We left Butterfly World ( if you haven't seen it - GO NOW) and I wanted a Cuban sandwich. we arrived 10 minutes before closing (siesta) time, and they we gracious to serve us. If you want some authentic Cuban food at a great price, then this is the place for you. My first time here was a Saturday around 11am. They were still serving breakfast, but lunch was available as well. We had the Cuban sandwich and the grilled fish. The sandwich was the best Cuban we had ever had and the grilled fish was good, but not great. The service was very friendly and food was served pretty quickly. This restaurant is a hidden gem - seems to get a lot of local traffic for lunch and mid-day coffees. The staff speaks Spanish and English they are welcoming to tourists and outsiders. There is a small counter to eat at but they seem to do a lot of to-go food. We both ordered the Cuban coffee (cafe con leche). The coffee was rich and flavorful. The beans are freshly ground in house. The Cuban sandwiches were made right in front of us and we're piping hot and full of flavor. We split a chicken empanada the dough was crispy and thick - tasted homemade. We enjoyed every bite!! read more

Why the overall total score for this hole in the wall dive is 4.5 stars is beyond me. The first thing that's not so great about this place is the small parking. When you go into this tiny place all you feel is the heat, no relief from the 95 degree weather outside; where is the A/C, is it on?? The food quality is not great and not your typical Cuban food either. I've been eating Cuban food all my life and this is not it. I'm sure the cook isn't Cuban neither are any of the people working there and especially the waitresses, nothing wrong with that but reason why this food doesn't taste like your typical Cuban food. The "media noche" which is my favorite sandwich is drenched in butter and the ham is cut too thick. The "empanadas de pollo" are tasteless and pretty gross, sorry. The only thing I can say I've had there and I've enjoyed is the "batido de mamey" and that's about it. Now for the owner's son. This guy is pretty much an asshole. He has a really bad attitude which is one of the reasons I will stay away besides the C minus food. I went in to grab lunch with a Cuban co-worker (I'm Cuban myself) & a few minutes after we were there she made a comment to me, "Is this place Cuban or Mexican?" The owners son, the obnoxious guy sitting by the register replied to her out loud and nasty, "This is a Cuban restaurant, don't you see the name outside that says it?!" She tried to explain to him that she wasn't trying to be mean, that it was just an observation. He went off on her again and I had to intervene and tell him that he shouldn't be nasty to his customers especially a woman who was old enough to be his mother. He never apologized but what would you expect from an ignorant ass, seriously. So, when I want to eat Cuban food I will not be going to the "Cuban" Cafe. read more

The epitome of "hole in the wall" but that is the best part! The parking is horrible but it's because the place is always packed. We've been coming here for the better part of 10 years. The food is always on point, the service is quick and attentive. I miss the East Pompano location but this is the original spot. This place is terrible!!! I live in Miami, so I figured that being in broward the food wouldn't be the same but I never thought it would be so bad. I normally don't write reviews, and I even gave this place a second chance. On both occasions, I ordered sandwiches(pan con bistec & Cuban) the sandwiches were extremely salty. The bread was old and not only was the food not good but in order to pay with a card your purchase has to be over $10. So I was forced to buy a shake. Not traditional Cuban at all. On top of that the place is a hole in the wall that looks like it might just fall apart. It's one inspection away from being shut down. read more

The food was alright but not exceptional. Coming from years of living close to Miami I didn't find the Cuban Cafe worth going back to.

Ordered breakfast, took almost an hour and a half to get here(less than a mile away.) I did call after an hour and asked when my food would be delivered. The gentleman that answered phone asked me if I was told that it would be over an hour and I told him I was not told that important info (I would have ordered from somewhere else) He said oh well, we are busy. No no nooo, i dont mind halls in walls but i did expect actual cuban tasting food. First off nobody that i heard speaking was cuban. I ordered yuca and plantains as side dishes. Yuca was dry, no onions or sny liquid and they gave me maybe 5 super small pieces. The so call mojo was nothing but a powder garlic sauce. Okay.. Not going to lie this place is way overrated. The coffee is good and that's about it. I had ordered the cheese sandwich and they ended up giving me a cheese sandwich with ham and eggs.. The cheese was beyond plain, I'm not even joking it didn't taste like anything. I really tried to like the sandwich but it was so gross. Spot on taste with perfect seasoning and a nice size serving. It's a small joint with very limited seating. Lots of take-out going on. Wide variety of patrons. Good interaction with the staff. I was pretty starving and way too far to head to my go-to Cuban spot, Enriqueta's. Had my usual breakfast and while it wasn't horrible, it was definitely underwhelming. My scrambled eggs were just alright, my potatoes were cold on the plate, my friend's sandwich came out almost once I was done eating my breakfast, and let's say the best part was the café con leche and my tostada. Pretty noisey, the phone rings off the hook with no answer and there's plenty of confusion. Definitely won't be making the trip back up to Broward for "Cuban" breakfast here. read more

I ordered take out, milanesa with moros and maaduros, i ate the food after 2 hrs of just sitting there because i couldnt pick it up, even though it was at room temperature it was pretty good!!! Only complaint i have is that the milanesa compared to other cuban places is half the size and they gave me 3 maduritos which were really small, all in all good food so far but very small portions!!!! read more
