This place does get busy on the weekends and if does get hot inside when it's got outside and the food warmers are going behind the glass but the food is so good its worth the sacrifice. Parking here can be a little challenging because the parking in the front is first to be taken then you have to cross a busy shopping center parking lot. This place is a hidden gem. Stopped in after reading reviews on yelp. They give you an enormous amount of food that is absolutely delicious! Meals are served in styrofoam which I don't like as it is SO bad for the environment, I'm sure they use it because it's cheap compared to cardboard. We are Thrilled to have a place like this in Aurora. I didn't have to drive to Denver for great quality authentic Cuban food. For those who love guava, I highly recommend the guava pastries. The friendly servers always take time to explain and show what each dish is. Sandwiches are made fresh on crusty bread. I walked in hoping to have some delicious Cuban food but it was cold and lacked all the flavor. They have the food out in some dollar scoop format. Maybe the food was sitting out since the morning. Oh JEEZ! What a tucked away gem! There is no way to spot this place from the road but once you step inside, this is such a cool place! First off, I love the pics/photos on the wall. I love the swag and memorabilia too. The ladies handling the front are just terrific - nice, kind, helpful. First thing you want to do is peruse the display cases - oh the treats you'll see! Take a number and step up to the counter to order from the main menu. Just deciding on the main dish and sides can be a practice in indecisiveness as everything looks good. My wife and I were in Aurora, which we love given the amazing diversity, and we found this place. Having been to Cuba and also having lived in Miami for a few years, I am always skeptical about authenticity, but this place is legit and authentic! The food was incredible. We had the Havana sandwich, and besides being huge (you only need one for two people) it was full of flavor and just amazing. We also ordered some of the pastries. All were super fresh and delicious. If it there was a visible expiration date on this cake it would read "7 days ago". The cake was hard and crumbled when touched, besides icing shouldn't crack. Inedible. From the Paper Menu, that they had, the Bulk of their Sales perhaps are from Catering Events or Big Purchases such as Parties what nots. Party Specials are from $39.95 to $149.95 which can feed from 25 to 100 guests, respectively. Included in the Paper Menu were items such as Pastries Or Desserts which starts from $1.25 each, Breakfast Items ($4.99), Sandwiches ($6.95-$7.95), and Daily Dishes ($7.95). There are like about 10 seats with tables inside in case you might want to have your Meals here at one go. Recent visit was on Saturday January 18th 2014. Time was about 16:50hrs ish. Actually we wanted to have an Early Dinner there, but since they were quite swamped with the "Early" Dinner crowd, I decide to have some Savory Pies to go. From the Savory case, we opt to have the following items : 2 Chicken Empanadas, 2 Beef Empanadas and 4 Beef Pastries which cost about $18 ish with tax My bad, forgetting to ask the lovely staff at which Fahrenheit and for how long to re-bake the Savory Empanadas. When we get the chance to eat our purchase, All in all its was ok. We prefer the BEEF Empanadas the best, though we cannot deny the filling could be more, since the Empanadas looks big, but it was more Dough than the Filling. But with the reasonable cost, we can understand why. The spices and the flavoring in the Ground Beef Empanadas was just right for our liking. Both Empanadas, comes with Red and Green Bell Peppers. We decide to cut them into halves and having it that way, so we can at least taste whether there would be any differences in each Empanadas what nots. Yes the Empanadas Dough was crispy and crunchy. LEAST favorite Empanadas was the Chicken Empanadas. It was NOT as flavorful as we were hoping for. Perhaps due to the seasoning which was a little too bland for our taste bud. As for the Beef Pastries, unfortunately, perhaps I bake it at a higher temperature that resulted in "burnt" Phyllo Crust. From that bite, I can understand why, coz they might have "washed" the top of the Phyllo Dough with Diluted Sugar water coz the Phyllo Dough tasted a bit on a sweet side. In the Beef Pastries, it was also Ground Beef, just without the Bell Peppers. It tasted slightly similar with the Beef Empanadas, but NOT the quite the same. Still intrigue with all these Savory Empanadas/Pastries. Nevertheless, we wish them well in their Business Undertakings, and hope they can prosper well in this Neighborhood and many more years to come so everyone can enjoy what they have to offer especially the lack of Quality Cuban Cuisine, in Colorado Soil. You can tell that who ever is making the food in the back is making it with love. When you walk in it legitimately feels like you just stepped into Miami. The yellow rice was done well, and the flavors were truly different ftom what I expected, but the food was gorgeous. The chicken was cooked perfectly, but the kicker was the portion size. I took home half of my meal, and the leftovers were great. I tried the gigantic sandwich from the plate of my dining companion. The bread was more pastry than bread, and the meat was also fantastic. Re Covid: staff wears masks. There is no enforcement of social distancing for people in line or sitting at the tables inside. You will be well within arm's length of multiple people when this place is busy. There is also no mask enforcement for the customers. The staff was friendly and attentive (hence the two stars). Fabulous food and pastries! The Hubs always does one of the sandwiches (that take about 10-15 min to make - like The Cuban), while I go for the prepared food in the steamers. Now, if you're someone who normally says 'no' to food in steamers (like me, usually), please reconsider. The majority of what they have hot and ready to go is fabulous and benefits from a little time (like stew, soup, and chili all do). It never fails. The restaurants closest to me seem to be the ones I take forever to review. Case in point - a little "rincon" at Mississippi and Chambers called Cuba Bakery & Cafe, which I'm betting you'll enjoy just as much as I do. As the name may well have given away, a large segment of CB&C's product line consists of bread and pastry items which are not only very popular on the titular island but also with Cuban communities in places like Florida and Spain (for example). Unctuous puff pastries called Pastelitos may, depending on when you visit, be filled with guava and cream cheese, coconut, or even papaya, while hearty tubes of deep-fried Yuca (cassava) or potato play host to stuffings of beef and chicken respectively. Changing the subject just a bit, the Medianoche or "midnight" sandwich is so named because of its popularity after a bit of nightclubbing, and its amalgamation of ham, pork, Swiss cheese and pickles will be a hit even if you haven't spent all night shaking your booty. Or, as a way to combine a couple ideas from this paragraph, why not try the sandwich called Croqueta Preparada, stuffed with rich, gooey ham and cheese croquettes? But CB&C is not just a place for scintillating sandwiches and plentiful pastries - perish the thought! Their larger plates are just as pleasing. Although Ropa Vieja colloquially means "old rags" in Cuban Spanish, don't be alarmed!
