Cucina Antica is a family favorite and I'm always excited to visit. Their specialty pizzas are fantastic. My wife and I also love the entree menu, which tends to see seasonal modifications to utilize fresh regional ingredients. The owner Mike on Christmas Eve was willing to fire the ovens back up after they closed, for me. That is above and beyond the level of service making any place worth while. Anyone with that caliber of service HAS to have a great product, so my man called me back after hours on Christmas eve, and re-opened his restaurant for us when everyone else was closed. The food was awesome, he even made a custom onion concoction of fried breaded onions which were excellent. The food is 4-5. Pizzas are great, the rest of the dishes are good - the dolmas are quite nice. I just hate the atmosphere. It's not relaxing -- the food is not "fast diner style" but the dining area is small and all the pizza pick up people walk all the way thru the middle of the dining area. Maybe some of the menu is as good as Cucina Antica seems to think it is, but we tried a couple of basics and were disappointed. The bland pizza dough might have been recently defrosted. The pasta was fresh, but clumpy. The meatballs were large and boring. The sauce was based on uncooked tomatoes, but insufficiently spiced (and probably should have been stirred more frequently). One of the two parties of friends we saw there recommended the Nutella cake. It might have been yummy warm; fresh from the fridge left us cold, and didn't really taste like Nutella. The cook stopped by to check in, and we gave him thumbs up. When he'd gone, my eight-year-old companion said, "It's good but not great." That's all you need to know. read more

Very disappointing food but very friendly staff. Meal started with garlic knots that were burnt on the bottom. My meatball sandwich was dry and bland, my wife's eggplant parm was the same. The atmosphere was ok but the men's toilet was broken and there weren't any paper towels. The music cut off in the middle of our meal and then we could hear every conversation around us. Overall a very mediocre experience. Our bill with tip was over $70 and there are so many better options for dinner in that price range. read more

After our original food plans were disrupted by the lack of ability to use our debit cards and no clear options for ATM, we arrived here after a little help from yelp. The waitress was nice, polite but seemed a little timid and talked quietly. This didn't bother us much, I actually enjoy someone a bit different from the usual. It's what makes the experience of eating out nicer and more unique. She brought us some warm bread, it was perfectly soft in the inside, crisp outside. Instead of butter, they have oil to dip the bread in.The bread plus oil dressing was a yummy change from the bread and butter combo. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would! I got chicken parmesan, while my husband got a meatball calzone and his parents ordered a pizza. Once all the food arrived, we admired the beauty of this pizza. It was perfect and tasty. we decided to order one to go that was more to our liking. Apparently this idea is a very common one. People were coming and going with pizzas plus more every few minutes! Everyone was delighted with their food, my husband had me try a bite of his calzone and man, it was ideal. The cheese tasted amazing. Cucina has been around for many years. We used go there for lunch but they stopped that a few years ago. We went there for dinner once in a while however it probably has been over a year since we had gone there. We tried to dine there on a Wednesday but the place was packed and some people were waiting. Since they open at four we decided to head there after doing some errands on Sunday, we were first to arrive and were met by a lovely young lady who told us we could pick our table. While we checked out the menu there was a constant parade of people who came in to pick up their pizzas. Soon there were lots of parents with their kids and a couple of sets of grandparents with their grand kids. The food was excellent and I would say reasonable after having recently dined at the new Italian on Church St. I had the Greek appetizer plate with lamb. Plenty to eat on that plate, spanakopita, Greek salad, pita bread and Greek yogurt. The lamb was not chunks of lamb Kabob (that was my expectation) . It was chunks of lamb all right, but lamb that had been ground fine, salted and spiced cooked and then cut into squars! The lamb was a little salty for me. My husbad's dish was visually pleasing and very tasty, chicken Alfredo with what looked like sun dried tomatoes. Plenty of chicken and pasta. The bread was delicious and plentiful. read more

