I've been coming here for many years. This place does really good quality work. I always get a gel pedicure. I ask them to cut my nails really short because I like to stretch it out as long as possible. They charge $48 for gel pedicure and I tip them $12 so $60 all together. They last roughly 5-6 weeks. This was actually the worst experience I've ever had a nail salon. I called and booked an appointment for 11:30 for gel and the woman helping me started around 11:30. She rushed through the pedicure SO quickly because she had someone waiting for her, that everything was done by 11:45. I asked for an additional 10 minutes for a leg massage, and which she also couldn't accommodate and rushed through that too. Never in my life have I had ever a pedicure start and finish within 15 minutes. I was referred by a friend. I live a bit far and had to leave earlier to beat traffic. Mind you I am going here by choice. And to my surprise, Ana was speaking in Vietnamese about me, all the nail techs were just mean shaking their head because I arrived early to my appt. Giving me a bad look speaking in their language. Very strange. If you visit here turn on your phone translator to hear the things they speak of you. It is time we stand up for our rights of service and the tip they ask for and speak up when nail salons are not customer service friendly. It is not okay to speak about the client if they arrive earlier than their appt. Be kind and say it's okay. Learn to speak English and value peoples time CT Nails. How unfortunate your behavior. This place speaks of their customers in their language making one feel absolutely bad. Sharing my experience. And they ask for Zelle for tip. This way they don't report it to the IRS. Don't get your nails done here, my pedicure was good but my manicure was terrible this lady took almost 3 hours to do gel x and kept ripping off the new nails and replacing it, purposely tour me I think, used her nail tool and razered off a ton of my skin. This is probably the only review from gentlemen but Ct Nails #9, Anna & David we gotta talk! This place was a gem for years recently they remodeled and place finally have function able clean restroom. I would often come for a pedicure and callous remover regularly for years I think Anna is amazing "cutter" if there such term. For the last time I was there I would be there always on time but Anna would ever get to me 15-20 min late I do respect other ppl time but unfortunately no one respect mine. After last callus removed I got terrible itching chemical burn that lasted for months not to mention the wart that I cut which I suspect was from unclean implements. Today I decided to gave this place another chance even skipped chemical callus remover but...as Anna again cut me to bleed I ask for a band aid on what she said she don't have any? Really? Instead she put unknown blue liquid on it and said it would stop bleeding? I'm sorry this is not a way to treat a client! Really terrible services. Did a simple mani pedi 1 day ago and the colors are already chipped off and the top coat that they put dried up in a very strange way and it is really ugly. I live down the block from this location and wanted to make sure I fully accessed this place before leaving this review. Don't come here if you're Black. They prioritize white customers and will leave you sitting waiting or find an excuse to turn you away if they're busy but will take in white customers. Again, I took my time before writing this because I wanted to determine if that was the case. But after months of this happening to me, the last time I got my nails done here I happened to come early in the morning so they had no excuse to turn me away. My nail chipped a few days later so I came back to get it fixed, they asked me to wait a few minutes. But I watched them take in 4 white customers with full sets before i finally spoke up and said something. (The white customers were also walk-ins and did not have appointments.) This confirmed it for me. They didn't care about how long I was waiting. I honestly think they forgot I was there. There's another nail salon on the same block (CT Nails 3) that I see accommodates everyone who walks in. I'm only giving this location 2 stars because they at least did my nails the last time. But I'm done with them and they can kiss my Black ass. And to any white woman who ever sees a Black person addressing being treated differently the last thing you should ever do is tell them to "relax." read more

I thought I found my new nail place when I moved to West Hollywood a year ago. I had been a patron to CT Nails #9, now renamed Star Nails, for 8 months. I am a 2-3 week new mani/pedi girl, so I have been very often. I am not going back. Yes, I had been pleased, yes i have posted photos of my great looking nails. But that was the past. Currently, I cannot stand behind this business. David does not run this business in an intelligent manner, he does not treat his employees well, and in turn, the customers are not satisfied. Forget health code, most places nowadays open new tools - Star Nails does not. Things do not look nor feel sanitary. There are holes in the ceiling. Towels have blood stains on them. Tools and foot basins are crusty. The employees are SO unhappy. There is no efficiency nor time management. Making appointments are pointless, because you still end up waiting - a long time, and then wait more. 5-10 mins I understand, 30 mins wait when I've made an appointment is unacceptable. The policy is if I made an appointment, waited, then someone walks in with a correction from a recent visit, the manicurist I made an appointment with stops working on me to attend to them - and I wait another 20 mins on top of the 30 I already waited. David is so arrogant and prideful that he MUST be the ONLY person to do airbrushing. This adds to the inefficiency and customer wait time because he refuses to train other staff to airbrush. Thus the customers stack up, because only one person is doing the work, while 5 other technicians sit and do nothing. 5 customers sit and do nothing. Star Nails can up their total base revenue, help employees earn more tips and boost their morale, get more customers in and out, raise customer satisfaction - and all he has to do to achieve this is train his staff. They are certainly willing to learn. But he must have total control, and the ego boost. What a terrible way to run a business. read more

