I have been their customer for two years, lately they have been very rude and terrible. I got boxes delivered, they called and said that if the boxes won't be picked up and put to the unit within 48 hr THEY WILL SHIP THEM BACK TO THE SENDER, I'm out of the state and they want me to physically be at the location to pickup my packages in 48 hours, apparently its their "new" policy. I have no one in that state to go and pick up the boxes while I'm not there, just an additional stress to your already stressful life, any mail receivers wait two weeks before taking actions on the old packaging, these guys can't wait a week. I didnt want to write this review but upon arrival to collect my boxes as I'm skinny and short female, asked for help to load my cart as the boxes are very heavy, the reply from the guy I asked for help was "I'm actually busy here" .... :/ read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. We just moved out of our unit today after finding out yesterday that our storage unit had been ROBBED! The only reason we found out is because we were alerted that our stolen merchandise was being sold online. Cubesmart says they have cameras but it's a JOKE they have one small camera that faces only 1 elevator- there are no additional cameras facing the hallways or any of the actual units. Additionally through one of the phone numbers of the person selling our stuff we found out it was inside job and they were a cubesmart customer. The Cubesmart employees working did nothing to help us and even made us buy new locks over night since we couldn't come back until the next day to move, how insane after what had happened!! Completely disgusting awful horrible experience here I've never experienced anything like this in my life. We've been there for over a year and this is after we already had 4 rate increases in a year then had our belongings stolen. This location deserves to be shut down and investigated themselves. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! The location and price attracted me, but the customer service hooked me. They were always friendly - and not in an overly phony way - just genuinely friendly. Always welcoming, greeting, and helpful - from what I'm assuming was the front desk managers, to regular front desk workers, to the guy who drives the van (I would always see him and he always very nice). I wish I could remember their names! I'm horrible with names. The place was ALWAYS clean!!!!! No odors, bugs, or rodents - not in my storage unit nor the facility itself. The washroom was always clean, as well. Also, the fact that there are 3 bus lines (on both ends of the block) that took me directly to the subway lines I needed was a plus for me. I was able to grab things and quickly run to work. I felt secure knowing my personal items were safe and well-protected since the facility is temperature controlled. I was never freezing when I went to my unit in the dead of Winter, nor too hot when I went in the Summer. I no longer need the unit, plus need to save money through this pandemic. Storing my items here made my life easier and comfortable during the time I needed it the most. However, if I ever need storage again I will DEFINITELY go to and HIGHLY RECOMMEND CubeSmart. Plus, the advertisement and brand is very catchy. I'm a visual personal and like red so what can I say - lol - it drew me. I'm so glad I did business here. This place is a dump!! My husband signed us up for a unit here not knowing the type of people who come to this place. Upon bringing some stuff to our storage over the weekend we approach our floor and the lights turn on. They have a automatic sensor light - while putting things away and organizing our unit we are approached by two men - who we did not hear come up the elevator who were probably squatting in an empty cube - asking if we are using the one of many ladders on the floor. After we explained that "Yes,we are using this ladder" hence my husband standing on it, one man became getting hostile saying he will fight us & to shut our F**** mouths and that he knows how to fight. The other gentleman he was with, kept staring at us and did not move. I told him to please move and give us space. I feel like he was staring to see what our unit number was. I did not feel safe & now I do not feel safe having my stuff there. After we had put our stuff away we went downstairs to report the issue and WOW - the customer service I received was horrid. One worker claimed "I am tired of dealing with all of this S*** they do not pay me enough to deal with this" as if this happens often - red flag. The other worker Alba who was there was just clueless to life. She was absolutely no help. She had no idea how the cameras worked. No idea about anything. She claimed she called the General Manager but was busy texting and going in the back to hide. Then claims he won't be in until Tuesday - this happened Sunday. In a situation like this where there is a safety concern - had my husband not been there - who knows what could have happened? You would think a manager would reach out to me. NO. I will be moving my stuff from this place & going elsewhere. They do not care about your safety of belongings here. There is no real security at all. There is a huge homeless situation here as a previous reviewer mentioned. I would not be surprised if lockers are stolen from often here. I will take my business back to Manhattan Mini Storage where they actually care for you and your safety and the facility is clean. Not to mention - while waiting for the cops there were two junkies in the office talking on their phones loud about renting a storage - clearly they were homeless. This place is a literal dump. Hire real security and better staff!! read more

