Me and The Hubs visited Masha and the Bear about a month ago for lunch. It was a chilly, drizzly day and some comfort food sounded good. This restaurant is tiny - like five tables tiny. Fortunately when we arrived, only two of them were occupied (I did notice that quite a few people came in to pick up takeout orders while we were there, tho). Anyway after perusing the menu we decided on the following: - A cup of Solyanka (soup) - Beef, turkey, sausage, cabbage, olives, carrots, pickles - A cup of Borscht (soup) - red beets, grass fed beef, onions, carrots, potatoes, served with the spoon of sour cream and fresh herbs - Hinkali - 5 large Georgian style meat dumplings. Served with our special spicy tomato sauce - Cabbage Meat Roll (Golubtsi) - a cabbage roll dish consisting of cooked cabbage leaves wrapped around meat fillings seasoned with garlic, onion, and spices. Served with sour cream. - Honey Cake - Layered cake with light touch of honey and pastry cream between layers. OK. This was a TON of food and each dish (except the cake) came with sour cream. Both cups of soup were incredibly filling (glad we didn't order bowls, but a bowl would be a nice lunch by itself maybe with some bread). Everything was delicious and portions were large. We ended up bringing most of the dumplings home since we were so full (they reheated pretty well the next day). The Solyanka was a real surprise. I'd never had a soup with olives and pickles in it before. It was really yummy! Our server was nice and very polite, and the restaurant is very cute and clean. Today we visited this restaurant and were very impressed From the very beginning, we appreciated the polite and attentive staff. The waitress was very friendly and told us that the restaurant has been operating for over eight years that's always a good sign. The food was excellent. We tried the vinaigrette salad, manty, and potato dumplings everything was very tasty, fresh, and clearly made with care. We also tried their homemade fruit compote, which was especially enjoyable. The service was fast, the atmosphere was pleasant, and we left with very positive impressions. We highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys European cuisine read more

What to expect when you're in search of Eastern European food and you pull into an Aurora strip mall?! It's either going to be delicious and authentic or total crap... Masha and the Bear is fantastic. Homey, tasty, legit and worth a drive. Salads were well seasoned, soup warm and yummy, chicken moist, and desserts perfect. Oh, they serve Turkish coffee with actual grinds at the bottom. Loved it. Will be back. Shh, don't tell anyone. read more

Order at the table, pay at the register. What happens in between is the magic. Complimentary bottled water eliminates any question about water in a glass. Warm dinner rolls and buns on the house. We shared and enjoyed the Pelmeni. Would go again if in the area. read more

This place serves Russian dishes and other regional dishes near Russia. They also had some Ukrainian and Georgian items on the menu as far as I could tell. It's a very quaint little place and it has good food and service. I like the free bread that comes with your meal. I ordered some dumplings and honey cake. We made reservations since many friends said this place got busy. The night we went there was only two other parties seated and already eating. The person working behind the counter was also our waitress. She was kind and accommodating. Jazzy music floated through the air while we browsed the menu. We opted in for a Greek salad but they ended up bringing a summer salad. No biggy. It was still delicious. I ordered the Hinkali which was a meat filled dumpling. On first bite it reminded me of Xiaolongbao (小籠包) for all you dim sum aficionados. A bit on the pricey side but I could definitely tell it was homemade. Stopped in on 12/12/24 for a quick lunch while at work. I was craving something light and fresh but wanted to stick to local and close to work. I found Masha's on yelp of course and it looked perfect. I can tell you I made the correct choice. The service was so welcoming, the food hit exactly all the right spots I needed it to. I left full but not heavy and just incredibly pleased with the whole experience. I was given a bottle of water and some warm bread and butter when seated as well. I saw so many delicious looking dishes I want to go back and try! This time around I ordered a spinach salad that had raspberries, goat cheese, pine nuts and a raspberry dressing on it and a cup of chicken noodle soup as well. read more

