recommendations were spot on and her company took our dining experience over the top! B recommended the cocktail flight for me and each drink was so yummy! We tried the Baker board-a hot out of the oven and "as big as your face" pretzel with 4 delicious dipping sauces to start. Soooo good! Then we shared an Italian salad to go with the Italian meat sandwich and the Windy Chicago dog. Everything was so tasty! We usually have a to go box whenever we go out to eat but not here at Cruise Control! We ate it all! Oh, we did take home some of the delicious potato chips dusted with their in house seasoning! Checked this out for the first time. The restaurant is on Colorado in the downtown of Grand Junction. Enjoyed the live music very much. Ordered a bottle of Open Range cab which was half price given its Valentines Day. Enjoyed the homemade chips. The Maverick was excellent. Service was excellent as well. A nice, welcoming edition to the downtown area. Definitely worth giving it a try. read more

Stopped in here for dinner tonight after a long day traveling. It hit the spot. Food and drinks were great! Service was wonderful and the place it's self is pretty cool. It was quiet on a Tuesday at 6pm but you could tell that as the night goes on more people would be here chilling, eating, drinking and playing games. They had quiet the game selection. We were in GJ for a weekend getaway to visit w/ my son at CMU for the weekend. We found Cruise Control on a whim a few few weeks earlier as we were preparing for the trip and wanted to check it out. We were not disappointed - the food (which the menu drew us in) was excellent, and the staff were excited to help us try their different bites and drinks. This place is what's up! Everything we tried was mouth watering from the cocktail flight to the Brie and goat cheese toffee pie at the end. This is a must when hanging out in Grand Junction! Authentic Chicago beef and Chicago style hotdogs, which are so rare to find out west. Lots of places try to reproduce the taste but this is the first time we found a place that gets it right, very right! All of the staff were cery friendly and there is a great mix of tables and couch areas to hang out. The extensive bar menu is a great find too. We got a chance to talk to the owners and with the husband from Chicago and the wife from Colorado, they have created an awesome blend of food from both areas. Highly recommend you stop by their place! We will certainly be back the next time we are in Grand Junction. You made these Chicago natives very happy! read more

"Elevated" experience was really underwhelming, overpriced, very disorganized, understaffed, worst service in recent memory, style over substance (an Italian beef sandwich on that style/size of plate?!), food was bland/nothing special, and I can't tell what this place is, a cocktail bar, a club with blaring music & bad acoustics, or a Chicago eatery, decor is confusing. Treated two friends to dinner, decided to try this place, and spent as much time looking at each other in disbelief as we did socializing, which definitely threw off the vibe for the evening. The cheap owner had a single employee to do the bartending *and* serving for the *entire* restaurant, and it was obvious by the service, nothing more awkward than having 2/3 meals sitting there on the table and the third, a freaking smashburger, takes 25 more minutes with the grill only 20 ft away, or having to constantly ask for my $18 martini that came out of a spigot ("elevated", really?!) or my friends' dessert, a scoop of gelato in a bowl, or the extra au jus that was ordered, or... The owner needs to take ownership, putting a single employee, let alone the paying customers through this is insane. Overall, this place feels like someone's half-assed execution of an impulsive idea and the market will soon cast it aside once the newness wears off... read more
