When I asked about missing items, she stated when things are "abandoned," we put them in the trash. But I never mentioned abandoning items. Are you telling me this company does not attempt to locate the rightful owners? (RED FLAG) Blindine immediately went on the defense when asked about my goods. The more I talked with her, the more she seemed suspicious. I followed Public Storage's outlined resolution for stolen goods; I filed the police report. They have done nothing but go through the motions. I contacted the district manager (Fred Johnson) after several calls and complaints to customer service, he returned my calls. He was polite, but I feel never vested in watching the cameras and gathering information on my loss. This facility is not fully monitored, and Mr. Johnson reported he couldn't find any footage. I requested they contact the renters on the floor that accessed the facility on the day of the loss around that time frame to ask for assistance. He reported that two renters accessed the floor on said day, and staff doing regular floor sweeps ... you make it make sense! It's been nearly a month, and Mr. Johnson has not followed up on my claim. Bottoms line! If it's important, keep it in your possession. Do not feel your stuff is secured based on the area, a gate, and janky cameras. This company is not committed to resolving theft because they profit from other people's property. The cameras are limited and useless. The security gate is constantly malfunctioning. Their app technology is so antiquated that their IT department cannot fix issues. No restrooms are available onsite without a key; good luck finding someone to open the door for you. There are never any moving resources conveniently available to renters. All hand trucks must be exchanged for your license in the main building; staff gives an attitude if they have to get up to open the connecting door to the facility. So they try to make you walk around half the building to access the elevators. Lastly, after months of renting, they will up your contracted monthly fee.

Even though we were paying every month on time for the last four years, they refused to give us one more month with the unit because we refused to sign the contract. Additionally, after returning the unit, my credit card was charged two months in a row, and I had to call the company to get a refund on my credit card. I would recommend the business because the delivery and pickup of the unit was simple. But everything else involved with renting this unit, I don't recommend.

I worked with a different moving company 2 years ago that left me scarred for life with how rude and unprofessional they were. I ended up having to finish the job myself (moving my giant couch up four flights of stairs), so when I knew I was moving again, I did my due diligence and sought out a few quotes. Another company quoted me almost $800 and required a 3 hour minimum for the job!! $800 seemed steep and I knew the job wouldn't take that long... Along came Bookstore Movers who quoted me a reasonable $470 minimum for two hours of work and a maximum of $680 for 3.5 hours of work (price breakdown: $140 per hour with 2 hour min. plus a $190 truck fee). I received a quote within a few hours of requesting it. There was no deposit required and the date was booked. I received detailed emails leading up to the move about FAQs, tips for a seamless move, and the names of my crew including contact info for the crew lead. Abdul (crew lead), Niiwayo "Y.O", and Milly were SO fast and friendly. They wrapped every single item with care in drop cloths and got to moving immediately. Despite the 90 degree heat and a total of five flights of stairs, the job was finished in 2 hours. I was SO impressed. I was so traumatized by my last move that I literally had to walk away while they moved the couch in but before I knew it, I got a text from my boyfriend telling me they had fit it through the door and our living room was all set up. I was so relieved and happy to work with them. If and when we move again, (hopefully not anytime soon, lol), I will 100% be contacting Bookstore Movers... and you should too!

I have been going back and forth and I am fed up. This place is awful and yet it is new, how did they have a messed up roof already resulting in damage and then giving tenants a hard time with paying them out for the damages. Beware of this place thing twice before or you may have to get a lawyer to help you and sue for even more since they don't want to pay out with proof. The black stuff you see in the photos is mice/rat poop some of it is wet and stuck together from the water from their roof. Just disgusting. It's piles and piles of feces. This is truly disgusting.

I had never hired movers before, but my friends and siblings and I are all getting kinda old and broken Not only was the owner super nice and professional and reassuring, but the team that actually showed up at my house on Saturday was SO SWEET! They were polite and courteous and took great care of our stuff, and one of them even took a special interest in my cat because he was a bit distressed but reminded the guy of his own gray tabby We did have a hiccup, where the truck ended up not being big enough, so the guys had to make two trips, but the owner called to apologize and explain the plan, and we gave the team lead a key to both the house and the storage unit, and two of them very quickly grabbed the rest and came back to our new place, while one guy stayed behind to start unwrapping furniture and help my husband move a couple heavy things my body couldn't handle, just to slide them into place and such. They even helped us get a big heavy box out of my mother-in-law's car (not part of the job, obvs) and took a bunch of our unpacking trash with them when they left cuz it was already bagged up but just wouldn't fit in the outside can. Daniel Petra owns 49% of the company; his wife owns 51%. Mr. Petra states on his website "All team members undergo comprehensive background checks and are fully bonded". Following the theft I asked Mr. Petra if his employees were bonded; his reply was that the company was insured but the employees were not bonded. I agree with Johana and TJ P. Daniel sounds like a great guy at the beginning of the process, told me he would be on site at my home to ensure that all went well, and was a no-show. No follow-up from him - he didn't contact me to check on how things went. When I told him about the theft, his response was basically "that's terrible - let me know if I can do anything". Yes, Mr. Petra, you can reimburse me for having to purchase a new vehicle, and you can vette your employees to ensure that you aren't hiring criminals! Petra Moving Company should not be in business. BEWARE! A different company may be more expensive, but you would not have to be concerned about any employees stealing from you. Cheryl H.
