I was a CubeSmart customer for over a year and a half, spending nearly $4,000 on storage. My most recent payment was over $250 on June 13th. I moved out just a few days later, on June 17th, and requested a partial refund since the unit would be completely vacated for the remainder of the billing period. The response? Zero consideration. No flexibility, no gesture of goodwill, nothing. Luis, the on-site staff member, was consistently kind and helpful--this is no reflection on him (hence why I didn't give this one star) The problem lies with management, who clearly have no regard for customer loyalty or fair treatment. To make matters worse, CubeSmart regularly raises their monthly rates without meaningful justification. Their website claims they "take initiative to improve and enhance the customer's experience." That could not be further from the truth. Disappointed is an understatement. I would not recommend CubeSmart to anyone looking for a storage solution that values its customers. read more

Clean and climate controlled space. Relatively affordable. Rent is jacked up $10 per year on average and they do not allow you to use your own personal insurance to cover the locker. There is only one service elevator for this huge space. It is frustrating when you have to hunt it down on multiple floors to return it to the ground floor to load your own items. It being a service elevator, you cannot call it. Absolutely infuriating on updating an expired credit card in their system. read more

We had a loaner car and our keys were locked in our car in NH. We were in a time crunch with only one day to move our daughter in to school and the two gentlemen went above and beyond to help access unit in a pinch. They persevered with a very challenging lock and we were most grateful. read more

They Raise the Rent 2/3 months after you put your belongings in. The gates are always broken. The door is always broken. There is never anyone there from management and literally people live on the storage unit. 2nd floor people live in it. read more

After being a customer for a few years I have to give this location a downgrade because the restroom is never available. In the past one had to ask a staff member to unlock the restroom. But there is no staff member to ask because the Grand Street facility is now serviced by the neighboring Adams Street location. The office counter that was at the entrance has now been walled off, so that staffing change is permanent and not temporary. This would not be a problem if one was in and out quickly. But if one has to spend some time at their locker this is quite uncomfortable. I'll be looking for an alternative site as I speculate that this location may close in the near future. Construction activty in the neighborhood my make it more profitable for the building to be sold to a developer. read more

This place should be half a star, literally no one is ever at this location. I went to their other spot down the road just for packaging paper and they didnt have any there. They told me to check back in 20-30min. Came back an hour later and no one was still there so i waited another 20... no one ever came. read more

Have been a customer for 4 years and was late once (during COVID) due to my credit card number changing. It wasn't a lot of money, but I did ask him to waive the late fee as a gesture of appreciation for being a long term customer. 'He could not do that' because the transaction had already been processed. So I asked for a credit toward the following month rent and he refused. I felt I was being spoken to like an idiot, which I didn't appreciate. Since I'm posting I'll share my thoughts as a 4 year tenant: - it's centrally located, which is nice if you live in uptown - the unit has been fine - nothing special, what you would expect for storage. It has served its purpose well. It's an unfinished warehouse - not like other rental facilities I've used. Maybe dingier / dirtier - Other comments about rent increases occurring frequently are consistent with my experience. They either raise it or try to raise it every 6 months. - The 'manual' elevator is annoying. You have to walk up the steps and find it/ bring it back down to the first floor if someone else has used it to access the second of third floor. They really need to upgrade it - The stairway always smells like pee - Have had a couple of sketchy experiences after dark over the years, only one where I felt unsafe. Otherwise no issues I wouldn't say don't rent here, but I would recommend you understand the frequency of rent increases and have them write into the contract how often they are able to raise rent, and by how much. Also shop it around - there's plenty of other places and I'm guessing the exodus from Hoboken will result in more competition. read more

I don't know how the hiring process is here but the rudest staff member Ask a question and sounded like you was bugging him asking questions and isn't he supposed to have customers service he wasn't busy just in his phone I guess I was interrupting something more important then shuts the door smh unacceptable rude ass hell. read more

I rented here for about a year. Overall, a pretty solid option and probably the most cost effective in Hoboken. The Pros -It's cheaper than most in Hoboken -It's all climate controlled -The guys at the front desk know what they're doing -Fairly good parking for loading and unloading -Enough carts (when people bring them back down) -Automatic Billing The Cons -Get an internet deal, expect a rent increase within a couple months. You'll just get something in the mail. -The elevator is a bit of a pain, if someone leaves it up on a floor you have to go get it and bring it down. Which isn't terribly great if someone comes and gets it while you are on the 3rd floor loading stuff. -If you have a locker on the very top the ladders are down right dangerous/terrifying. The brake doesn't work, they aren't level and I've damn near toppled down 15 feet several times. I really think they need to get new and safer ladders. This is my biggest complaint about the place. read more

If I could put "0" start on this company I would. Total disrespect and humiliation. I stopped by at their facility in Miami Beach looking for storage. Nobody would open the gate for 25 minutes. Than slow walking very relaxed guy shows up, he would not show me the unit claiming its by appointment only (insane) I called the company and complained. Made an appointment for next day but guess what, the same guy (front desk attendant) was upset at me complaining to his superiors and he did NOT let me in although I had an appointment. I guess clerks are running the shaw at their own will in this company. No structure not service , just a horrible company. I rented another company storage without appointment and for less money. Highly recommend to stay away from these guys. I have never been more humiliated in my life. read more

I had to change storage units because I had an absolutely terrible experience with my previous One! Luckily when I moved to Cube smart, it's been really great so far! The customer service has been wonderful. It's very convenient, they place your shipment in your unit for you every time. Also I lost my key and both Brendan and Konstantine have always been super helpful! They are always kind, organized, and attentive to their customers. One time my coworker accidentally had boxes shipped to my unit, Brendan was really helpful and he moved them from my unit to hers right away. I would definitely recommend this unit. read more

Angela and Julie are two of the nicest reps for a company that I've ever come across. I set up rental of a storage space at CubeSmart from across the country, and their response time and willingness to answer all of my stupid questions was amazing. CubeSmart is unique in that they accept mail for you from all the major carriers, and help place all of it in your storage unit. Nobody else I contacted would do this in any kind of consistent manner. Usually very clean and air conditioned. Easy access by truck via their loading dock. 5 star service. Highly recommended. Storage can become your worst nightmare. Overpriced and ruthless, most facilities in the NYC area will lock you out if you're 5 days late on the monthly vig, tack on exorbitant late fees and generally make it impossible to ever get back in without paying the proverbial arm and a leg. Not here. Konstantin, the manager, is a genuinely nice guy who will work with you. The place is clean and safe. No frills but gets the job done. Its rates are far more reasonable than Manhattan and you can get here in 20 minutes with a zip car. Parking is easy. After wasting thousands of dollars at Manhattan Mini Storage, sorry I didn't discover CubeSmart Hoboken sooner. read more
