I ordered take out from Cuban Guys at this location and let me tell you, this place I've heard a lot of hype so decided to try it out. It's quite expensive for a small half full bowl of food at $8.49 but that wasn't the issue! The food was not edible the rice had extremely hard chunks inside (disgusting), black beans?? well it was mostly a soup with almost no beans, plantains were cold and hard and all stuck together and the meat had no flavor whatsoever! I expect paying $8.49 for a tiny bowl half full of food to be at least edible and great tasting! Ended up throwing the food away! Never ever go here! A lot of other places offer better tasting, that's edible and twice the amount of food for a lot less money! read more

I love the food here! I've had Fritas, the Vaca Fritas the Cuban bowls, pan con bistec, Papa Rellenas Mmmm. Delish! The only thing that throws me off is how dirty it is. All tables dirty the floor is also dirty with food. I never eat there. Last time I went by there were two buckets by the coca cola machine catching the leak from the ceiling. I always take out. I've had the frita, pan con bistec, and vaca frita sandwich. The vaca frita sandwich is my favorite of the three. It has great flavor and juiciness. I also like the self-dispensing drink machine where you can custom make your drink. They also have cold beer available. I've also tried the mariquitas which are also good. I usually go to the Hialeah Gardens store, but have also gone to the one outside of Westland Mall in Hialeah. They are both clean, and attractive. They serve good cuban fast food at a good price. They have a daily special after 4pm during the week on the more popular selections, Service is fast, and they cook it right behind the counter. read more

The Cuban Guys in Hialeah Gardens is awesome. I've come to eat at this location several times before writing this review and I gotta say I love the food they have there. The steak sandwich (pan con bistec) and fried cow sandwich (vaca frita sandwich) are my favorite sandwiches to eat at this location. The staff and environment is very welcoming to which it gives an overall good experience. The only reason why I'm giving 4 stars is because the menu is a bit pricey for the items that they offer. They have $5 all day breakfasts. Their tequeños are delicious and their cafe con leche is served when you get there if you ordered takeout so it doesn't get cold. It's a small action but it showed me they care. I'll definitely be stopping by again soon. read more

Came all the way from New York and visited the N Miami a beach location. What a great staff! So friendly and attentive. Asked to purchase at shirt which is not for sale and the owner, George was nice enough to come and make a special visit and drop off 2 shirts ! Who does that? Food was great and fresh . I was born & raised in the heart of Hialeah so I'm always skeptical when a new Cuban restaurant opens in the area. I must confess I was happily surprised and even further impressed with this place. First off their signature plate is the Frita. All ingredients were fresh and the burger itself was bountiful. My husband is a bottomless pit and could barely finish the 2 fritas he had. The menu itself has most of your typical Cuban sandwiches (pan con lechon, media noche, etc) but trying to think outside the box I had the Cuban hot dog - butterfly cut then grilled to perfection ! It's served on a Cuban bread roll, not your typical hot dog bun with a touch of mustard some chopped raw onions and a plentiful amount of fresh cut & fried julienne potatoes, not those salty potato sticks from a can. The creme of the creme was the not so typical dessert..... a cappuccino flan. The 1st taste takes you back a bit but after that the creaminess of the flan along with the subtle coffee taste will take you to another plateau !!! Cuban Guys is an amazing little joint. From Pembroke Pines, it's only a 15-20 minute drive but definitely worth the flavor. I am madly in love with the egg and cheese sandwich, vaca frita bowl, and of course the frita. The mariquitas, ice cream sandwich, and churros are also devine. Great food at a terrific value. So you live in Miami and you have ate at all the original spots to find all your favorite cuban foods and then this place called Cuban Guys and it totally changes the game. My girl and I heard of the spot thru YELP and other friends and we had to check it out. We got there and noticed the place is clean and very modern. Even had one of them new coke machines (which blew my mind as if i have never seen technology before). We ordered the breakfast which had 2 fried eggs, bacon, tostada (cuban bread toast for my gringos) & un cafecito (expresso) as well as a Pan con Bistec (steak sandwhich). EVERYTHING was on point. Seriously, left a last impression on me. The breakfast is as good as it can get, but the pan con bistec won us over. It was delicious! It had a tangy sauce and home made juilene (or however you spell it) fries aka Papaitas! The portions were more than adequate, and the staff was very professional. I WILL BE GOING BACK! read more

Love the Fritas! The food is delicious. Service is fast and friendly, the only negative I have for this place is that the eating area is not very clean when I go on the weekends. I never see the staff cleaning tables or sweeping the floors after patrons eat, so I always have to clean my own table. read more

It's not often you go somewhere to eat and the employees are so nice, polite and get your order right the first time. the wait for the food is not long. also the food prices are comparible to wht you spend at a mcdonals or bk difference is at cuban fuys you are getting freshly cooked food compared to your microwved burger at mcd or bk! Found place on yelp when we were in a new area. It was small but clean and the staff was friendly. The sandwiches were great. Pan con bistec and Pan con lechon were both quite tasty and affordable. Only issue was with the kids chicken tenders. They tasted like processed chicken and not real chicken. Even the little one didn't want them. Otherwise, a nice meal. This is a fast casual Cuban restaurant going on three locations. I imagined that they would have a different take on Cuban food and that food would be so spectacular that it would cause a Cuban metamorphosis--I would dust off my fuzzy and dusty Cuban dice and place them back on my rear view mirror and I would throw on my old guayabera and prance around town to the sound of loud Salsa music. But no, the re-embracing of my culture came to a screeching halt as soon as I tasted the food. The steak sandwich and tamale were good...but not great. The frita (Cuban hamburger) was really disappointing. The patty was thin and the taste bland. They also need better quality control with the sausage they use in their meat as I bit into a chunk of bone half the size of a pencil eraser. Ouch! and WTF! Maybe the bone incident skewed my review. It was the Cuban version of a turd in the punch bowel. I might give the place another try but not the frita. read more