Came here on a recommendation from a good family friend. Thank goodness we listened!! LOVED IT. Great for a date night!!! Hesitant to even give it such a good review because I want to keep it a secret, but that isn't fair to them at all. I had the homemade linguine with scallops... there were also fresh grape tomatoes and capers in the pasta. It was perfectly garlicky and yummy. Portions are not too big and not too small. I finished and was full, but not overly so. My companion got the surf and turf special... filet mignon and a giant scallop on top with fiddleheads and scalloped potatoes. Had some of everything... all cooked very well (and the meat as requested). The prices are moderate, but the quality of the food is really high so I considered it a really good deal. Our waitress was really nice and gave us the perfect amount of attention and answered our questions. It is really upscale food but you can tell that everyone is welcome (there were simultaneously two groups of 8-10 people in this small restaurant! Lots of kids but not a problem). There is even a special area for kids with 3 chalkboard walls to keep busy at so they don't get bored. We NEVER get dessert, and here, we got TWO. Myself, a cannoli (can't go wrong) and my companion the salted caramel cake. OH MAN. I want that every day of my life, but I'm glad I can't have it. Almost forgot! Cucina should be one of your go-to pizza places in the area. It differs from some of the other pizza places by having a 'breadier' crust and lots of variation in toppings. I recommend the Atticus and Camels Hump. Although we typically just order pizza here, they also have many other plates to choose from. Consistently great service and great food. read more

Pretty good food, but an odd menu. I came in hankering for a Bolognese; they offer a Shrimp Bolognese (that doesn't even make any SENSE), or a mix-and-match your own pasta with a Sausage Bolognese. That was just on the wrong side of traditional for me, so I went with a different classic, Eggplant Parm, and I give it a high thumbs-up. The eggplant came sliced in big, thick slabs, which gives it a nice high eggplant:fried ratio; when the eggplant is sliced too thin, it tastes like fried nothing, which I know is some people's cup of tea, but not mine. The fettucini pasta seemed fresh; the amount of mozzarella was perfect (I don't like a big cheesefest in my plate); but the tomato sauce was pretty bland. I asked for some parmesan to doctor it up, but the harsh grated cheese on offer seems to be romano (not a fan). There's also an awful lot of feta on the menu (again, not a fan). Husband made a mix-and-match of gnocchi and pesto, which was good, but too heavy & salty a dish to finish in one sitting. I ate all of my eggplant & 90% of my pasta, so there is high praise for you. Beer and wine, but no liquor. We chose to sit at the bar; there were two silent TV's, no full-time bartender, and very warm seating (nice in very early March) by the mostly open kitchen. Dear Management, First impression. No host. No sign. No idea where to sit or stand. When the two of us were sat, we received room temperature water while everyone else had ice water. This day was extremely hot and goes without say that we need ice to cool down. After I requested ice, our waitress never brought it. I had to stand up, go to the bar and ask for ice. She didn't have any behind the bar. This person then continued to make multiple faults. She reached in the ice maker with the glass she was serving me, and scooped that glass to then serve me ice. High expectations on the menu. It was what drew us to the place after all. Again, failed to make anything taste good with simple ingredients. I ordered the chicken parm. A classic dish that most people would order to have as feel good food also failed miserably. The breading came right off, followed by overcooked pasta and sauce that appeared to come straight out the can. While ordering the menu our waitress knew absolutely nothing about the wine or what to recommend. It would have been accepted had she told us what other order frequently. To top it all off, we had to ask someone else besides our waitress for our bill. We never saw the waitress again unless our hand was on the door. I cant imagine eating here again. read more

From the authentic menu options, to the warm and friendly staff, to the delicious food our experience was outstanding! There is one other review directed at the management. I also want to get your attention about your staff and our terrible experience. It was a summer Friday and my wife and I were in the mood to spend ~$120 on dinner and wine. We have been to Cucina many times and have enjoyed the food, not great but a nice meal. The dining area was full so we decided to sit at the bar; boring but acceptable. Some people were eating at the bar so we figured we would get a meal and have a chat. The night never really started. The waitstaff was rude and unprofessional. For the 15 mins that we could tolerate it we played "will she make eye contact?" None of the waitstaff would look at us or acknowledge that we were there. They had time and were occasionally chatting at the back of the bar but would not look our way when they left the station. The staff simply did not want another customer. We finally left and had a wonderful meal with better atmosphere at the Bearded Frog. The Frog used to be our second choice in town behind Cucina, now it is the first. I can only imagine the owners were away that night. Due to this experience we have found other options for dinner. I can only hope that the owners work to improve service. read more

