This would have been a one star review had it not been for our server. She is a gem. We sat on the patio during the Rod Run figuring we would have a beer and something to eat. Hubs ordered the Abominable fries with steak and bacon and I ordered them with chicken. My fries had chicken that was cold, like it was meant for a salad which made it weird to eat. The cheese was sparse but the fries were warm/hot. The other order had no bacon, fries were lukewarm at best and a piece of the steak was so bad he had to spit it out. The server was great. While spending the day in Temecula yesterday my wife and I learned of Thomson & Twin which is a speakeasy that we thought was new but has apparently been here for a while now. It's located right inside Crush & Brew which I've been to several times, but never knew they had a speakeasy. While waiting for our turn to enter, we were given a couple tickets for 10% off at C&B's bar, so we made our way over to it and were immediately greeted by Joey. Joey got me started on an old fashioned and prepared a bespoke drink for my wife which I believe had mezcal and bourbon both of which are her favorite spirits. The drinks were perfectly crafted and combined great spirits with flavors. After finishing our first round we asked for something else creative and kind of left it up to him to make us what he wanted. He then prepared a very refreshing tequila drink for her and a slightly different one for me which had flavors of cucumber and was all around a very refreshing drink. We even got to sample a little bit of his version of an espresso martini which was quite delicious and could definitely get you in trouble if you're not careful due to how great it was. We had a great time at Crush & Brew while waiting to get in to Thompson & Twain and Joey made sure that everyone at his bar was getting taken care of. The beers were OK, and the food was just OK. My friend enjoyed her mocktail. The server was attentive, and checked on us often. I would probably get a cocktail next time. For the food, specifically we ordered the pork belly fries, and they were definitely undercooked and had very little pork belly on them. The fish and chips had a really nice breading, but overall the flavor of the fish was pretty bland even with tartar sauce. The real saving grace of this place was the speakeasy located inside. Johnny made me feel right at home with his humor and hospitality. He made me my very first Saturn and I was super impressed. This place has really changed. It's been about 8 years since I've been to this location. And wow, it doesn't even seem like the same place! It's wild. It used to be more of a restaurant. Now it's set up more like a bar. The chairs are all uncomfortable stools. With exception to a few normal chairs inside. My butt was hurting after the first 30 minutes. I guess they don't want people to stay long? The food was decent. Nothing spectacular. I really enjoyed the charcuterie board with cheese and fruit. There was a handful of people inside so we assumed it would be a swift little lunch. BOY were we wrong!! Service was slow and unaccomadating. Kitchen was "backed up" so food came out after 45min of waiting... and our food came out separately. We got: Buffalo chicken wings - dry, tough and not enough sauce Avocado toast - overpriced, a quarter of an avocado and under seasoned Turkey Club subbed chicken - they ran out of turkey. Unfortunately, we had mixed opinions on the food we ordered. - Happy hour starters were priced between 5$-7$, which isn't bad at all, but the food quality wasn't quite there. The calamaris were over fried and had not so pleasant taste. Chicken wings were okay. Nice glaze flavour but the wings were tad on a dry side. - Our group's mains were hit and miss too. 1. Flat bread was very tasty. The toppings and sauce had good flavours. The dough came well done and crispy as requested. 2. Cajun shrimp dish was presented well. The sauce had mild spiciness and acidity which paired well with shrimp. The polenta was too clumpy. 3. Halibut fish wasn't seasoned, however, other ingredients on the plate were which helped when paired with the fish. 4. Linguine with clams had pasta cut into small pieces which was odd. From the moment we walked in, Erinn was there to help us set up the dessert bar and make sure all of our needs were met. Maddie was our server for the evening and was so accommodating! First off because it is Mother's Day I expected a wait... however , our reservation was at 11 am, there were 6 off us the restaurant was empty I mean empty except two other tables. We ordered the pretzel appetizer, it took 30 minutes to get and the cheese dip was was cold, first sign of trouble. We all ordered our meals, after 50 minutes now 12:15 we asked where our food was and were told it was being plated... another 5 minutes goes by and they brought out one plate chicken tenders and fries ICE COLD.... AFTER 20 more minutes 2 more plates came out all ice cold, finally we asked to speak to a ,manager as this was ridiculous and we were hungry and upset.... The manager excuse was they were working with a CRAFT KITCHEN ..... like what ? Bottom line we never got the remaining meals and told the manager this was unacceptable service for the prices they were charging... other patrons were complaining as well so it was not just W We were in this restaurant from 11:00 AM UNTIL 1:15 pm and never received all our food. Manager apologized and we did not pay for the few items we received..... I usually come up to Crush and Brew for their happy hour. Their staff is always very friendly and easy to talk to. Plus they have a great happy hour from 4-7pm. Tonight, I asked for a flatbread pizza which under happy hour is $9 vs. the usual $20. They ran out of the flatbread but instead put it on focaccia bread. It was actually delicious! After a long day of viewing nee builds in the area. We stumbled upon this cute restaurant in Old Town Temecula. We were able to find parking right away on a Sunday afternoon. Joey (I believe that was our server's name), but super sweet and attentive. Since we were visiting the area, we asked him about his experience in Temecula, how he liked the area, and what were some things to do in the area besides wine tasting. He was really kind to chat with us for a bit and let us know there's a speakeasy in the restaurant! He also let us go see if at well even though it wasn't open yet. The speakeasy was very cool and had a great vibe to it despite not having any patrons until 5pm. The food was good - typical burgers, flatbreads, salads, and entrees. I think what really stood out were their drinks. They have a great variety of cocktails for everyone and also offered a wine flight. The only negative was my bf's fries came out cold, but they did re-fire another order for us, and apologized.
