Was in town for work trying a different restaurant every night. This one... authentic Cuban pizza- was some of the best I have ever had in my life. I got the Hawaiian (my favorite) and the Chorizo. Two hearty personal pizzas the size of a dinner paper plate for under $19.00. The best explanation would be a Chicago style flavored crust which is very light and airy with a tangy cheese with very light sauce. I had never heard of Cuban pizza before, so of course I had to try it. Subtle differences from standard pizza, but oh so delicious. They have a great description on the menu explaining what Cuban pizza is. Menu is limited, but in a good way. Not overwhelming at all. A few sandwiches, pizza and spaghetti. Pizza comes in two sizes: personal and family. The box for the family size looks like a standard medium sized pizza. FYI they do not sell individual slices. So I opted for a personal, plain cheese pizza because I wanted to get the real experience of what this pizza should taste like. The price was spot on, 6 bucks! Can't beat it. I also decided to try one of their sodas called Kola Champagne. It was fantastic. It tastes like the old school fruit stripe gum. Best description I can give. So my pizza arrived not too long after ordering. The pizza was a nice size. It's very reminiscent to pizza huts personal pan style, but not greasy at all!! Very fluffy and light. The sauce was fantastic. Again very light and slightly sweet. They use mozzarella and gouda cheese, making for a delicious stringy blend. The cheese goes all the way to the edge of the pizza, so there's no crust. Great for those pizza eaters that leave the crust behind. I'm a crust girl myself, but the cheese was so fantastic and crispy at the edge, I didn't miss it. I will definitely return to this restaurant for their pizza and to try their Cuban sandwich. They are also now serving cafe bustelo coffee, so if you need a caffeine buzz and some hair on your chest, grab some coffee there! read more

Having a hankering for good pizza and to Dave my salmon dinner for another night, I decided that I'd finally check out Cuban Pizzeria's pizza. I've had their spaghetti and really enjoyed it so it was time to find out what this is really all about. First, I found out what a Cuban pizza is: thicker dough, different sauce, mozzarella and gouda cheese, toppings held in place by the cheese overload. I'm down for that. I ordered a veggie personal pizza and a soda called Materva (like Yerba mate ginger ale) in my delivery app and it was on my doorstep in the amount of time they said it would be there. I could smell the pizza through my door and it smelled delicious. I picked up a small pizza box and a bag containing the soda and brought it in. I tasted the Materva and yup, ginger ale like. Just perfect and light enough to enjoy with a pizza. Upon opening the box I discovered that the pizza was no bigger than a paper plate, perfect size for one person. I took a slice in my hand and took a bite. The ratio of toppings to dough is perfectly balanced and I really liked the puffy dough. I couldn't stop eating it until it was all gone. I was full and satisfied. Definitely going to be on my list of quick and delicious eats. read more

Cuban Pizzeria - what could this be I wondered. I had to look it up and find out during a recent trip to Jacksonville. They sell pizza which is made with a little different style dough and a combination of mozzarella and Gouda cheese I believe. They also sell Cuban sandwiches and I love those! So, I had to try them. The pizza was solid. It had a few things that reminded me of the older style pan pizzas from Pizza Hut but it was better than that. The dough was not very heavy despite being thick. The Cuban sandwich had good flavor and bread although the pork was dry both times I got it on two separate days. They do make it fresh and put both mayonnaise and mustard on it. read more

If you like saucy pizza this place is NOT for you. Figured I'd get that out of the way. My experience here was just so so. The service was friendly but not very attentive. Drinks are in cans not fountain drinks. The Cuban sandwich was meh the ham used seemed like great value brand at best. The pizza is meh. Came here the other day to try this place as I thought it might be interesting. As you enter, the server asks if you speak Spanish, and if you say you speak English, no problem. The server was friendly, and it did not take long to get my order. I ordered a personal (small size) pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms. I love a good Cubano and have never had one as good as what we used to get at a little walk-up window at a Cuban market in Key West. I've had good ones though. Today for lunch I tried Cuban Pizzeria on University (close to work). They used to be a food truck and may do that still, idk. This Cubano was probably the best one I've had outside of Key West. It all starts with the bread and it was light and crisp and flaky on the outside and pressed perfectly. The pork, ham, cheese,pickle and mustard were all as they should be. It's hard to find authentic Cuban food here and although the menu limited to sandwiches and Cuban pizza....yes I said pizza its a great little spot. The pizza was kind of good, but would I order it again? No. There are so many options of pizza to consider when leaving this review, hence my 3 stars. I got pepperoni mushroom and onion pizza! It looks amazing and I was so excited to take my first bite but once I got a wiff of it, something turned me off. They don't use just regular mozzarella, which is great for a cheese lover but im really picky about cheese, any strong flavor is off putting to me. My cheese loving friend loved it. The crust is thick, pan pizza style! It was suuuuper greasy, (I know I know its pizza), but the box was soaked in oil. I didn't like that they chopped the mushrooms up into small bits, I could barely notice they were there and of course I paid extra for it. The total was just above $20 for that one pizza. Worth it? Not in my opinion but you might enjoy this style of pizza. read more

A few weeks ago I was driving on Merrill rd and passed a food truck that advertised Cuban pizza. Of course I could not resist the urge to try something new. Food was good. Cuban pizza was something a little different, but tasted great. We got the chorizo. It was priced well and had lots of meat. Meat didn't have the typical spice you would expect with chorizo though. Tasted more like a bacon. I think next time I would just try the cheese though. We also tried a Cuban sandwich. Given the options for a decent Cuban sandwich around here, it definitely beat out the competition and was the closest I've tasted to when we lived in south FL. It was a good size with enough meat. Considerably more expensive for just the sandwich than what I'm used to ($9) but I would still pay it again. The fries were a waste of time. Small, Expensive and flavorless. My first time trying Cuban pizza and I enjoyed it. It probably won't be a frequent stop as Cuban pizza is too doughy for my tastes. I got a chorizo and mushroom individual pizza. The chorizo didn't have the sharp spicy flavor I'm used to for chorizo and the mushrooms overpowered it. The pie really was cheesy and the cheese was a flavorable blend of mozzarella and Gouda.
