Rented a unit in VA, everything started out ok. After a year of using one of their units, my price when up for no reason when i never missed a payment. When I no longer had use for the unit, I was told by one of the clerks I couldnt use the dumpster that was on the property because it was for employees only. So please explain to me how someone supposed to clean out their storage unit, when they have no where to dispose of their trash? I dont own a truck nor did they have one for customers to use, so i just let the unit go. I am now getting a final bill stating I owe them almost $800 more than what i was normally paying. Had i been able to use the dumpster that should be for customer use, i dont think my final bill would have even been close to this amount. I realize now this was an easy way for them to over charge you for "cleaning" purposes. As a veteran I will never use them again. On top of that the storage doors are so old, that they constantly go off the rails which if not paying attention you will assume your storage is locked when its not. read more

My property was stolen here (primarily electronics and other personal effects) We used the lock recommended by the facility and purchased their insurance. However, one day we came and most of our stuff had been removed from our storage space without the lock being broken. We had a corner unit so it could have possibly been accessed from the side panel but of course, there is no indoor surveillance at this facility. Since there was no "forced entry" the insurance informed us that they would deny any claim made regardless of the police report obtained etc. Cubesmart basically did nothing and said we signed their contract so they aren't liable. A large keyboard was stolen that could have easily been identified (and who took it) if they just reviewed their outdoor surveillance but no effort was made to do that. This was so distressing and disheartening that you trust them to protect your things and this happens with no compensation for your loss from the insurance nor the facility. It leads us to believe that this was an inside job and they got away with it. I would not recommend anyone to store their belongings here. read more

Very quick and easy experience with CubeSmart! Very good customer service and a genuinely nice guy showed me to me storage block, showed us how to use the lift, and got us on our way fairly quickly. If you don't want to spend $15 on a lock bring your own, that's the only downside. Pretty good prices for the area! I think the gentleman who helped us was Jerry! Real nice guy! read more

This is my first and only Yelp review that I have ever posted. I am inclined to share because I feel disrespected and unvalued as a customer of Cubesmart. I was a loyal customer for over a year with no issues whatsoever. I am a single, working woman who travels a lot for my job. During a chaotic time in my life, I missed two of my monthly payments (my fault, I know). However, after realizing I had missed my July and August payments, I emailed, called multiple times and even left a voicemail requesting a returned phone call so that I could pay for my missed payments. I NEVER received a follow up and it wasn't until two weeks later that I found out ALL of my personal belongings had been auctioned off. Five days AFTER I reached out to cubesmart, they sold my space with no attempt to call me back. My unit was worth 40x more than what was owed, not to mention I lost a plethora of extremely personal belongings that can never be replaced. I understand that I was at fault for missing a couple of payments, but I was a responsible customer for over one year and do not feel I was given proper notice or respect for my personal belongings before selling it off. After speaking with the General Manager, Bill and District Manager, Yasar Khan for the past few weeks on this situation, they knew they dropped the ball by not returning my phone call since they have my voicemail, dated, and requesting to make my payments; however, nothing but an "oops, I'm sorry" has been done. I do not live near the location where my property was stored. Once your payment is late, you cannot make a payment over the phone, so the only options are in person (not a possibility for me) or a phone call. If I cannot rely on a Cubesmart employee to call me back to make my payment, then I am out of luck. I am not the type to make these extensive complaints, but as an advocate of the customer service industry, I understand proper treatment and the value of your customers' trust. Cubesmart failed to meet their claim of "#1 in customer service" for storage facilities. Unprofessional, greedy, and not willing to step up, take blame, and make it right for a (former) loyal customer. read more