I can't believe I kept missing reviews for this wonderful place. Masha and the Bear offers hearty Eastern European meals. They have been around pre-covid. I'm so glad their business survived post-covid. When I lived in Aurora I dined here a number of times. I also stopped by not long ago for bakery to take home. Their peach cookie is delicious! Earlier tonight I stopped by because I was doing business in Aurora. Afterwards, I couldn't resist the temptation to stop here. I ordered a few meals to take home. One of those meals was the Olivier Salad and the other was Beef Stroganoff with mashed potatoes. Both delicious meals! That Olivier Salad is great! I loved the warm hospitality I received. My waitress was very friendly. She offered for me to sit down at one of their tables until my food was ready. It was great to hear a Slavic or Eastern European language spoken by patrons while I waited for my food. The interior of this place is so charming. I love all the art decor on the walls and other decorations. It provides you with stepping into a portal to another country. Again, love the staff. I've always had nice interactions with them. I stopped by and got takeout. This cafe is cute! It was busy around 5 with takeout orders but no one was eating in at that time. It's small (maybe five tables) but clearly efficient. There are a number of gluten free and vegetarian options, including several soups, salads and entrees. I did a big takeout order but the price was very reasonable and the portions very generous. Two entree sized salads and two entrees was $61 and we have several meals of leftovers. I'll definitely return. read more

I have never tried Borscht before, I'm not feeling well and I really wanted some. I came in about an hour before they closed, and they didn't have much left but went out of their way to be able to give me at least half a portion, all they had left. 10/10 absolutely delicious and the effort to serve my first borscht. We have borscht, potato fritters, meat fritters, and cabbage rolls. Everything is very good. Vegetarian Uses: They have some vegetarian uses. All of his dishes are traditionally vegetarian, with vegetarian versions of his meat dishes as an alternative. Weight loss: They have gluten- and dairy-free power. A dining experience that I have been waiting for for a while. My first Russian restaurant! This is literally the cutest place ever. I love the interior and all of the Russian nesting dolls. The purple wall and red chairs are everything and so much fun. I was especially entranced by the coke fountain. My cousin and I walked in and were greeted right away and were the first ones in the restaurant for lunch. The service was good and the food came out fast. The owner was so sweet and I could tell that she loves her job. The menu is authentic and there are lots of options that you don't get just anywhere. What restaurant do you know that makes cabbage rolls and borscht (beet soup)? My cousin has been here several times and said that everything is authentic and tastes great. She would know because she studied abroad in Russia for a semester. To start we were given bottled waters and complimentary sour dough. The bread was warm, soft and oh so good. For entrees, we ordered the cabbage meat rolls and pelmeni. I've never had a cabbage roll before and the taste was out of this world and unlike anything I have had before. Great portion size too. The pelmeni is a Russian version of a dumpling and you dip them in sour cream. Really good stuff. Lastly, we shared the honey cake which was a tasty dessert option that's not overly sweet and was only $3 for a big portion. By no means am I an expert on Russian food, so I am not one to ask about this being the best, authentic, etc. What I will say is eating here is getting really, really good and tasty food. This is really a quiet, little restaurant in a non-discript mini-mall intersection, but you can tell they are putting a care into what they make. Very cool little restaurant serving Ukrainian food - apps, salads, soups, entrees, and desserts. We ordered something from every category. Delicious beyond belief! We forgot to take photos because we were living in the glorious moment. My wife enjoyed the beet salad the most. My favorite was a meaty soup with lots of vegetables. This little cafe was a delicious surprise! Not much to look at and you might be tempted to leave - but don't! It's clean and the people were nice. Stay and enjoy the excellent, and I mean excellent stuffed cabbage - with its huge rolls filled with meat and topped with sauce. Classic Russian salads appealed to Americans in the group and hit all the right notes for our Russian foodie as well. The crab salad and plov with a hint of Sweetness were my favorites. The service was totally accommodating (dividing borchst into ramikins so everyone could sample it) and totally unobtrusive. This place is absolutely a must try if you are in the area! A very unique menu with a wonderful selection of dishes that are made from scratch. Presentation is very thought through, and I could tell that the owner put her heart and soul into this place. We tried solyanka (Russian soup), vareniki (potato dumplings), and peach cookies. We were pleasantly surprise how generous the portions were and how delicious everything was. True homemade meals!! The only cons is that I feel like they could utilize the space a bit better - I get an idea behind the story of Masha and the Bear, therefore they have huge square tables but three of the tables take the entire space (but can only sit 4 people maximum at each.) Everything we ordered was delicious! We ordered: - Borscht - Hinkali - Cabbage Meat Roll - Russian Style Crepes The Borscht was hearty with plenty of beets and beef in it. The beef was very tender. The Hinkali kind of reminded me of momos because of the spices, but with a different flavor profile and thicker dough. The Cabbage Meat Roll melted in my mouth! Paired with the tomato based sauce, it was such a comforting dish. Finally, my favorite of them all, the Russian Style Crepes. I'm not a huge sweets fan and I don't usually order dessert, but these were calling to me. They are filled with "cream cheese", but it doesn't taste like the typical cream cheese I'm used to. It has a bit of saltiness to it that pairs so well with the fresh fruit and strawberry jam. read more