Cucina is awesome! I went on a Saturday evening with a party of 7. Every single one of us raved about our meals. I had the flank steak over mushroom ravioli and mushroom sauce. The steak was tender and well seasoned. I ordered rare and to my delight it was perfect. The ravioli was bursting with mushroom flavor. To top off the steak and ravioli was a decadent mushroom sauce and quartered cherry tomatoes. If you are a steak and mushroom fan this dish is for you. My daughter had the lobster ravioli. It was a generous portion so she will enjoy a second meal of what she proclaimed as the best lobster ravioli she has ever had. To top off our meal the 7 of us shared two tiger cakes. This was absolutely plenty for our party. Tiger cake is a layered white chocolate and chocolate cake with buttercream frosting. YUM! The restaurant is a small family restaurant. Seating is limited but staff are welcoming and professional. Would absolutely go again. Don't miss this little gem of a restaurant. read more

This is on the way home from work, so we regularly get take out and so I can't really speak to the dining in side of things, but the take out pizza is excellent - more of a gourmet style than the standard pizza joint, very well done. My company recently used Cucina for catering our holiday party. The entire experience was fantastic. From the options on the menu, to the communication during the process, to the delivery of the food and then the pick up of the hot boxes. Will and team were fantastic. Every single person at the party raved about the food and many asked to take some home, which we gladly obliged. We have been to the restaurant and the experience was just as good. Went there on a Thursday night. Bread was awesome and pizza excellent - though those who like more tomato sauce might be disappointed. The pizza was big enough for two. We also had gnochi with alfredo sauce and chicken, a very nice dish. Service was friendly and competent though the young lady who greeted us at the door was a little unfriendly. In terms of pricing the $19. pizza was a large size and had an abundance of ingredients. Would definitely go back. Obviously new owners, most of what was good has disappeared. We were in the mood for gyros about a month ago and since they were always pretty good here (with the exception of cubing the lamb rather than slicing) and they were consistent. We ordered and I picked up. When I got home my wife commented that they gave us chicken instead of lamb. I looked and knowing that lamb is a dark meat I agreed, the meat in the pita was basically white me. I went back down and told them they got the meat wrong, the woman behind the counter went to ask. I was told it was just a different cut of lamb. We are adventurous eaters and I figured we would at least try it. Told my wife what they said and we dug in. Clearly not lamb! Bland, no taste, called down there and told the person who answered that what we had was not lamb. She said she would get to the bottom of it, came back and apologized, they ran out of lamb so thought veal was a reasonable substitute. Now I must interject that I cooked professionally for almost 10 years and I know what lamb roll, veal, chicken, steak, pork, etc. look like. I thought the meat looked and tasted like pork. I checked their menu, found no veal but did find pork loin as a regular dish. Mystery solved. Fast forward to tonight, in the mood for gyros again, wife said we should go into Burlington to get them at another place. Since I came from the industry and knew that at times things happen and you make due with what you have, ( although every place I worked would have been up front about it) so I convinced my wife to give them another chance. We called and asked if they had gotten the lamb roll usually used for gyros and were told yes so we ordered. The meat tasted and looked like that we have gotten from Trader Joe's, uniform slices and basically tasteless, actually the TJ meat had at least some spice to it. Would like to say that was only strike two but in the interim we had ordered a pizza that was previously some to the best pie we've had and were equally disappointed. I won't go into detail as I have been wordy enough, needless to say it was a product of some place that is skimping on the cheap ingredients they are forced to use because business is down so they don't have the money to pay for quality. Used to be a favorite place to go for good pasta and pizza. My wife had risotto with scallops and I had pizza last night . Scallops were over done as was the risotto. My 6" pizza had more dough than pizza. The server brought us bottle of wine and left it on the table with out opening it. The food has gone downhill in my view. Bummer of a meal ! read more