I don't know what more you could ask for! Every bit of my cubesmart experience has been excellent! The price is unbeatable if you book through the website. The manager Rita is super helpful and friendly. She set me up with my unit and helped me schedule a free valet to move in and actually made it a fun experience! It didn't end there though, JC the valet driver picked me up, helped with all my stuff, and was also incredibly helpful and fun to ride with back to the unit. I really can't say enough good things about the experience. Highly highly recommend going with this location if you're on the fence. Couldn't ask for more. I reserved a storage unit with them online. The website doesn't tell you where the unit is (top, middle, bottom) so when I talked to them on the phone and found out I was on a top unit which requires a moving staircase to access, I asked if I could switch to a bottom unit. The manager refused to let me switch it to a bottom unit over the phone and that I had to come in person. This makes no sense to me since I was able to so easily book a unit online and when I mentioned this, he insisted I had to go in person to do so. Seems very odd and not customer service oriented so I'm going to go with manhattan mini storage instead. read more

I moved so I switched to cubesmart from extraspace because it was closer. I am in and out of my storage locker very often because I keep my work supplies here. They will not take your broken down cardboard boxes at this location. They said it would be an extra charge! As if these lockers aren't expensive enough. Extraspace never charged me for asking to throw away any cardboard or trash bags. Now I have to walk home with all these boxes just to throw them away. Also, everytime I go up to my locker there is trash all over the hallway. I have complained a few times but they don't know who it is because they dont have cameras by the storage lockers. Obviously some of their customers dont want to pay the fee or walk home with their garbage so they just leave it on the floor. With so many price increases since I have gotten here, you would think they would just filter in a charge to take your empty boxes for you. I will most likely keep renting until I move out of this apartment, but I will absolutely be going back to extra space when I move. read more

Best storage place we have ever used. The staff is so helpful and nice no matter what comes up. It's extremely safe, clean, and secure. It's comfortable and easy if you just have to pop in or spend several hours there. They are really helpful if you want to change units and truly come across as there to help. The location is excellent. The prices are normal for a midtown accessible unit that in a place that is super safe and nice to visit. I just take one star off because one of the attendants when he was helping me at my unit kept trying to sell me on his private van moving services-asking how much I paid for TaskRabbit and that he would give me a better deal- it was just too invasive and too much when I was concentrating on really important moving details and actually wasn't that much of a better deal and I didn't know if Cubesmart was ok with him selling private services to customers-esp since I like my TaskRabbit guy and wasn't looking to be sold something while I was in the middle of a move. Other than that, I like Cubesmart so much that I need to move my unit out of the city and I was able to do that over the phone with no issues and she found me the best price. read more

The staff are extremely accommodating and super helpful. The day I moved in, JC contacted me and helped me moved my boxes into the van although he didn't need to. When I got there, the elevator was broken so they had movers come and help place my items into the storage unit, Ronnie and his brother. Everyone was super sweet too, and just overall very good service. I'd definitely recommend them to my family and friends. And after I moved in, JC offered to drive me back to my old apartment! It was scorching hot and I was gonna walk the 30 blocks to my apt but he insisted on taking me. :) Love the staff! read more

