When I helped my daughter and her family moved to the Middleburg area last July, we were looking for someplace for dinner on our first night in her new home. We decided on Aspendos and, wow, were we glad we did! Every dish was delicious. As a result, while spending the Christmas holidays with my daughter, I made sure we went to Aspendos and again on my third visit a few weeks ago. While I have fallen in love with their Penne alla Vodka, I have sampled other dishes and found them to be very good, as well (my daughter's go-to is their pesto pasta dish). This is a small operation, run by three members of the same family. If you have a large group you will need to wait awhile for your food, but it's worth the wait. We have some good Italian restaurants where I live in California, but I wish we had Aspendos here! read more

I came back! Yes, yes I did. And let me tell you the food is just as great every time I eat here. We ordered pizza - half cheese and half pepperoni. The sauce was the perfect balance of acidic and tomato with a touch of light sweetness, and not too heavy of sauce on each slice. It lets the balance of toppings speak for itself - excellent pizza dough, soft bite with crunch, well toasted, and they used Real Cheese. You know the difference with "pizza cheese" and Real Cheese, and it was delicious. I came as part of a Free "Mental Health Day" event (Thanks, Project Human Inc. Non-Profit) this awesome restaurant partnered with. I love companies that believe in community support and supporting a good cause! (Thank you, Aspendos!) We had several slices of pizza and sodas, plus a friend got red wine and was happy with it. The event was all about how we can give other people a blessing by of a kind word or message, and helpful activities on how to manage your time and energy better. Ordered takeout again and was impressed with all the food! I can't rate the restaurant's service again, but if the food is this good, then I can imagine how the service is! Ratings as follows: Alfredo - 10/10 - had a huge craving for it and it did not disappoint. Cheesy, creamy, noodles al dente, and oh so rich! It hits all the cravings! First time visit. Small, quaint place with spacious seating with boots and table. A little bit of Italian atmosphere decor enough to make it presentable. Very clean. Decided on a medium pie to order and I was pleasantly surprised of the different taste it provided. It was perfect for the desired taste as it was not very saucy and overwhelming. The server was very attentive, considering it was him and one other employee and was attending to tables, customer care, seating, and clean up one's customers departed. We were going in this area and so we planned to dine-in at Aspendos. We were greeted warmly and seated right away. I already know what to order which is their baked lasagna. It was really tasty and even though it looks like it's swimming with too much sauce, it was just enough when you start eating it. I tasted lamb, and our server confirmed it has lamb. I enjoyed this so much! I also get to try my husband's spaghetti with meatballs and it was delicious as well, although this one has too much sauce, but good thing that is what my husband prefers. This quiet little Italian place in Oakleaf is a delight. Wonderful pastas and pizzas so close to home and none of the disappointments of a big chain. This is Italian comfort food at its finest. The chicken in my parm was so thinly hammered and beautifully breaded. It was perfectly seasoned. The sauce was so rich with chunky tomatoes but perfectly balanced acidity. The pasta was also perfectly al dente and was hot and fresh unlike places that cook it and then do a quick dunk to reheat. My son couldn't pause eating to comment so clearly it was good. I love this place! My sister, who lived in NJ for a bit, love a good thick crust. When I called in for some pizzas she, at first, said she didn't want a pizza because the crust was not to her level of thickness. The gentleman on the phone said they could make one with a thicker crust and she agreed to get the pizza. Let me tell you, she LOVED that pizza. She said it was just right and it reminded her of the ones she use to get in NJ. I order a regular pepperoni pizza and it was delicious!! Since then, I've always order a thicker crust for my sister and regular for me. I had dinner with friends on a Tuesday evening at Aspendos Italian. There was a large group of us which they happily accommodated. I ordered the cheesesteak calzone and fried mushrooms. The calzone was served hot and cheesy and loaded with meat. I also liked the marinara. The fried mushrooms were hot and delicious and also served with marinara. Heard good things so I scheduled a white pizza to be picked up at 3:30. I walk in at 3:30 and that pizza has been sitting here at least 30 min on top of the oven. It's hard as a rock totally gross. One and done I originally rated this a 1. The owner reached out to me right away and offered to remake the pizza no charge and even deliver it to me. I told him I didn't need another pizza and he immediately refunded my credit card. No questions asked. He was extremely apologetic and I truly believe this may have been one time incident. Been a little while since I've written a review because we've been traveling for the last 2 months in the motorhome and I've been cooking a lot. So at the house working on clearing it out, and it's my birthday, so I wanted good Italian food that I didn't have to make myself. The go-to is closed on Tuesday now, and Aspendos is less than 5 minutes away, so this looked like a solid option. The place was completely empty when we walked in at 5:30, so I was wondering if it was the right choice. It was. Seated and beverage orders were taken. They only have a limited selection of beer so I had a sweet tea. There was another couple with us, so we ordered apps to share. Every restaurant should have fried mushrooms like these. Super good and fresh. The garlic knots were hot, fresh and soft, but could have used a little more garlic seasoning. Both were served with a very good marinara sauce as well. Mama ordered the Deluxe Calzone and I went for the Italian staple of lasagna. Both were excellent, with the sauce on the lasagna really putting it over the top. Good size portions, so I have lunch for tomorrow and mama has lunch for the next 3 days. Pretty typical decor for an Italian place, with pictures on the walls and some wine bottles scattered around, but nothing too remarkable. Service was fairly prompt and attentive, considering everything is made fresh to order, which slows things down a bit. My tea glass never got empty, so I was happy. Me and my husband went here about a month ago and it was so good! Each portion of food is big! I could hardly finish anything and it made for good left overs. Our waitress was so sweet and attentive, I didn't catch her name. We were the only people in there during that time of day but it was quiet and relaxing in the booths where we sat. I think the waiter was new. He took our order and quite awhile later he brought only my husbands order, an experienced waiter would never bring out one persons meal before the full parties were ready. ...Mine came out 10 min later! 11/18/ 2024 Stopped in with a friend for pizza. The cook needs to be fired! We waited almost an hour when the pizza arrived, it was overcooked. We were only the 2nd table. The Caesar side salad had a 1/2 a bottle of dressing poured over it we were charged 7.99 !!! Seriously no exaggeration !!! When the pizza finally arrived, it was soo overcooked almost burnt. It tasted like we were eating a cardboard pizza from the grocery store. The pizza was over priced $18 for a large cheese pizza with 2 additional skimpy toppings at 1.50 a piece. We mentioned it to the waiter, but of course, it was not his fault. He did a great job as he apologized. I can see why the restaurant almost empty!!! We will not return. Several things were wrong here! We have tried them 3x to give the benefit of the doubt, but will not be going back. Our last visit our food was late. Said it would be ready and I waited an additional 20 minutes. Normally this is not a big deal, but my pizza sat out getting cold while I waited for them to get the rest of my order. Don't order the garlic knots!! They are dry and horrible! I watched the worker take pre made knots out of a container and place in the oven to heat up. Other places, the garlic knots are dripping with garlic and butter but these were dried up rolls with no flavor. The Alfredo sauce is mixed with pesto sauce. Why??? I will say the pizza was not too bad just WAY OVERPRICED!! $2.50 for each extra topping. Crazy!! I was really hoping to like this place but I just could not. read more
