I normally choose to support local card shops rather than ordering online but that is changing now. Card shops used to be a place where you would go as a kid and look around and purchase a pack or two. These people want you to support their shop but they don't really care about the card shop experience. Case in point is I showed up with my 2 kids and there was a line of about 50 people outside. The people outside said to go inside if you aren't there for some random card release for a specific genre. I was there to grab starter decks from Magic for my son and I and then pokemon for him and his sister to open. We were turned away at the door and told to wait in line; couldn't even browse the store. In what world is having a 5 year old and a 3 year old wait behind 50 grown adults who are there for another card release in 96 degree weather the classic card shop experience? I will not be returning as I had to come back and drop another $1200 that evening so my kids weren't entirely let down, but that was the last time. After talking to two cashiers about it, they didn't seem to care at all. Not expected since it's minimum wage but I don't see this place sticking around in a decade or if there's another government shutdown for whatever BS reason. I have probably spent about 10k this past year at this store which isn't much (I only go in once a month if that) but if they keep catering to scalpers that drive from all over verses their local community, they will not reach much success. I run a 50 million dollar company so they should take my advice because this shit is basic. Here's a thought, have a dedicated cashier or POS tablet to go and check out everyone outside instead of making toddlers stand in line in nearly 100 degree weather. Use your brain. I was pleasantly surprised with how large the shop is, with a huge collection of comics, games, and all kinds of tabletop gaming supplies. The staff were helpful and kind to my small children that were tagging along, they even had an entire section of comics and books for the little ones. I can't imagine coming back here often because of the distance. I wish there was a spot like this near me, and highly recommend it as a spot for gamers and comic fans of all ages.

I called first and then a lady on the phone said they have troves in stock. So we came in. Waited patiently in store to ask if they had any troves, saying we called ahead. The workers, lady and a man behind the registers "checked" to see if they had any stock, they looked at each other and asked if we played there in store. Not wanting to lie, we said no, and they immediately said no that they didn't have any stock. It was obvious they were lying. How can any person with a conscience lie like that to people and lie to family? We even told them this is how we encourage our son to read. But nothing. We aren't scalpers, we want to play the game. As a family. Being treated like that really leaves a bad impression and gatekeeping product for "their" players isn't cool. And if they want to do that they should set it aside and not include it in their stock. Or just say they don't have any. I can be okay with that. But to drive all the way there and ask and be treated like that makes me want to not support your business or play in your shop.

Their pricing is usually about $10 more than msrp, which is honestly so good compared to buying directly from resellers. They're always so friendly too! I also love that they limit pokemon tcg to one item per person. So if they have booster bundle and etbs, you can only choose one of them. They also sell loose packs from a booster box, where you can buy a max of 6. I truly love that they limit everyone to one so that there's enough to go around. We've been able to score some packs for decent pricing since pokemon had an uptake in collectors :) Aside from that, they also sell smiskis and sonny angels as well for about msrp!

That kind of atmosphere makes a big difference for collectors. The shop itself is clean and well organized, which makes browsing through cards enjoyable. Also quick tip for any one, if your looking for Pokémon cards here check the crimps and the packaging on them if there loose or not sealed well there fakes and as mentioned cards shouldn't emit any light through them... first of all, what at amazing selection! there was at least 10 people when i came in and i still…read moremanaged to have a section to myself and just peruse! they also gave me the impression that they were strict on accurate description of the condition of their inventory as i inspected the cards myself. second, lets talk about service. the moment you walk in, you are greeted. that tells me they acknowledge that you are there and that theyre ready if you need anything. they also had a list going on for ppl selling/trading with the shop, which i thought was a great idea so its not like a bar at a club and everyone just fighting for the bartenders attention. both the staff that worked today were extremely polite and so pleasant to deal with! the gentleman was attentive and the lady had such a great personality that never skipped a beat even when helping multiple customers! third, lets talk value. theres a reason they dont need to haggle, they know their prices. no overpriced cards just to get them down to reasonable, some even favorable pricepoints. this place is incredible and is easily one that i would highly recommend to my friends in the Lake Forest area! cant wait for my return trip when i pick up my stuff thank you Treasure Chest Collectibles!
