Got a half rack of baby back ribs. It came with a delicious side of mash potatoes. The ribs were extremely tender, but it had absolutely no flavors except for bbq sauce. I found a few stones, not sure if it was from a charcoal, but did not taste any smoke in the meat. total of $27 plus change!!!! chicken breast and half ribs was $40 +. What is going on here? what are they charging for? I do not understand the pricing. I don't find anything special or beyond ok to be at that price point. There isn't even table service. Being in my rotation of lunch spots, you could say I frequent here often. I like that they are consistent with flavor. When I find something that works, I stick with it! My usual is their half portion BBQ pulled pork on garlic bread, which comes with coleslaw, and a larger-than-normal bottle of water, all for $10.70. Don't want it on garlic bread? No problem! They offer other choices. Too much sauce? No problem! Just ask for light sauce. As a customer, being able to customize your order is a bonus. Ate the 'baby back' ribs. These ribs weren't very 'baby'.... and if they were 'baby' then that baby must be a mutant pig bc those ribs looked like they were regular size to me. (Aren't baby back ribs supposed to be like 3 inches long or something?) Regardless of whatever monster baby pig they're using they still managed to make the meat so tender and juicy that the meat just slides right off the bone and melts in your mouth. Perfect example of why I think Yelp needs a half-star rating option. Better than a three star but not quite a four. Anyway, the ribs were ok. They aren't smoked, likely baked and finished on the grill. They were tender, but over sauced. They weren't anything special, really, and that's what they claim to be famous for. Buffalo Wings were decent, cooked well and had a good kick to them. Fries were nothing special, but the onion rings were awesome! Worst part? It's expensive. I been to this place once and I have been passing it for years yesterday I decided to give it a try. The first thing I noticed was the prices were not just high but totally out of control. I ordered a cheeseburger platter that came with a side of fries and a little plastic container the size of what you would put ketchup in or mustard to go of coleslaw. So right off the bat I wasn't happy but on top of it the food was below average the fries were swimming in grease the burger was not freshly made for that money it should be. Cubby's BBQ was a random find for my friends and me as we were searching for dinner on a Friday night. We walked in and weren't expecting to see a setup where you order food at the counter and seat yourself, but figured we'd give it a try. We each ordered something different and were amazed at the portion sizes, especially for the sandwiches. I had the honey mustard chicken sandwich and feel like it was one of the best honey mustard sauces I've had in a while, not to spicy and not too sweet. My friends also had sandwiches and I was told the buffalo chicken had the perfect amount of spiceyness and the steak sandwich was cooked to their specified rareness. We also had someone in our group order the chicken and rib combo, which was really good and the meat was falling off the ribs, but for $30 it was a little lacking. We went to Cubby's after a massive crave for BBQ food. I'm no expert in "authentic BBQ" food but i do know what my taste buds like and the ribs were AMAZING! Fell right off the bone like it should.
