Orange tofu. Way over cooked tofu
    Chad W.

Well finally went to Crystal jade. Have been seeing this place for years. I wanted to love this place as they can do vegan dishes. I was not greeted with a hello or a smile. Just a blank stare like what do you want. I said table for 1 and host just turned and went back to what she was doing. I just stood there waiting. Pretty sad that she couldn't stop what she thought was so Important so take the one minute to seat me. I ordered orange tofu. I had heard it was good. Sadly my tofu was extremely over cooked. Like they fried it yesterday and then refried it today. Didn't get any kind of veggie with it either. Most places serve broccoli with orange chicken. The sauce was overly sweet as well. Sadly not a great experience today there.

Being a cold day, we decided to order delivery from a new-to-us place, Crystal Jade. The menu is diverse and includes gluten-free, vegetarian, Vietnamese, Thai, Malaysian, Indian and Korean foods as well as traditional Chinese. I ordered vegan egg roll and crab Rangoon. Bookguy chose 7 Flavored chicken with fried rice. The chicken was cooked with lemongrass, peanuts, turmeric, hoisin sauce, chili, garlic and ginger. He thought it was okay, but probably wouldn't get it again because there was a sweet taste that didn't appeal. The fried rice was pretty standard. I liked the egg roll, but it was really greasy. It should have come with a side of my choice of steamed or fried rice, but it didn't so I had some of Bookguy's rice. I liked the crab Rangoon-- crispy outside and full of creamy goodness inside. It was an order of four, so Bookguy had one, which he thought was very good. There are a plethora of good Asian restaurants around and in the area of 72 and Cedar, this one is worth trying.

I think this used to be a village inn. The decor is not faux Chinese. As other people have mentioned, the service is not super friendly, but the food is excellent standard Americanized, Chinese selections

I usually drive by this restaurant daily and had never stopped in. Finally, today was the opportunity. I didn't expect a large crowd and there were plenty of parking spots out front. We were seated quickly and the menu was an mixture of different Asian cuisine. I ordered the dumplings and the spicy pork bulgogi dish. The dishes came out very fast. The not so good news was the amount of filler materials such as shredded carrots, celery, and onions took away from the dish. Overall, an average experience here, wondering if there are dishes that would be winners here?

Delivery to the old market! It was still hot and delicious by the time I got it. Love the option of noodles instead of rice

This place is a hidden gem. Excellent food, beer is cheap and the employees are very friendly. Try the Beef Chow Fun!

Wave Bistro has been around for quite some time, and it feels a little bit dated in the decor, but…read morethe food is pretty good and the service is excellent. My husband and I have eaten there a few times, and everyone we've interacted with was pleasant, including the woman we chatted with last time we were there who I assume was the owner. She took great pride in the establishment and art that was featured inside. The dated decor I mentioned is the dim lightning, white tablecloths, and the 70s looking bar in the corner. Now aside from the Goodfellas vibes, the food was also a tiny bit "vintage" feeling but still tasty. We have had a few starters, like the house Garden Salad which was a sight to behold. Little cherry tomatoes resting atop sliced cucumbers around a big lump of salad and their honey carrot dressing. Taste was great, but the food art was a little over the top. We've also also grabbed the Firecracker Shrimp, which are pretty good - little fried shrimp in a fried wonton wrapper, and set atop a plate of the firecracker spiced ginger sauce (a LOT of the sauce). Entree-wise, my husband and I have had the Cashew Crusted Salmon and the Teriyaki Chicken. Both were cooked well and had great sauces with them, but again - both had pretty "dated" plating styles when we've ordered these. We were at Wave Bistro for a special occasion last time we went, so we did also share two desserts. The Tiramisu and Chocolate Cream Cake were both decadent and something to come back for. Very sweet, though, with lots of chocolate and sauces, so these have to be a once in a while treat. I know I keep harping on the dated style of the food and interior, but the food tastes have always been great, so I can look past these types of things for the love of the food. Overall, I would say Wave Bistro is a nice, sort of old-school style eatery that would be good every once in a while for the great service and hearty food.

Their Wonton Soup with chicken, shrimp and veggies is always the best in town!…read more I wanted to try something different so I ordered the spiced seafood dynamite letting the waiter know I had a dairy and butter intolerance. He assured me this meal would be OK for me to eat. When I was served, it looked creamy, but he said it was egg whites with olive oil making up the Aioli sauce, so I dug in! It certainly was tasty, but half way thru I felt uncertain about the ingredients. It was not a good experience once I got home. I knew it did not agree with my stomach. Such a shame. They do have some of my favorite meals here so I will go back and stick with what I know!!