I would like to acknowledge and bring forward several issues I encountered while speaking and being a customer at CubeSmart. The particular issues I encountered pertain to the CubeSmart office with the address 444 West 55th Street, New York, NY, 10019. In my search for a storage facility, I found CubeSmart and immediately called and spoke to their customer service on the phone. Their phone customer service was extremely helpful and I do not have any qualms about their level of professionalism. I gladly booked my appointment, and prepared to have my items stored. However, upon speaking to the particular manager of this CubeSmart, DeNisha Heppard, I was left absolutely disgusted. Before even arriving at the space, I called to confirm all the information that I needed to know in preparation for when I would move in my items. Not only was Ms. Heppard incredibly rude on the phone, but she failed to give me a series of vital information. On the phone, I specifically asked if I had to bring anything to the space (such as an ID, a lock, etc.). She proceeded to say that everything was included in the price of the space, and that all I was required to do was come a few days prior to moving in to sign the lease. Additionally, when first purchasing the space through a phone call, I was told that a moving van was included in the price to help move items when moving out and moving back in, a promise that led me to choose CubeSmart over other competitors in the first place. Upon arriving at the space to sign the lease, I met Ms. Heppard at the front desk and was taken aback at how blatantly rude she was, and how little regard she seemed to have for customer service. She spoke in a manner that portrayed how disinterested she was in answering my questions and refused to even engage in casual pleasantries. She acted like every question I asked her was an enormous hassle to answer and looked like she really despised being there and engaging with customers. After seeing the space and looking at the lease, she told me that I had to buy a lock from the CubeSmart facility, because I didn't bring one of my own. This came as a shock to me, as I had asked before if I needed one and they said it was included. I was frustrated at this point, but went along with what she was asking for and purchased a CubeSmart lock. However, when asking Ms. Heppard about the logistics of booking the van service for pick up, she just casually said that the van service would not be available for the foreseeable future. The van service is a completely included service, so CubeSmart should compensate their customers for making alternative plans or arrange a different service. CubeSmart can definitely not expect to charge the same price and only deliver on half of their promises. Although I understand that some problems may have arisen in between the time I booked my reservation at the facility up until my interaction with Ms. Heppard, I must say that I found my experience at CubeSmart to be absolutely unacceptable. Furthermore, what was potentially the most unacceptable in my experience was the way I was treated by Ms. Heppard and the way she handled the situation. When questioning Ms. Heppard about the situation and looking for alternate methods of transportation, not only did she fail to respond professionally, but instead chose to raise her voice at me, began yelling that I "just had to deal with it" and that if they didn't offer the van service then I would have to get a car instead. This claim is absolutely unreasonable, and her treatment as a manager was absolutely appalling. When asking Ms. Heppard why CubeSmart didn't call their customers to inform them that the van was not available and that they had to make other arrangements, Ms. Heppard simply claimed that it was "not her problem to deal with." I called CubeSmart again a few days before I was going to pick up my belongings and spoke to Ms. Heppard again; I asked about the van availability and she said that the van would be available for assisting me in transporting my belongings to my new residence. When arriving at the space and asking about the van, Ms. Heppard simply said that the van wasn't available for dropping off items, and that I would have to find my own way to transport my items. To Summarize: I had to purchase a lock that I was told was included ($14.14) I had to make other arrangements for transportation after falsely being told that the van would be available for moving into the space ($45.64) The same van situation occurred while moving out, causing an extra charge ($29.10) In total, I incurred charges of $151.53 for a service that was supposed to cost $62.65, as well as being treated appallingly by Ms. Heppard. read more

Guys are lifesavers. Not only I use them for a business purposes (our company ships and accepts returns thru this facility), but I also store some of the packages with these guys. Alba and Rita are amazing and always helpful, but don't get me wrong - the whole team does a great job and always make an extra effort to accommodate. I chose them over MMS for several reasons and never thought of other competitors. YMMV with different spots, but THIS location is amazing. Hours works great for me and they are not far away from the subway and other commute spots. And PRICE. Lord, they're so great when it comes to the price. I forgot about all issues with stolen packages and asking neighbor to sign for a package - worth it! Keep up with the great work, guys! Such a gem in this city. read more

So although our planned pick-up time was over an hour late (NYC during rush hour near the Tunnel) - I still give 5 stars! When the clean, air-conditioned, 5-seater van arrived driven by Juan Carlos (JC) - we were so happy! Juan helped my husband quickly move our things to the van and had a cool and fast trip to our unit. JC helped my husband unload and move things in while I took care of the paperwork. Jordan Johnson was amazing, efficient and so friendly. It was a pleasure to deal with him during the payment process. The overall experience was EXCELLENT and we left smiling! Wow!!! What a great experience I had at this location. I went in a week earlier to look at the available storage units they were advertising on special. I met with Kim and she was so pleasant patient and answer all my questions and concerns. When I was ready to sign I came back a week later and met (last name) Escobar (female) customer rep and she as well was pleasant personable and quite funny. She also took her time offered water and again very informative as to the storage units. I scheduled the free pick up and met JC (Juan Carlos)... OMG the nicest gentleman I met. I was hoping I got him from the previous reviews I read about him. He was so helpful and so hands on. He helped me unpack took the items upstairs and even help me organize (he didn't have to do all that) but he knows when anyone is moving it could be very stressful, he was actually a great incentive to the CubeSmart experience. To be honest I was worried about dealing with any storage facilities but I really had a great experience with them and everyone I encountered. read more
