We enjoyed this nice little spot in North Carolina for some good Latin Food. My Husband picked up our dinner. He said the restaurant was a good vibe with friendly service. We both had the Pork Chunks with pigeon peas rice, side salad and pupusa. So flavorful and delicious. Loved the garlic sauce. We recommend this location for some good Hispanic Food

Traditional Salvadorean Breakfast- Sweet Fried Plantains, Scrambled eggs, refried beans, fresh cheese, avocado and Tortillas

I came for breakfast, when they opened and found to be the only customer on a Tuesday morning which was great. The waitress was not inviting at all but when I approached her she did her job. The location of the restaurant looks a bit shady so I was a bit skeptical at first. Though, I love the variety of the menu a mix of Salvadorean, Mexican and Dominican! I was in search of a traditional Salvadorean Breakfast- Fried Sweet Plantains, scrambled eggs, refried beans, Salvadorean fresh cheese with a side of avocado and tortilla with coffee! I found it right here! Location not great! Service could be better! Food Great! I will definitely be back but bright and early to avoid the crowd.

The food here is very good! The Papusas are the best I've had so far. The environment makes me feel like actually in El Salvador or possibly Mexico. Often the family owned smaller restaurants are always the best. The restaurant is kept very clean which is another plus. All the staff wear masks.

This place always hits the spot! I think I've tried almost everything here. We love the pupusas and the horchata! It's a staple in our house. They are prompt with timing and when we pick it up still piping hot. The prices are good and they deliver a friendly face when we go in. This time around we got the tamales as well and it was amazing, taste like home. Didn't get a picture of that cause I ate it so fast lol definitely check them out!

I don't know why this place doesn't have more reviews. Maybe not many people are into Salvadorian or Dominican food in this area but you are missing out! Went back today and we shared some fried pork chunks (chicharron), mangu, Dominican rice and beans, papusas and tostones. The food was freshly prepared to order and was just as good as the last time! The food and the salsas are amazing. Please give this place a try!

I only go for the pupusas. They are really good. I do take out so I'm not sure their in person service is.

The food was amazing. The pupusas were out of this world and the horchata too. This place is a hidden gem.

The popusas are good but the waitress or lady taking orders are rude and they are on their phones.

Best pupusas in Winston-Salem hands down. Also they throw down when they make Mangu with the tres golpes.

The staff weee awesome and even brought us the homemade hot sauce (delicious by the way). Their chips for the chips and salsa are obviously homemade. Had to resist not gorging on those. I got a pork chop with rice and beans and fried plantains. The pork chop was fine but it was completely overshadowed by the rice and beans which were overstuffed by the plantains. This was just a delicious meal. The place has a wide variety of seating options for almost any size group. We also noticed they seem to do a brisk takeout business as well. If you're around or even passing through this is a must try.

I love places that let one channel their inner Anthony Bourdain right here close to home. The cuisine is primarily Salvadoran with some Mexican-influenced dishes as well. No disputing the authenticity of the food; this is not a chain. The service was fast and friendly, although it did take a short while for the meal to be delivered. El Carbonero is quite casual, this is not a fancy spot. There were families and workers enjoying their freshly made pupusas. They only take cash, so be prepared. Get outside your comfort zone (perhaps) and definitely give this spot a try. Estarás gratamente sorprendido :)

The inside is cozy and on the smaller side but so cute. We started with the buratta appetizer which came with focaccia and pesto which was all amazing. The pesto had a great garlic flavor and the bread was lightly toasted. For an entree, I had the Moroccan couscous with crispy chickpeas and even though the picture might look a little weird, I can assure you it was delicious. The chickpeas were really crispy as promised and the flavor was delicious. It was well seasoned and the sauces were so good. The green one was a mint parsley I think and the orange was my favorite - red pepper tahini. My only complaint would be that I want more of the sauce because it was so good. I really enjoyed & I appreciated that they had this vegan option. They have tons of wine & the cocktail menu is also great. The waiter was super friendly and quick. I ordered a cocktail with vodka instead of tequila which wasn't a problem at all. I tried a few of the cocktails and they were all really good and perfectly described on the menu. I really enjoyed everything here and can't wait to go back!