Okay, don't come here if you're in a hurry as this appears to be a one woman operation so it takes a while for the food to come out. That being said, it is highly worth the wait. For our first foray, we ordered stuffed cabbage, lazy dumplings (which were, essentially, mini cheese blintzes topped with the most delicious berry compote I've ever tasted), smoked salmon cream cheese crepes, and fried cottage cheese. The complimentary bottled water and bread with sour cream was an unexpected nice touch. And oh my good, the prices are SO REASONABLE. My fiancé and I have been wanting to try this place for a long time and it didn't disappoint! A little hole in the wall, run by a couple. We've never had russian food before and definitely look forward to eating more of it and traveling to russia one day to try more of the cuisine. We started with the borscht soup first and it was delish! Definitely a great, hearty soup for a cold night filled with tender meat. We also ordered the pelmeni and tefteli with mashed potato for our entrees. They were both very good and unique dishes. Lastly, we got the honey cake to-go and it was to die for! Although I am no connoisseur of Russian cuisine, I have had Russian food in other cities, Masha and the Bear is way up there. Their food is fresh, do not just taste good but the plating is also appealing. The place is quaint, the young waitress is friendly and very helpful in explaining the menu. The price is quite reasonable and portion size is good. I have been there twice, first time I had Borscht and Cabbage Rolls; on my second visit I had Solyanka and Beef Stroganoff. The broth, the chopped veggies and the beef cubes in both soups, so fresh with just the right amount of seasoning. The soups came with sour cream and croutons. I can't really describe the taste but adding sour cream to the soup does wonder. The croutons add a crunch and provide a little texture contrast. An order of the Cabbage Roll came in two of about 6 inches long and plump with ground beef filling. I had Ukrainian and Polish Cabbage Rolls before, and they are usually topped with a tomato based sauce. This Russian ones were topped with a sour cream based sauce instead. I like both. The Beef Stroganoff we get in North America usually has beef and mushroom served on top of noodles or rice. The Beef Stroganoff from Masha and the Bear was a big pile of pan fried tender beef strips in a sour cream sauce and no mushroom, the original recipe according to Google. I had mine with mash potatoes. Overall, two enjoyable dining experience. I do plan on trying out the entire menu. read more

I'll start off by saying I'm currently pregnant and PICKY about all foods these days which is why I was slightly hesitant to try this place... I'm so delighted that I did because I will now be a regular here. The beef stroganoff over the mashed potatoes is what I ordered, and it came hot & tasty via UberEats. The potatoes... So good.
