Cute place, people were nice, but the food was very disappointing. I got it to go and my salad had so many crumbs from breadcrumbs in it that it was gross and mushy. The chicken in my salad tasted like bland boiled chicken, zero flavor. For people who swim their salad with dressing maybe they wouldn't notice but I do. Tried Crushed Red for a staff lunch the other day. Over the lunchtime was very busy yet we had a nice experience. The wait to order / get food was a bit long... worth the wait. Food was fantastic! I think the 3 overall on Yelp is about right. Tried it out. Had a hand crafted pepperoni sausage pizza with tomato sauce. It was tasty, little bland and very light on the cheese. My wife had a SW Salad which was good but not sold on how it was SW. we shared the artichoke dip served with pieces of a delicious cracker thin and some crust pieces. Picked up dinner from here the other day after ordering online. We spent a fair bit because I wanted to try a handful of things here. My wife's salad was made wrong - they added gorgonzola despite the order saying no gorgonzola, and my wife hates gorgonzola, so she couldn't really even eat her salad. She also had a bowl of the sweet potato southwest soup. She loves sweet potatoes, but found the soup to be very bland. My daughter's kids pizza was pretty good though on the expensive side for the size. She enjoyed it. My salad with shrimp and steak was on the meh side in terms of portion size for the money as well. It was ok, but not as good as I was hoping for in general in terms of overall quality. The steak was bland, brown cubes of meat, the shrimp was marinated in something that made it kind of limp. In addition, I had a bowl of the shrimp chowder soup. Which, despite being a bowl sized portion, had not a single shrimp in it. Very disappointing. Had it had shrimp, it may have been better, but overall the flavor was ok but not exciting. The highlight and best item overall was the appetizer which featured some crispy cracker and bread with a goat cheese and dried cranberry dip. This was actually very good but again small portion. Overall, just not impressed. Bland food and small portions at a premium price point, plus a messed up order means I won't bother trying this place again. read more

The layout is very confusing, it was hard to figure out if I was supposed to sit or order somewhere. I ordered the Pesto Shrimp a Salad and it was probably the saltiest salad I have ever had. A first timer who had never heard of Crushed Red until one was built near my office and opened six months ago. I tried it tonight because a coworker told me they'd eaten here and that it was good. Worked late and didn't want to eat leftovers again, so I came for salad. I didn't realize they also make pizza. And serve wine. I debated between the Farmers Market and the De-Lux Berry Crunch. Asked for a recommendation and based on that, went with the berry. Got the salad to go, with dressing on the side. It made a nice, compact little presentation. The salad is heavy on granola and kale and light on all the other ingredients. I was skeptical of the lemon dressing because it looks watery, but it's actually very good and compliments the other flavor nicely. I ordered a regular salad which was $10, a little high for a salad with no meat and a tiny bit of cheese. But I think I got all my greens for the week in one meal. Bonus! I was curious about the calories and quickly found their online nutrition information. They only provide stats for mini salads. My salad doesn't look anything like the salad on their website which I find curious. I can understand not having strawberries...it is November in Kansas City. Our salads were very fresh though and it was a good portion, but everything was lacking in flavour, including our margherita pizza. Also, the setup of the line was confusing. It wasn't busy, but three of us kind of got trapped in the middle. The issue was that you order soups/pizza in one spot, salads in another, and drinks somewhere else. Let me start with the food is amazing! My favorite salad in town. Would've probably been one of my favorite restaurants but decided to actually go in and eat rather than takeout. The service disappointed me. All the employees seemed mad, I think I saw a total of one smile. The first thing i saw when ordering was an employee throwing a receipt, saying a cuss word because they were mad about the work they had to do - not even apologizing! We've wanted to try Crushed Red for a few months and finally had the chance to give it a go today. First impression: It's easy to reach but difficult to park. During the height of the lunch rush, it's a battle for parking. The restaurant itself has a hipster environment. There are little touches like cloth napkins and metal silverware that are a nice touch. Menu: The menu had plenty of options for everyone. With so much customization, it would be hard NOT to find something you would enjoy. I think even your classic meat-and-potato diner would still find something! Price: Being in Leawood, I guess it goes without saying that it's a little more expensive than you would expect. It's quality ingredients but the portions aren't large enough to justify the price. Technology: The technology used by Crushed Red is amazing. When you order, you don't get a receipt. You get a tracking device. When you go to the cash register to pay, it knows your order. When you put it on the table, the server knows where to go. It's crazy awesome!! Food: The food was pretty good! The ingredients tasted fresh, and there wasn't anything we ordered that we wouldn't want to order again. Service: This is where I think Crushed Red both fails and wins. Someone is there to clean off your table quickly, and the turn around is very impressive. However, the food service is a different story. We made alternations to our meals (taking off an ingredient, adding one in, etc.), and none of the alternations were actually made. As a result, we were picking off the ingredients we didn't want. Considering the price, I was very disappointed. It wasn't like we were asking for something complicated. It was a as simple as an order without tomato and one without onion. My combo was brought out to me in a timely manner. My salad seemed a little bland in spite of all the ingredients. My biggest complaint is the dressing is combined and tossed in the salad. I like to dip my fork in my dressing to cut down my calories. My soup was very flavorful. I think paying almost for this combo is a little steep. Went to crushed red in Overland Park in April 2023 and had not been there for a couple of years. I stopped going mainly because of price point. I was getting a $14 salad(pear on fire) that the only protein in it was bacon crumbles. Their salads are yummy, but the ratio of greens to toppings is a bit too low. I would be much happier with a cheaper salad that had fewer(unhealthy) toppings, and more healthy greens. This year I went to find that the same salad now cost nearly $19. I know inflation is a thing but that is absolutely crazy. They have tried to conceal this by putting only the small salad price on their in house menus which is also a little cagey, imo. Good luck crushed red--I love eating healthy salads, but I have no place in my world for a $20 entree with no protein. Service-excellent. Food--great. Ambiance-fine. Price--:( read more