My wife and daughter each ordered the same thing: two vaca frita Cuban bowls. My son ordered the Pan con Bistec and I had the Cuban Guys Sandwich. Let's begin with the positive: everyone loved my sandwich. The Cuban Guys Sandwich is a fantastic blend. Our complaint about the other dishes is that they don't know how to season the food well, plus the vaca frita was pretty stale. My son's pan con bistec and the girl's vaca tasted too much like cumin and felt like stringy leather. The rice was super oily too. The beans were seasoned in a careless manner; they were from a large batch made with no love. These black beans reminded me of pollo tropical's lumpy out of the can taste . We didn't like the food presentation of the bowls neither. We understand the value of an avant garde expression in food presentation, but not everyone likes their food piled on top of each other like that; it looked unappetizing. We also ordered three maracuya (passion fruit) juices and they were watered down. My mango juice was fine. What can I say with so much competition in this over-saturated market of Cuban cuisine, Cuban Guys didn't win us over. But check it out, maybe you'll like it. read more

I really, really wanted to like the food here and based on the reviews I was sure I would...but I didn't. There were 3 of us and none of us finished our meals because they were just too greasy - I got a frita and the other 2 people with me got breakfast sandwiches - and you could just see the grease rolling right off. Gross. The frita tasted stale and the potato sticks that come with it were inedible - burnt and just not good. We also ordered French fries which nobody ate either - they were super hard and had no flavor. Then to add insult to injury, I seem to have developed a bad case of food poisoning - a few hours after leaving here I started to get terrible stomach pains and threw up multiple times. That was all I had eaten that day so I'm certain that I didn't get it from elsewhere. And a comment about the staff - I didn't really find them very nice or welcoming - the guy taking the order was only half listening so I had to keep repeating myself...he was too busy singing and chit chatting with the lady making the food. I would have complained while I was there about the quality of the food, but I couldn't even get the guy at the register to listen to an order, I doubted he was going to now listen to a complaint. The only enjoyable experience was the Coke machine - loved having a lot of drink variety. But thats pretty much it :( So disappointed - again, I really really wanted to like this place because I visit Hialeah very often and get tired of eating at the same places. For Cuban fast food, this is pretty good! I was visiting Florida for some days and we were looking for some Cuban food that wouldn't be too expensive and we found this place. They have a selection of "cuban" sandwiches (frankly some of these are unknown in Cuba), I asked my Cuban family (living in Cuba) if they knew the crispy thin fries that are served here as authentic, and none knew about them. But even if this or anything else was invented by Cuban Americans in the U.S., it's OK. They also have rice and bean bowls, served with these thin fries, sweet plantains (cut into small cubes) and your choice of protein. Since I was sick with a cold most of the time we were in Miami, I mostly ordered their side of rice and beans (we went there several times), which was not too abundant but enough for me as I recovered. Everyone agreed this is a really nice place and as I mentioned before, we returned several times and when back in Miami, we'll probably go back again. read more

Food's pretty good. Cuban food in a fast food setting. Great concept, clean, well lit and nicely decorated. The mariquitas (fried green plantains) are thick cut and well fried, not too greasy. The same thing cannot be said of the julienne fries served in the Cuban bowls (bowls of rice, beans and choice of meat) and sandwiches. They would be better if crisper and not so loaded with grease. The cut up maduros (fried ripe plantains) in the Cuban bowls are a nice, unexpected addition. Watch out for sneaky pricing though, when you are asked if you want mayo, lettuce and tomato on your sandwich, you're not told that making your sandwich "deluxe" carries a $.50 upcharge. (Not a big deal, I know, but it's the principle of the thing). Fountain sodas as well as Latin canned sodas are available, milkshakes too. The wheat shake we tried was tasty and sweet. Dessert choices include different flavors of flan and other Latin standards. Breakfast is available all day, although you would expect that they would open earlier than 8 am. read more

Dont know whats gone wrong but I'll describe my experience last monday. The place was dirty with trash cans to the rim and overflowing to floor. The Papas rellenas and Malaga fritters we ordered were so uncooked the inside was cold. The employees were busier talking to each other than the line of customers. Found this place on Yelp and decided to pay a visit since I was in the area. I was drawn to them after reading about their "awesome" Fritas (Cuban burgers) on Yelp. I was less than impressed. The toasted Cuban hamburger bun (the one with the initials on their webpage) was overcooked and hard and complimented the meat patty which was similarly overcooked. Fritas are supposed to be made with chorizo sausage which was the last thing this one contained. I should have known I was in trouble when the person taking my order asked me if I wanted cheese on my frita. Heresy! Even the shoestring fries were tasteless and dry. I will say that their mamey shake was adequate for a fast food place but that was all. By the way, fast food it was not. I went there on a Saturday at 2 PM and waited 20 minutes from the time I placed my order until my name was called. If you are looking for a genuine Cuban frita, you need not stop here. read more

I had the Frita with fries on the side. Super. Duper. Delicious. My boyfriend had the Media Noche but as soon as he tried a bite of my burger he wished he had ordered one too. He said his was also very good though. The service was fast and the place was very clean. The only thing that was missing was a high-chair. My 19 month old daughter was dancing around the restaurant to the music, haha. I didnt see any in plain sight. Other than that, it was a great experience.
