Believe the hype. Cuba Bakery & Cafe is an absolute gem that I am fortunate to live close to in the new hood. Authentic Cuban hot food and pastries (both savory and sweet), and TONS OF IT. I initially came in for a Cuban sandwich, but the line of folks waiting to be served their got me thinking twice. They have different entrees available each day plus 2-3 different types of rice. You pick your meat, your rice and side (always plantains for me) and you have yourself a GENEROUS meal. AND SO GOOD! The flavors are on point and you can tell this is absolutely a homecooked family recipe. I've been to Cuba Bakery a couple of times now and I have not been disappointed. Their empanadas are delicious, the potato or yucca rolls (I think that's what it's called) are my fave. I cannot say enough great things about this place. First time visiting in several years. I recently joined a Facebook group that provides recommendations for local restaurants and Cuba Bakery & Cafe popped up. The picture of the Cuban sandwich in the recommendation looked really good so I decided to stop by. It's about the same as I remember: a very bare bones dining area, not the cleanest but nothing horrifying. An overhead menu with excellent price points (if you're hosting a summer party, you might want to look into this place for cheap catering options!), a large bakery case full of yummy looking pastries, and some good looking stuff simmering in the hot pans. The Cuban was very good and as other reviewed have mentioned - HUGE. I ate half for lunch and half for dinner. The dining experience was a bit uncomfortable for me, though - I wish I'd chosen take out. They had very loud reggaetón music playing on a TV, some tables were clean and some weren't, some tables had napkins and some didn't. It was also quite hot and stuffy in there. So my advise is come grab so good food and maybe find a nice park bench to eat it. read more

If you're craving a Cubano, this is your place! Be warned it is a huge sandwich and so good!! We also tried the empanadas, chicken, chorizo, and ground beef. All were pretty tasty. My son tried a pastry that had filling like the Cubano and enjoyed that. The guava & cheese pastry was good too but lacked enough filling. The desserts were a let down for us though. We tried the vanilla flan & creme brûlée. The creme brûlée was heavy, very heavy and no caramelization on top. The flan was airy but not creamy at all and had a strange aftertaste. This is a hidden gym. You don't start from a small space and expand in the same place without doing something good!! I have seen this place grow and you know what? The taste of the food has not changed! The bakery is absolutely amazing. My fav hands down is the cafe con leche. Goodness!!!! So damn good!!!! This has to be one of my favorite spots! Every single dish is so well made. I've come a few times and not once have they disappointed. The Cubano sandwich is a classic, very filling and best of all so delicious. They offer an array of hot foods & sides that are also to die for! They have daily specials that I 100% recommend that everyone tries. On Sundays they have an oxtail dish that is so unique and packed with flavors. It's really getting hard to choose what to order with so many great options lol Ooo & I cannot forget, they also have a bakery section where you can get your favorite Cuban sweets but also those famous potato balls and empanadas. Lack of service and safety measures during covid earns 3 stars. First impression when I walked in, overwhelmed with the bakery selection and menu. All tables were open, no hand sanitizers in sight. The menu on the wall was too much with small fonts, could barely read it. Then there were cash registers to the left, but it appeared they wanted us to get in line on the right? There wasn't a line when we entered and no one greeted us. I approached the counter, said "hello" and asked if the lady behind the food counter would help us. She took our order, but seemed rush. I ordered 2 sandwiches - Havana and steak and a few sweet bakery... about a minute later, I realized I did not want the "Havana," I wanted the "Cuban" sandwich and asked her to change it. Then she goes in the kitchen, comes back, and said it was too late to change it... (thinking in my head) she was still taking my order on paper, how did she already put the sandwich orders through to the kitchen? I didn't want to make it difficult so I told her that's fine, and added the Cuban sandwich! She also ended up giving me more bakery items then I asked for, but I was nice, paid for them plus tip! Overall, was not impressed. The 3 stars are for the gigantic sandwich sizes! The Cuban sandwich was good but the rest including the sweet bakeries were mediocre. SO good. We were on a road trip and stopped in for Cuban coffees and a Cubano sandwich. However, when we got there, the daily specials looked and smelled amazing, so we went with them instead of the sandwich - oxtail and masitas (fried pork). We got one with black rice and one with yellow rice, along with plantains, a guava & cheese pastry, a ham & cheese empanada and a Tuxedo bomb (kiddo inhaled it). Pastry and baked goods have taken a serious nose-dive in quality recently. The quesitos were so bad that we have to guess the business has been sold and the original recipes are gone. Either that or they have started to cut every corner to save money. Very disappointing considering how much my entire family used to love going here to pick up pastries for every family get-together. Unfortunately this isn't PR where we can just hit up the next panaderia - we will just have to do without or make our own. read more

I had this restaurant on my radar for quite some time and wow.. they have some of the best cuban food I've ever had. The variety of traditional Cuban dishes, sandwiches, pastries, and cakes is astonishing.. the best part is everything looks delicious and I'm sure tastes just as good as it looks. The service was fast, the prices were extremely low and the portion sizes are huge! I ordered the pork rib plate which came with 3 huge ribs, a bunch of rice and plantains. The real deal. It's as if you step inside a Havana cafe. Most of the food is served cafeteria style and others are made to order in the kitchen such as the HUGE sandwiches. The pastries are good but pricey. I look forward to going again. read more

