I think Crushed Red executes fast casual pretty well. They have some shareable plates mostly dips and things to dip in the dips if you're here with a group. Most likely you'll end up coming here though for lunch or dinner. I've tried their flatbreads which I found to be pretty tasty but what I enjoy the most are their salads. My favorite so far is the Wild Spring Salmon Salad. It has spinach and romaine chopped up nicely with cucumber and red onion and topped with goat cheese, almonds, mandarin oranges, and a nice piece of salmon (chilled). The dressing is a sesame ginger dressing which is fairly light and they don't over do it with the dressing which I like. The chop that they do on the base ingredients in the salad gives all of their salads a nice texture and makes them super easy to eat. You can swap out proteins in their salads pretty easily so I've gone with sirloin steak instead of salmon in the salmon salad and actually enjoyed that combination too. The delux-berry crunch and healthnut salads are also good too. One thing to keep an eye on though is that if you're thinking you are eating healthy just by ordering a salad you have to be a bit careful here. Some of their salads are I'm sure delicious but loaded with calories and fat. They have a convenient nutritional menu available too if you care about that kind of stuff. The healthiest options are probably the ones I mentioned above or a custom salad where you are mindful of the ingredients. This is true of many fast casual places though trying to sell fresh fast ingredients to you. My husband works in Clayton and says they get incredibly busy for lunch and there can be a bit of a wait sometimes. We've never had any trouble for dinner though tend to eat later dinners. read more

Although the food was decent, the customer service left a lot to be desired. If you have a food allergy, beware: the employees literally have no idea what they're talking about and no idea what ingredients are in their food. I asked a simple question regarding allergens, and could not find anyone to give me a solid answer. The answer I kept getting was "we don't know what's in our food." So, I asked if they could find someone who did, thinking that surely someone must know if certain allergens are present. Wrong--the answer I received next was "we're busy and don't have time to find the ingredient list." After explaining, once again, that my allergy was life-threatening, FINALLY someone was able to give me a solid answer after I threatened to sue the company. Point being: if you really want to eat at this restaurant with a food allergy, make sure you have a painstakingly long amount of time to get the answer you need. But when I get a salad I have to spend 10 minutes cutting it up properly and then usually the lettuce flings out of the bowl and it's just a mess..........well problem solved with Crushed Red! I have been here a few times and I really like all of the food items I have tried. The fact that they slice, dice, chop, every salad ingredient into perfect bit sized morsels is pure genius. Every bite of my salad always has some of the "good stuff" in it, and not just lettuce! I've tried a few of their flatbread pizza, and also was impressed. The ingrediants are super fresh and delicious. My only complaint is that maybe there should be trays to help get your food and drink glasses to the table. After I ordered two salads and drinks for myself and my grandmother (who was already seated) it was hard for me to get everything back to the table along with my wallet. Consistently great lunch spot! It's like subway/chipotle for salads. Everything is fresh and made to your liking. Definitely try the Green dressing! This is one of my new favorite places for dinner. I like the way it looks inside and it has great ambiance. And they have several kinds of ice tea to choose from. A must for me. Have had the Mona Lisa Pizza twice and the Chicken Chipotle Salad on one occasion which was amazing. The next time I had the Samurai Salad, which was just ok. It's very cheap and fast, but it feels like a place you can hang out with friends for a while. You do order at the counter and you order salads and pizzas at two different places which is very odd. I really miss Il Vicino. So we are excited to find pizza and salads in Clayton. I really like how the salads have different sizes, so you can get a small salad and your pizza and it's not a huge amount of food. The pizzas are good; I do like the crust. Nice and chewy. The one drawback to the place is that you have to go up to one register, order your pizza, then move down the line and order your salad from someone else, then when you get your salad you go to another register and pay and get glasses for soda or whatever. Then you claim a table. It's confusing, especially if you haven't been there before. Also even though there are several signs stating you should order and THEN get a table, if it's crowded people will ignore those signs. That's on them, though, not on Crushed Red. But maybe there could be a sign about how to order? read more

It took me way too long to hit this place up, but now I have been there two times in five days. If your in the mood for pizza/flatbread, but not in the mood to feel disgusting afterwards, this is the spot for you. I must say my favorite aspect of Crushed Red is the build your own salad area. Super-fresh ingredients, more topping options than you can think of, and delicious dressings. The pizza options are actually more flatbread options, but also amazing. The broccoli cheddar soup left a little to be desired (whats with everyone's BC soup being too salty lately??)...but other than that the execution and dining area were flawless. As others have mention beware of getting behind a family that can't seem to agree on the play-call- can majorly delay your culinary fun. They make the salad in front of you and serve an almost greaseless pizza. I have never been disappointed with anything I have ordered. Great visit to Crushed Red today -- get there early tho! By 1145, the line was out the door! I had the Health Nut ($6) which has broccoli, edamame, carrots, toasted almonds, dried cranberries, & garbonzo beans with spinach & romaine -- and I added pesto grilled chicken and subbed the goddess dressing for the vinegrette. Really good!! The medium sized salad is plenty for lunch. Coworkers tried the pizza and said they were pretty good too -- but, the guys in the group were still hungry because the pizzas were pretty small. Go for the salads -- can't go wrong! read more

I'm in St. Louis for a couple of days visiting my boyfriend, and we decided to grab lunch near his office. He asked if I wanted a salad, and I agreed. I'm assuming he frequents this place because it was his first option. The decor inside was nice and relaxed. We walked up to the counter where they had a bunch of ingredients to make your own salad, flatbreads, and etc.. The guy making our food seemed a little discombobulated. It took him a while to come and address us, but when he did, it seemed as if he barely understood what we were saying. Now to the food. It was just okay. The lettuce seemed borderline old (brown in a few spots) and the price of salmon was very small. Went here for dinner on Saturday night! I had the Welcome Back Cobber salad and it was really good. I did ask for mushrooms and I think they put them on the friend I was with salad and not mine but that's okay. I'd heard a lot of great things about this place and, after looking at their website, couldn't wait to give it a try. We did take out from them recently and was a bit disappointed. I had a Shrimp & Artichoke pizza and my wife had the Blistered Corn, Asparagus and Pesto pizza. Both were too salty and the Shrimp just didn't taste good at all (they were poorly seasoned). My daughter created her own salad which she enjoyed a lot. The ingredients did seem fresh and I was happy to find a place that my daughter will get something on the healthy side. Walked in and girl up front told us to sit anywhere. She then came up and told us that putting our stuff at the table was against the rules and we had to hold our laptop cases, backpacks, coats, and marketing materials while we waited for food. I understand the need to keep tables open but there were multiple tables available. Manager then came over and asked us to hold everything why we wait or leave even though the girl originally told us to sit anywhere. Insanely rude and bad policies.
