I've been searching Jax since I moved here to find a great place for a legit slice of pizza and I found it D&LP Subs. The crew was friendly and quick to serve, and the interior decor took me home as it was just ripped out of some of the places I used to visit when I worked in the Philly area. I'll have to go back to try some of their subs and other pizzas. The pizza is a thin crust, cooked and flavored well and just a really solid slice. Fantastic!!! This is one of our go to takeout restaurants. I haven't been inside but I've heard it's small and more of to go rather than eat in. What I do know is that online ordering is quick and easy. I've been trying to go to D & LP subs for a while now and yesterday I found myself at beach at lunchtime, and I made it! Oh my goodness it was amazing! It was so delicious, I ordered the Italian sub with the works and it was absolutely the best Italian sub I've ever had! I ordered the 8" and I swear it must have weighed 5 lbs. I had 1/2 at lunch and finished the rest for supper. My husband had the ham, turkey and bacon sub with most of the works ingredients and he agreed the subs were fantastic! I'm excited to try the pizzas and wings but honestly I'll have a hard time ordering any thing else because that sub is that good! Also the shop was clean and staff were super friendly and happy. While there's no seating inside there are 2 tables out front which were kept clean. I LOVE this place and will drive to beach in future to go here! I highly recommend this establishment read more

I walked in to this establishment last night with my aunt and uncle 15 minutes before they closed. (Yelp says they close at 11pm but they actually close at 10pm). They were still happy to make hero's and a small pie for us to go. I had the veal park here (no pic here) and it was good. The veal was good, the sauce was good. DL& P is a sub shop located near the beach which makes it convenient if you want to pick up a sub, wings, pizza, calzone or Stromboli as they have a large menu of options. They even offer Tiramisu as a dessert option. However, we came here on the recommendation of their Italian cold sub. by some folks. My husband has been on a quest to find a NY deli style Italian sub for going on 5 years. The quest will continue. He ordered an Italian combo with the works minus mayo & a few other options. He gave it 4 out of 5 mostly because of the bread. I tend to agree with him. There are very, very few places in Jax with good bread. He found the sandwich tasty but not like a good ole NY Italian combo. I ordered a turkey sub with all the fixings. Mine was good but also the bread was lacking. I also found the olives they used tasted a little weird. Perhaps from a can not a jar? We did really enjoy the fried mushroom with a side of ranch. They were nice and crispy and the oil they were fried in was fresh. For a sauce I much prefer a horseradish based mayo though This is mostly a to go place but they do have 3/4 tables to dine in. Your website really needs work. We ordered a Philly and Stromboli. On my girlfriend's IPhone 12, which is the one we used, when you order the cheesesteak it doesn't show a checked box next to onions, peppers and mushrooms. It only shows a plus button on the left to order more or less. So I ordered a cheesesteak with lite onion. I ended up with a cheesesteak that has peppers and mushrooms and lite onions. I had no idea that the mushrooms and peppers were already selected My IPhone 13 showed that I should have unchecked the boxes. The food is fantastic and I would recommend everyday to people. But maybe have the website checked. Going to throw away a $15 sub and that sucks. Stromboli is amazing as always. Update, DNLP just called and we were eating. But I respect them calling. The pepperoni pizza was very good. We felt like the crust was perfect. The wings on the other hand, the seasoning was OK, but we felt they could've been crispier. The sweet pizza dough dipped in powdered sugar with raspberry sauce were actually pretty good, we like that they were something different at this pizza shop. The issue that I want to share is that after my wife ordered a pizza, 20 wings, the dessert pizza dough bites, and onion rings our total was $79. The lady behind my wife ordered and the guy offered her the special - One large pizza, 20 wings and a 2 L of Coke for $41.99. My wife thought, he didn't offer me the special. So when she went back to the counter to ask about the special, he said "just grab a 2 L coke, it'll all even out." But when she did the math no, the difference was nine dollars! My wife asked another worker there and she voided the initial sale and rang it to save us the nine dollars. Also be careful with the up charges. The special is pretty good, but if you add one topping to the pizza, it's an extra four dollars, even though the special does not say it's just a cheese pizza. Also, if you split the 20 wings and ask for two different sauces, 10 and 10, they'll charge you an extra dollar too. read more