I guess it's called a Star Nails now? Hmmm, all the times I went it was CT Nails #(something...too damn many of them!). The nail art was very cute. Nail care was terrible. I would only say go here if you like airbrush designs and nothing else. But if you're looking for cuticle care, sanitary tools, or a decent hand massage with your manicure, skip it. Most times I would cut and file my nails myself to be sure it was even and the shape I wanted. I'll give him this, David is talented. He knows it too - ask him he'll tell you! But unless you get gel polish or apparently acrylic nails, your design won't last. Sometimes mine would start to fade 2 days later. I was finding I needed to add a layer of my own Orly top coat the very next day as a preventative measure in order for my look to last 5 days. Why am I paying money for that?! I don't know that I'll be back. I won't totally bash them, but if you're looking for nail art, there are other salons that do a better job of combining artistry with sanitation and care. read more

I have been getting gel manicures every two weeks for several years. Never had a problem. I've been to this location of CT Nails (it's not really Star Nails, it's part of the CT Nails mini-chain) before and wasn't overly impressed but was in a rush so stopped in one last time. And it was absolutely the LAST time. I developed an infection underneath the nails - on almost every finger. Unreal. Avoid. Clearly there are some serious cleanliness issues here. You must not go here. Trust me... a nail fungus/infection is nothing to mess around with. My nails are an absolute mess. read more

This is the ONLY place to come if you want specialty nails. i used to come here every 2 weeks back in around 2000 and try to stump Peter with airbrush designs...he never failed me. (i got him yesterday when i asked for a wizard though...) I used to get skulls over jailbird stripes, spiderwebs with blackcats, underwater bubbles, 50s/60s atomic starbursts, suits of cards when i went to vegas, etc....this place is AWESOME. i hadn't been back in about 5-6 years because i stopped getting fake nails but when i walked in yesterday, they remembered my name!!!! woah!! he even remembered the designs i used to get ("you want skull today, my friend??")... besides all that, the actual acrylics they put on me look and feel like my own nails...seriously they do the most amazing job in town. i think i'll be going on a CT binge again :) read more

