Restaurant is very nice looking both outside and inside. It is clean, including the restrooms. The food, we had lunch, was 2 stars at best! Service was prompt and courteous. Okay, so the ice tea was weak, the matzo balls were still cold and the broth was so so. The meatloaf on the sandwich appeared to be fried to warm it up. The veal parm. panini was mediocre. Great service. The coffee was slightly burnt, but it was constantly refilled. I had the French Toast Deluxe, which included French Toast, ham, bacon, and a sausage, all for $8.95. This may have been the worst meal I've ever had. We were back in Nj (we moved to Nc a could of years ago) and were excited to be able to go to a diner, so we stopped here. I met a client there for business and we only had coffee. The manager looked perturbed when I requested a booth with an outlet nearby. When I received the check the charge was for $16.00 as the policy there is $4.00 minimum per person. Even so the server was nice and I left a decent tip. Went for lunch the other day. This place has went down hill badly. We used to enjoy the food now food is just horrible. I had a hot open roast beef and the meat was terrible. The service was terrible. The manager was incredibly rude and rambled. I met with my sisters who I had not seen in quite some time just for some coffee and to catch up, we all had eaten prior before going to the diner. Our waitor comes over and says that there is a "4.00$ table fee per person" and that we all have to pay even though we did not order food. After hearing of this we decided it wasnt worth it so we got up and left, the manager comes running out as we are at the door and goes on about how rude we are using up his air conditioning and drinking his water and how we didnt pay our bill. The coffee was 2$ so my sister left 6$, 4$ for a tip. We explained this but the manager was relentless and called us rude and was getting in our faces, eventually we just walked away. went to crystal diner, sunday, august 19th. I ordered beef goulash. As soon as the waitress brought it, I noticed a bug on it, I immediately called it to her attention. She was so sorry, told manager, manager went back to kitchen. The waitress came back and said how sorry she was, I said I thought the manager should have come over. She went and told him that, and then he came over and said he was sorry but it probably had just fallen into it, my husband said you are a little late coming over, and we said we probably wouldn't come back, he said oh ok and went back to sit in his booth. Here on vacation and decided to stop at the Crystal Diner. The outside is very inviting and the inside also being very clean. The service was very satisfactory and the food was also up to par. Not a five restaurant so don't expect five star meals. Has your typical diner choices along with some warm home cooked style meals. read more

My boyfriends side salad was served with an onion which appeared to have mold on it. When I told our waitress about it she said that it was "just dirt" but she would take it in the back. Never offered to make a new salad or anything. Afterwards she had a crappy attitude towards us. If the food we ordered wasn't being served the next time she came over, we would've told her to cancel the order and we'll eat at Wawa instead. Honestly, eating at McDonald's would've been more appetizing. My boyfriends fettuccini Alfredo sauce was very obviously from a jar and the chicken was 100% frozen. I can get better quality at Walmart. My gyro was questionable and after the salad incident, I removed all of the lettuce, onion, and tomato from it. The only positive experience we had were the sweet potato fries. Definitely would not recommend this place to anyone. If I could give negative stars I would. Staff was very lazy and uncaring with bitchy attitudes. The manager was aimlessly walking around looking clueless. We boxed up the remaining fettuccini and purposely left it on the table. We usually have very polite table etiquette and clean up our messes, push everything towards the end of the table, etc. but after the experience we had, we left things as they were and barely tipped the waitress. Just went here last night for the first time! It was late, we were starving and we drove by and said what the heck let's go somewhere we never been! I'm glad we did. First off, the service was extraordinary, so sweet, nice and acoomodating. The food was great especially the sweet potato fries which just happens to be my favorite food ever! Food was diner average. Yummy home made rolls, very generous servings. What made the experience great was our server Heather.
