Pasta House is the local equivalent of Olive Garden in the St. Louis metro area. The food isn't great, but it's predictable. Because of this, we don't mind eating there every couple of months. This location seems to be newer, and has opened in the past year or two. The atmosphere was bright and cheery, but notably smaller than their other locations. We couldn't help but notice a musty smell upon walking in, almost like the building was "wet". The food and service were fine. We had Megan, and she was attentive and friendly. We split a Pasta House salad (yummy but nothing beats Rich & Charlie's). We also got entrees: I got a burger (surprisingly good, the shoestring fries were crispy), and my Mom got cannelloni (she said they tasted lukewarm in the middle, but the flavor was good). Don't come to Pasta House looking for a gourmet meal, but if you lower your expectations-- it's not a bad place to enjoy an Americanized Italian meal. read more

Feeling pretty mixed about our recent dinner at the Kirkwood location of this local chain, we've never been to this particular location. We arrived between 6:30 and 7 on a Saturday night with a party of 4 adults. The place was nearly deserted with the exception of two tables of older adults who were just wrapping up their meal. So we were seated immediately and within seconds a waiter appeared wanting our order. We asked just for drinks while looking over the menu. I asked about whether or not the whole artichoke appetizer was available, he seemed confused but quickly said, "i don't THINK so," no offer to confirm, despite this being prime season for artichokes. Strange. We subsequently ordered: tortellini for me, the pork chop special for my husband, manicotti and pasta con broccoli for our friends). Food arrived quickly, but no offer of grated parmigiana or fresh pepper and no opportunity to ask. Every visit to the table felt like a hit and run. My husband loved his meal (it looked wonderful), my friends said theirs were "fine," while my tortellini tasted...old? I have this dish regularly at other locations and it just didn't compare. The check arrived in another hit-and-run, no offer of dessert or coffee. All in all, it was "fine," nothing awful, but for sure not an experience I'd like to repeat. I realize an authentic Italian experience in the US is very rare, but this was as far from Italy as we can get - rushed, not delectable, bill presented like an invitation to get out, no coffee, etc. that mostly comes down to service. I really hate leaving lukewarm feedback, but lukewarm kind of defines the whole experience. A little more authentic, Italian hospitality would go a long way here. read more

Definitely better than Olive Garden. This is a go to for our family where everyone gets something they like. Great place to sit down and eat especially with little ones who are picky eaters. It is pricey depending on the meal - so I'd suggest going for lunch or a time they have specials. The Alfredo and garlic cheese bread are must haves! read more

We passed by Pasta House on a weeknight and saw that they had live music (a keyboardist) on the patio and enjoyed a nice dinner with my kids outside. I loved the eggplant parmesan and garlic bread appetizers ($2 off during happy hour). My kids ordered toasted ravioli and cheese stick kids meals, both of which tasted like the boxed kind that I can buy at the grocery store freezer section (but they didn't mind). The chicken parmesan entree was delicious but the breading was a little soggy. We did like the shell pasta that it came with on the side. Overall it was a fine meal especially for a chain restaurant and we do like using their catering menu for bigger groups, especially their Family Meal Deals! read more

So it's March and I hadn't actually eaten at a Pasta House restaurant since October or November. If you know me you know that's rare and I typically eat there pretty regularly. This was my first time at the new Kirkwood location. It's clean and new and the place was not busy at 5pm on a weekday. I ordered the 6pc toasted ravioli and the Pasta con Broccoli (no mushrooms). Pasta House has changed a lot of their products over the last few years. The toasted ravioli have been about the size of a quarter for a couple of years and these seemed slightly larger. They always taste good. The Pasta con Broccoli was as expected but maybe the sauce was a little thin? It only takes another couple of minutes for the sauce to reduce some more and thicken up. Service was friendly. I'm sure I'll be back. read more

We came on a Friday night (before that I honestly can't remember the last time I went to a PH. Place was busy, but we got seated right away (different from the old PH I remember going to when I was in HS, lol). Our server...wished I remembered his name was top notch! The food however, is what it is. Not the best, but is just OKAY. My daughter however thought their mac and cheese was everything and ate every bite! One thing that was pretty disappointing was the pitcher of red sangria. It was all juice, but my husband ordered red wine and we added it to it and it made a difference. read more