So after hunting allllll dayyy longggg for a the best acrylic nail shop in LA. I stumbled across reviews for CT Nails #3. When reading the reviews I noticed that everyone kept mentioning this guy named David and I noticed that they were saying he's moved to another location down the street from CT #3. I keep reading and notice that one of my fellow Yelperss was gracious enough to put David's new number & New Addy on his review! So I search some more to keep my options open but something keeps telling me to call David, so I did! When one of the ladies picked up the phone, I asked her a question and she passed the phone to him....He was automatically super cool! He told me to come down and he'd hook me up! .and that's exactly what he did. My nails are short bc i've been biting them again so I def needed acrylics bc im going to Miami for Memorial day... He did the best acrylic job I've ever had! They are super strong and clean looking. I loveee them! Not only is he the bomb at acrylics but he is a Master at airbrushing. Its like Art! I was so surprised my nails came out this good. I've never had anything close to this. David is a genius! Fann did my pedicure and she's so sweet. All of the ladies there are. Saw on Yelp that David was THE man to go to for some sick nail art. Believe the hype! He's that good. Because his hours on here say that he's only open until 8:00 pm, I called at about 6:30 to make sure that an appointment at 7:00 was early enough to get a fill and airbrush design. I was assured that as long as David knew I was coming, he'd stay open and wouldn't turn me down if my design would take a while. Nice. As soon as I arrived, David got right to work filling my acrylics. He's a pro. The filling and shaping couldn't have taken more than five minutes, and it looked so good that another girl in the shop asked me if they were natural. When it came to designs, I had a pretty specific idea in mind. Unfortunately, I didn't have too much money to spend, but David worked with me on pricing to make sure that we were both happy. I'm over the moon with my nails! I got a black base with different white designs on each nail. My stencils are perfect, and David even added two topcoats so they'd last longer. After being pulled, pricked, and prodded by the chicks at Happy Nails a few years back, I'm so happy to have found a really good, inexpensive nail place near my house! After finishing all of my Christmas wrapping early, I decided to reward myself to a manicure. I wanted to do something fun and holiday but still keep it classy. (Can't give nana too much of a shock on Christmas Day.) After reading she of the reviews I decided to give this place a try. It is so awesome!! By far the best prices around for the quality of work. I am so happy with the outcome. David did a cute red polish and airbrushed snowmen and snowflakes on top. I'm getting compliments everywhere I go. Everyone in that place was super nice- I didn't feel once like they were talking any asian smack on me or my cuticles. While it's not the spa at the Bellagio it is a cute, clean little place with a really positive and friendly vibe. Plus free parking in the back... Holla!! Finally found my favorite local nail salon! I found the place last minute on Saturday through yelp. Even though I live in the area I have never noticed the store before so I was surprised. They were busy and I had to wait about 15-20min. but the owner (I believe that's David?) made me feel better by letting me know that they were almost ready for me. (Not just sitting there feeling like being forgotten) When I sat down to get a spa pedicure (which is super cheap for only $15) David came over and showed me how to use the massage chair. He was soooo nice! The lady who did my toe nails where super sweet too and did a great job :D Overall, I had a very good experience coming here despite the waiting and not having enough cash (I usually always pay with my cards for almost anything. Love my nails! First time coming here!...I found this place through yelp so I called to make sure David would be in so I could get my hello kitty airbrush and he told me to come around x time. Place was super busy for a Thursday afternoon. Lots of annoying spoiled brats here. I had to wait a while for my airbrush and you can tell a lot of regulars come here but a lot of walk ins which mainly come for the airbrush and David is the only one that does the airbrush. I had to wait a while for the airbrush and was sitting in the waiting area and then a bunch of annoying high school girls were hovering over David as he was airbrushing and I was like what the hell, there's no way in hell they're going to cut infront of me when i was here first and had been waiting a while. I didn't know you had to be right next to him in order to be airbrushed. So i went up to David and asked him when I would be next and he was really nice and cool and said I would be next. This girl who he had finished airbrushing before me told him that now she wanted her toes done and he told her I was next and she got all mad and wouldn't move out of the chair but I got airbrushed next (there would have been a problem had the spoiled brats would have been airbrushed before me) Anyways, David is really fast with the airbrushing but does a good job. He's really cool and super nice. Price was VERY reasonable-$19 for my set. I will be back for more airbrushing! David answered the phone enthusiastically and said it'd be no problem. Easy parking in the back of the building. David was actually waiting outside when we arrived. David took my acrylics off without any pain and he didn't even soak them! He was so sweet always checking to make sure it didn't hurt. It was a bad experience today.... first of all there was a miscommunication about the price. I was told over the phone that watermelon nails would cost me $15. When I got there, they told me that it was 15+12 for manicure and watermelon design.... they should have been more clear. The manicure wasn't up to standards either. She accidentally hurt my thumb while she was cutting my cuticles and there was no sorry. I felt uncomfortable as if she didn't want to be doing my nails. I asked if they accepted card and she said yes. But later when I went to pay, the man who did my design said they have to charge $2 for paying with card. The manicurist didn't mention anything about that when I had asked earlier. The man who did my watermelon airbrush design was kind but I wasn't happy with how the design came out. I've gotten this design before several times by his brother David and I never had a problem. The green part of the watermelon design was metallic this time. I pointed it out and he said it's always that color. I didn't say anything after that but I knew that all the previous times I got it, it wasn't metallic and instead just straight matte green. Even my boyfriend noticed that it was different than before. After he was done with the design, the clean up was AWFUL... I tried to pick off a lot of the left over polish, but there's still a lot left. The work was never this sloppy. They also didn't put lotion on my hands as normal manicures do. After hearing recommendations from some fancy New York socialites, I was surprised that all of the CT Nails are such holes-in-the-walls, not any different from your average Asian, strip-mall nail joint. But you don't come here for the ambiance, evidently. You come for the nail art! The mani-pedi here is just so-so, although super cheap. I think my total bill for everything was under $40. In the future though, I would probably elect to have a basic manicure done with clear polish elsewhere and then just come here for David's airbrushing genius. Anyway, for nail art virgins, you pick a design from several posterboards with fake nails stuck to them and then David recreates it on your fingers. (Be warned though, most of them are pretty ghetto-fabulous, although you can request some customizations, in case pink leopard print isn't your thing!) Not everyone speaks great English here, so it wasn't clear to me if they can do freestyle nail art, or are David's skills only limited to his selection of stencils? I'd really love a horse design, but they don't have anything like that. I guess I'll have to investigate on my next visit. read more