I am not sure what took me so long to try this place! Got the large pizza and 20 wings deal -- thought the price was fair. I brought it home for the fam and it was gone in a flash! Loved that we could order the pizza and the wings how we like it--crispy. Crust was as close to NY style as possible, and the Cajun ranch wings were crispy with a nice kick. We just ordered a large pizza with four toppings that cost $37 dollars when you can order a deluxe or specialty pizza for $27. So I paid ten dollars more for less. Does that make sense? We have been customers for years and normally do a deluxe. The one time we switch gears we get ripped off!!! Four dollars for onions and mushrooms. Are you kidding me? We were in town for a wedding on "rivalry weekend" in college football. We absolutely had to have pizza and wings for the Noon games. Jumped on Yelp and found these guys not too far away. Here is a review of each item we ordered: 1. Slice of Margherita - fantastic. Tomatoes were sliced a little too think for my liking but the slice was excellent. 2. Large Cheese Pizza - cooked perfectly (we asked for well done). Ratio of sauce and cheese was spot on! 3. Extra Hot Wings - had a kick to them for sure. Not over the top but I like very spicy. To the average Jack or Jill, probably a little to spicy. Came as ordered - well done. They were BIG!! And excellent. 4. Nashville Hot Wings - great seasoning. Authentic in taste. Very good! 5. Honestly I have no idea how this place has 4.5 stars, I first payed $19.41 for a 12in pizza, the pizza is like a pizza you get from a snack bar at a pool, doe was floppy mess, greasiest pizza I've ever had, the cheese is bad quality, and it reminds me of a frozen pizza you get at Publix, it's bad when dominos has less grease on their pizza then this place. Some holidays, to me, just make sense. Like pi day. On March 14th, you eat pie. Doesn't matter what kind, just eat some. And pi day gave me a great reason to go to a fine Jax Beach staple, D&LP subs. You know, for pie. The pizza kind. I've been to D&LP several times. Not sure why I haven't reviewed this great place in the past, but I highly recommend it. It's a little space right off of A1A. Not a lot of seating, so if you have a big party I would think about take out. Lots of Philly memorabilia on the walls and it has a great "local hang out" vibe to it. Even if you're not a fan of Philly sports. Ok. As for the food? The pizza is good. The sauce is a bit on the sweeter side. Crust is thin. And they sell slices which is always a plus. To me though, the real star at D&LP is the sub. Well, subs. I've had several and have enjoyed every single one that I've tried. This last time I ordered the eggplant parm. Layers of thin sliced eggplant, tomato sauce and cheese, all in a great sun bun that is not too squishy. No one likes a too squishy bun. I've had the meatball, the sausage, even some of the cold subs. Loved all of them. I usually order the 8" which is the small. It's a big sub sub so if you're not super hungry, or sharing, it should be the perfect size. Staff at D&LP is very friendly and never forgets to ask, if carrying out, whether you need red pepper flakes or Parmesan cheese to go with your order. Don't wait for the next pi day. We just continue to love this spot and go pretty much every week now unless we are out of town. Best pizza we have found since moving down here from Amelia Island three years ago. The staff is super friendly and the orders take 30 minutes usually. Today I stopped in while in the area and picked up a pizza and wings to go around 4:30. Twenty minutes later I had my food and was on the way home. Hubby reheated the wings in the oven a few hours later when he got in and said they were really good. Went to lunch here for the first time a couple of days ago with my mother and brother. We started with the bruschetta bread and then we each had a different entree/sandwich. The bruschetta bread by itself was a whole other level! Never have I tasted bruschetta bread that good and I've had it a lot of places. My mother had this sausage and peppers sandwich while my brother had one of their Philly cheese steaks. I had the Italian sub. All three were very delicious. Highly recommend this place if you have not been you are definitely missing out. This is my favorite philli steak in town. I like the balance of meat, onions and peppers. The vibe is laid back and not a huge bustle of people. Maybe I just hit it at the right times but I have always received my order lickety-split. I asked Danny if he was doing something special for the SuperbOwl this weekend and he said, "probably frying up a mess a wangs". He doesn't talk like that, but that's the feeling I got. I came here a lot for pizza slices and subs when I moved back to Jax Beach in 2020 and felt very welcomed back to the east coast. I have never written a review before, but eating here for the first time last night inspired me to do so. My girlfriend and I just moved down to Jacksonville from Philly and have been hearing about D&LP from a few friends. This place tastes like home. We ordered more food than we thought we'd be able to finish so we could try different things, and ended up leaving with nothing left. As soon as the pizza came out I knew we were in for something special. The slice reminded me of a classic boardwalk slice at the Jersey shore. Crisp bottom, great sauce, excellent all around. The hoagie and steak came out next and our eyes lit up as soon as