Great place! Went for lunch and had half soup (roasted red pepper and Gouda) and half salad (welcome Back Cobber) - both were delicious! It was a nice day so we sat outside on patio which was nice. Looked like they had a good selection of wine and beer, teas and soft drink. Also they had flatbreads and a kids menu. My husband ordered a large cobb salad for himself and the large emerald coast salad for me, both to-go. The bill was $25 total for two salads. For over $12 per salad I would expect a tasty salad and decent portions. This unfortunately wasn't the case at all. The portions were very small and mostly comprised of lettuce. The salads were fairly flavorless and I could tell they relied heavily on the dressing to provide any flavor. The lettuce also seemed watered down and the salad was soggy. Amazing! Health, Fresh, so very happy to have discovered this place. I love the elevated dining room experience with napkins and real silverware. The menus with options or create yourself is great. I had The Greek on fleek flat bread taco with a small salad. So amazing. Love having wine options as well. I will drive from downtown specifically to eat there. Crushed Red is a favorite treat of mine in St Louis, but it seems the one in OP is missing the mark a bit. I got the This Pear is On Fire Salad which I have had many times. The bacon bits were either so hard I couldn't break it up or so chewy that I had to spit it out. The pear was not ripe at all, so between that and the bacon, there were just a lot of inedible parts of the salad which is disappointing when it's $12. We got the Chicken Gorgonzola pizza which was much better (we swapped onions and tomatoes for caramelized onions and mushrooms). Though again for its size, $10 is a bit steep. We will probably just stick to Crushed Red being an occasional treat since it was pretty disappointing today. read more

Glassware for drinks. Contemporary styling inside. Michelob Ultra "ON TAP"! Cons: create your own pizza is pricey if you're a meat-loving carnivore ($6.50 to start + $1.50 - $2 per topping) but it was very good. Ordering method is odd, I can see it causing a bottle neck during peak hours. Table needed cleaning. Big Con: Asked to tip before they did anything other than take my order - big no-no. Just because some other place does that doesn't make it a good idea for the customer. Summary: great food & atmosphere but clunky ordering system and premature tipping request. To improve, switch from 3 counter location ordering method to a traditional sit-down server/waiter style restuarant and ask for a tip after the customer has been able to determine if you have earned it. read more

I'm a fan! I'm always looking for good lunch places near the office and this might be one of my favorites yet. I had the bbq chicken salad and shared the goat cheese shareable. Both were delicious.
