Maybe some of the menu is as good as Cucina Antica seems to think it is, but we tried a couple of basics and were disappointed. The bland pizza dough might have been recently defrosted. The pasta was fresh, but clumpy. The meatballs were large and boring. The sauce was based on uncooked tomatoes, but insufficiently spiced (and probably should have been stirred more frequently). One of the two parties of friends we saw there recommended the Nutella cake. It might have been yummy warm; fresh from the fridge left us cold, and didn't really taste like Nutella. The cook stopped by to check in, and we gave him thumbs up. When he'd gone, my eight-year-old companion said, "It's good but not great." That's all you need to know.

Chef William has created a fun family place with delicious homey Italian cuisine. Casual and cosey, with local beer on tap, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Pizzas baked with their own in-house crust, plus a whole wheat crust option. Good ravioli specials. And the wait staff is very friendly.

Alfredo doesn't have much flavor. Hours are basic. Add some seasoning to basically everything and it will be good.

I have read that the service can be slow. That is to be expected if your food is being prepared to order. Lasagna? Amazing! My favorite and first entrée I ever ordered is Linguine Alle Pescatore. Yum! Prices, in today's dollars, are reasonable and comparable (less, even) to a couple of Italian restaurants in downtown Burlington. Go here!

The ambience was nothing to talk bout, but it was a snowy Tuesday night so you can't expect much. A bit dark and cold, like a Nonna's basement. Service was great: prompt, polite and attentive. The food was the problem. Caesar salad was great, no complaints there. My wife got a Pinot Grigio that was meh, but at $9 a glass, it was expected. I ordered a Pappardelle bolognese, and it was a disaster. The noodles were good, the bolognese was murder; too much of it, so much it was dry, it was quite frankly off-putting, looked like dog food. I tried eating it so I picked at only the noodles but I just couldn't, it didn't taste right. I should've taken a picture, I just didn't want to be rude, and I don't send food back. My wife got a Mushroom Risotto and it was plain and a bit 'al dente. I ended up eating that with her and even so we ate about half the portion. Portions however were huge! If other dishes are better presented and/or better tasting, you are getting more than your money's worth, alas, it was not so for the dishes we picked.

My partner and I had ample time to read, ponder, and ponder again. We came to the conclusion that Folino's wields the poem as a sort of psychological weapon. We ordered two small pizzas. We were told they would take 15 to 20 minutes to make. Folino's was not busy. When the 20 minute mark hit, we looked around, and I pointed out to my partner that it looked like two pizzas had just gone into the oven. We read the poem again. At the 30 minute mark, when the two pizzas came out, I got a look at them, and they looked like exactly what we had ordered. I smiled, glad to be filling my growling belly soon, and read the poem one last time. Wendell Berry urged "peace." I waited for the cashier to call our name. Another ten minutes passed. Workers laughed with each other, and more pizzas went into the oven. I gathered my shame -- Wendell Berry says worries are unnatural things! -- and asked the cashier for an update on our order. She told us they were working on it. I read the poem again. Imagine our surprise when, one full hour after we'd placed our order, the cashier walked to the *original* two pizzas we'd seen go into the oven, and finally call our name. They'd been sitting on the counter for 30 minutes, enjoying their own "peace." Does Folino's think reminding us that wild animals would gladly eat cold pizza is going to convince us their service is good? That it's the natural state of the world? Hire some adult humans, next time, maybe. This is a restaurant, not the wilderness!

It was good tho, nice garlic taste and covered with cheese. We also started with the Caesar salad which was really good. There were 5 of us and we split 2. Lots of cheese, the croutons tasted homemade, and the dressing was tasty. For my entree I got the vodka pasta and added chicken. I honestly was disappointed in the vodka sauce, it didn't have much flavor. I also thought the portion was small, if I didn't add the chicken I still would've been hungry after finishing. Although, the crispy chicken I did add was delicious. I'm glad we finally tried it here, but not sure I'll be back.

Initially, we were seated outside, which looked charming, but it was an incredibly hot day. Thankfully, our waitress was very kind and accommodating and moved us to a table inside without any issue. My partner started with a cocktail called the Queen of Hearts. It looked beautiful and he said it was refreshing and well balanced. I went for their house-made unsweetened iced tea and it was exactly what I needed on such a warm evening. It had a clean taste and was served cold, which really hit the spot. To start, we shared the arugula salad. It was light and fresh with a peppery kick, and the ingredients tasted high quality. For our main course, we split the Roma pizza. The crust was thin and crispy, and the toppings were flavorful without being overwhelming. It was more than enough for the two of us and left us both satisfied. The ambiance inside the restaurant was cozy and stylish, with warm lighting and a welcoming atmosphere. Everything felt clean and well maintained. Service throughout the night was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and the overall vibe of the place. Pascolo Ristorante delivered on flavor, service, and atmosphere. Would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a nice dinner spot in the area.

It didn't take long to identify the state's core competencies: Producing world-class cheese Perfecting brick oven pizza Aggressively curating a very specific political vibe Curiously, only two of those things are edible, and unfortunately, you can't get pizza without being reminded of the third. Also worth noting: I'm not convinced any other style of pizza exists in Vermont. If it's not artisanal, wood-fired, and served on a reclaimed barn board, it apparently doesn't make the cut. So naturally, my brain locked in and I ate pizza two nights in a row like a creature of habit. Night 1: Pizzeria Verità Parking was...aspirationally convenient. After navigating downtown Burlington, which feels like a live-action sociology thesis, I made it inside. Let's address the elephant in the room: the price. With tip, I dropped nearly $30 for what amounted to a personal-sized pepperoni pizza that politely declined to fill me up. I assume part of the cost goes toward sourcing ethically massaged tomatoes or ensuring the mozzarella had a fulfilling upbringing. Now, to be fair, the pizza was excellent. Truly. Great crust, quality ingredients, clearly crafted by someone who cares deeply about their art. But the value? That's where things get a little...Vermont. Delicious? Absolutely. Filling? Not quite. Financially efficient? Only if you measure wealth in vibes. I went in skeptical, left impressed, and still had to consider a second dinner.