UPDATE: Earlier in the week, I received a call from the manager with an apology and solution for my issue. Although it did take much longer to resolve than I would have liked, I am glad to say there has been a resolution. I was issued my refund. The manager was very friendly, understanding and apologetic and invited me to give them another try, because of her attitude and willingness to help I can say that I will try again. ORIGINAL REVIEW: My first visit to the cafe was good. Although the service was a bit slow, the food was great and the staff was friendly. I decided to give them another try and order ahead to avoid the wait. I placed my order online and shortly thereafter received a text stating that they did not have the items I ordered and asked if I wanted something else. I replied and asked them to cancel my order. I didn't get a response but my card was still charged. I tried texting them again and emailing because I couldn't get ahold of anyone by phone. After a couple of days with no response, I called and finally talked to someone. Unfortunately she could not help me so she said she'd have a manager call me back. That was days ago and I still have not heard back from anyone. It's been over a week since I've been trying to resolve this. They took my money but have not done anything to rectify the situation. They have all the pastries you could imagine (besides chicken croquetas which are my favorite!), Cuban fresh made breads, daily lunch/dinners or meats with rice, beans, and yucca/plantains, and best of all ... good. I have been here many times over the years. When I first started coming here ii would only come bd or their desserts and pastries. They were so yummy and they had a huge selection. Cuba Bakery has changed a bit since then. The pastry selection has decreased a bit, however there are still many choices for dessert. It seems like they are now focusing more on cafe part of the restaurant. They do not disappoint in that area. Being from Miami,Fla. I know good Cuban food. In on a Tuesday at 12:30 to eat in. Pretty busy. Very slow service cafeteria style. Only 1 person filling orders and working the register. Ordered: Roast Pork, white rice, black beans and plantains $ 12.95. The pork was soooo dry it was almost inedible. Also, EVERYTHING WAS BASICALLY COLD. Took most of it home to warm up later. I want to come back to this place in a few months and give them the benefit of the doubt that I came in on a really rough day. Why do I say this? I moved here from New York. I am a native born Dominican and I cook at home 90% of the time. However my friends were telling me about this Cuban spot that I just have to try because it's got all my Home favorites and I was in a rush and didn't feel like cooking that day so I tried the place. I was so sad that I went to order Yuca; one of my favorite roots. If you don't know what it is, think of a potato cousin but it's more bland, anyway you need to try it to understand but it's a delicacy in our cultures or if you are familiar with the Caribbean. They had most of the treats I was looking for like Cuban bread and some foods, but it seems most things were dried up in the pans or had been sitting there for a couple of days. No thank you. I need to walk in, and I need to hear music and smell fresh food, or at least look at fresh food that looks like it was just cooked and looks like it's inviting me to eat it! I need to walk into this place and feel like OK there's a big Momma or big Poppa in the kitchen handling & holding it down! I need to see that the place is wiped down and smells clean because every Cuban home or Puerto Rican or Dominican home that I have ever walked into prides them self in being so fresh and clean, smelling like fresh soapy floors and walls and glasses... and having the best hot made food ready for you to close your eyes and enjoy to your hearts delight. The portions are huge so most people will have left overs( financially conscious over here ‍) They have most of the popular desserts( flan, guava & cheese pastries, napoleons...) Their cubano is very good, you get the toasty and flaky bread( a must for me) the melty cheese, juicy pork, ham and the tangy pickle and mustard combination. They have bustelo coffee as well. This was our first time eating cuban food and we were very impressed. This was also our favorite dining experience when we visited Denver.

I don't even live close to this place but it's always been worth the drive. Sandwiches are under $10 and you can order entrees from their buffet of choices. They get pretty busy during lunch so they could have a line. We called ahead to get our sandwich ordered on the way but it took a while to get ahold of them since this place gets busy. Had a mixed experience. The meal was ok, with generous portions and affordable prices ($14 for two portion sized). However, the desserts (flan and quatro leches) priced at $4 for a small portion, didn't meet expectations in terms of taste and value. Both were very bland and instead of using a good Dulche de Leche, they tasted more like store bought caramel. Absence of complimentary tap water was a minor inconvenience, had to purchase a $2 bottle. Nothing special, but it's still worth considering for a quick and filling meal that is similar to those found on any latin marketplaces. The service was satisfactory, but nothing particularly exceptional. I felt a bit rushed during my visit, and the staff didn't seem very interested in explaining the menu options in detail. It's worth noting that some of the employees speak english. Ambiance is your generic latin lunch restaurant vibe. Simple, clean and with lots of parking spaces nearby. read more

This bakery is a hidden gem in the shopping center on the corner of Chambers and Mississippi where King Soopers is! We have been exploring more of the neighborhood we live in. We typically venture to Havana or Denver for some good eats but discovering so many places walking distance to the house. Every friend has told me to come here & that I WOULD LOVE IT! Of course they were spot on! IM HOOKED! It's around the corner from the house and I may be in too often for the coradito, baked goodies, cookies, cakes, flans, croquettes, special plates and empanadas. We came in on a Sunday around noon. It was busy but only waited 2 minutes to order and 5-10 minutes to get our baked goodies and a Cuban sandwich. $30 for amazing quality and a delicious meal! We ordered a Cuban sandwich to share which was under $10 plus about 7 pastries for $20 (3 empanadas that are larger than my hand, 2 cheese and ham croquettes, 1 Guava Con queso, 1 potato & beef) We will be back for sure! I want to order from their party platters for catering! Amazing deals and I know my friends and family would enjoy every bite! This place attracts a diverse crowd of hungry people. It's usually steady with a crowd of Buckley service people eating lunch. I can't ever get past the empanada case to try much else because they are that good. The staff is knowledgeable, the setup is clean & there's a million desserts to choose from.