we saw them. Cheese mixed throughout the steak just like the top places at home, hoagie packed to the gills. They even had hot pepper relish. That's how you know you're getting the real deal. I was going to ask for ketchup for the steak, but it didn't need it. It was that legit. To round out the experience, we had a great conversation with the owner Chris. He was behind the counter working which just speaks to the pride he has in his store. Coming from Wildwood NJ, he did the Northeast justice with his shop. The personal touch Chris added just pushed things over the top for us, and we are looking forward to being regular customers for years to come. As always or as often as possible I stopped in to see the lads and lasses at Lynch's Irish Pub for one of Justine's decadent Bloody Marys. After two I slammed on the brakes and got right outta there. I was on a quest. In this group many have opined on pizza wings and Philly Cheesesteaks. A particularly adamant group has declared D&LP the best of the beaches. A million times I've driven unsuspectingly passed this discrete location. Today I was locked in. I stopped in earlier before the Bloodys to grab and review a menu. I also had the chance to meet and chat with D( D'Ambrosia) and L (Lewis) (sp?)the brothers who own and operate the shop. I knew this was a special place when the surfer dude helping out was singing along with the Country jam on the radio. A sign of a happy work environment when you get your employees to buy into your music . Upon my return I unloaded all my inhibitions and desires. It was after all Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras, the most decadent day of the year. While I didn't expect to have to show my tits, I was prepared. D'Ambrosia dipped his pen in the blood of a recently sacrificed capicola and began scribing. One Philly w/ fries and the $39.99 Large Pizza w/ 20 wings special. Gimme some pepperoni on that bad boy because this ain't Portnoy's survey. I should have grabbed a lass from Lynch's to help manage this masterpiece of a mid-Autumn feast. But it was all mine to gluttonize for the sake of punditry. I took many photos to illustrate the divine archs and naves throughout the display. As though minions laughed beyond the kitchen door as the big man beheld his order. It was the rising and setting sun through the prism of the Northern Lights. A flash from Willy Wonka's psychedelic boat ride. I saw constellations of pepperoni. The sauce was incredibly flavorful and perfectly balanced. The crust was crisp and buttery and held the toppings with integrity. The pie was other-worldly , which is so rewarding when you venture out for food experiences. The Philly was a Rorschach of flavor. It was beef and butterflies and perhaps even my birth. The fries were thick, crispy and uncanny. It was as if a Yuca and a steak fry fell into oil together like Joker and Harley Quinn. The wings may have been Angel's wings donated by Michael and Gabriel themselves. As if the battle for Heaven and Hell was won and these wings were the spoils of Victory and Glory. I consumed half the sandwich, two slices and 3 wings before tapping out. All while Lewis churned what appeared to be a 72 quart pot of marinara sauce. I literally could have dove in like Augustus Gloop. This was an experience I was taking home to enjoy again after Ash Wednesday. I had no idea what I was going to give up??? What would it matter? After this fornication of food I was unsure if even God possessed enough mercy to save me However, the brothers deserve your business. The menu is remarkably diverse. It will takes months to try everything. Like a Honeymoon in Heaven. Can't wait to get back. Pretty small joint so keep that in mind. Beer and Wine. Great pizza (pepperoni and the blt), great service, wonderful waitress/cashier- she was handling it all), pizza was fresh, not greasy, thin NY style crust with a light crispiness to it without being crispy (does this make sense). Cheesy and yummy and brought me back to Jersey. Small place, limited seating. I ordered in store, had a bear while I waited. The line out the door and the phone ringing didn't stop, but they didn't miss a beat and were as pleasant as could me. You could tell they have lots of regulars from the conversation. First and LAST time ordering take-out pizza. We had heard good reviews and I am astonished on what we got. Ordered a large deluxe pizza tonight- busy when we got there but told normal. The LIMITED ingredients were just thrown in the middle of the pizza which made the crust stick to the box - think was under cooked also. We struggled to find any sausage or pepperoni on the pizza - really did not see any!!! Tomato sauce was bland and basic. Two of the eight slices look like cheese pizza because the LIMITED ingredients were dumped in the middle!I It got worse as we tried to get the pizza out of the box - pizza fell apart and not better when we warmed up in oven, The worst part is we paid $30.30 for this mess. I will never order from this place again. Pizza Hut across the street offers a better value compared to D & LP - less expensive with more ingredients. If not for the rain and we live 25 minutes away I would have taken pizza mess back and demanded a refund. read more