Let's start this review by acknowledging the food at Pasta House. It's OK. You can make better pasta at home or get the salad at a certain spot in town that actually created jt. But those fries... superb. Anyway, good schmood, let's talk about my most recent pasta house experience. It was a Friday at 5 and we wanted to beat the dinner rush with two small kids. We thought we might be able to do it at Pasta House. We were seated right away and our drink orders were taken before our jackets hit our chairs. Our waitress was amazingly attentive and courteous, making sure the kids got bread to nibble ASAP. The place filled up, but we got our food quickly, our server kept checking back, and probably helped avoid a meltdown or two with an emergency apple juice refill. As a led off with, the food was OK. Chicken risotto for my wife, carbonara that resembled Alfredo for me, we shared a salad, spaghetti and meat sauce for the kids, and fries for the table. Seriously they should just change their name to shoestring fry house. Those things were . If they had a chicken Parm sub and those fries, I'd go back all the time. For making dinner with two kids under 4 easy, pasta house earned our business. Also, we didn't drink that night, but the bar there looked like it was laid out nice. So an adult night out of happy hour might be in the cards. read more

This is a new location, but I think it's been open for a few months. I believe this spot is where the original St. Louis Bread Company location was back in the day. The furnishings and decor are brand new. It's standard Pasta House with a bit of a modern twist. You've still got the Italian versions of classic movie posters, but I didn't see any stacked olive oil or tomato sauce containers. It also has a large bar, plenty of large TVs and a patio. Sort of Pasta House meets Sports Bar? Standard Pasta House menu. The classics are still there and they've added some new stuff. There are some seasonal ravioli options at the moment. Great service even for a large party dropping in right after they opened. read more

Had a horrible experience at the Kirkwood Pasta House today, ordered the lasagna after having trouble finding it on the menu but seeing a picture of it on one of the pages, it looks quite large and filling. Once we all ordered and it was brought out I couldn't believe how tiny it was, we're talking maybe 6 bites of food for $18,99! I was livid and let the waiter know, he blamed the kitchen staff, I would've pressed to speak to the manager and get a discount, but I had my young children with me so just paid and left upset. I will no longer be going back, the prices were absolutely INSANE for the portion sizes and the quality was only average to under-average. read more

Great to have this new Pasta House near my daughter's house. We loved the one in university city. Always relatable and great service

I just walked into the pasta house at 6:07 on Friday evening. My plan was to sit at the bar and have a drink and get something to eat. As I walked by the front of the restaurant, I noticed that it was not too busy so I figured the service would hopefully be quick. The bar also had several empty seats. When I walked in the hostess told me that because they were too busy they would not be able to help anybody for 25 minutes to a half an hour. I truthfully thought that she was kidding at first until it became clear that she was not. While I would like to be able to review the food and the service I obviously cannot do that because I left. I highly doubt that I will return as I obviously am not interested in going to a restaurant that's about half occupied to be told that I need to wait about a half an hour. The food is just frozen heated and sauce added. I ordered meatballs with a Caesar salad to go with it. The food just wasn't very appealing.

On President's Day, a friend and I went to this Pasta House to have a late lunch. Since it was cold, I asked the waitress for decaf coffee and was told that none had come "on the truck" which had brought the supplies the last time it came. There is a grocery store across the street, and anyone working there could have bought enough coffee until the 'truck' came again. I asked for hot tea, and was told that it was black tea, and had caffeine in it. I didn't want that either, but she didn't offer to check to be sure. I ended up with hot water and lemon to drink. Halfway through the meal, our waitress disappeared, so I was unable to get a refill of the hot water. All during our meal, we noticed that the people at the next table ordered mixed drinks, and there seemed to be no shortage of alcoholic beverages. But the owners/managers didn't seem to be able to get decaf coffee. I like Pasta House, so I'm planning to go to a different one from now on. read more

We went for lunch a few weeks ago. I like the cavatelli con broccoli, which is a favorite. I was less than 1/8 through the entree when I felt something hard and metal like in my mouth. Upon inspection, it appeared to be a twisted staple. The manager was summoned and without hesitation, she said "It is a scrub wire from a cleaning utensil." Of course, our meal was comped, but any desire to return to Pasta House is loooong gone! read more

Perhaps as St Louisans we take PH for granted, but the last two times my family has eaten here, we've gone home quite happy. Add in happy hour pricing on certain items, excellent service from our server Misty, and good food served hot, and it's a winning combo for us.
