It was sweet and friendly., but my pizza was highly disappointing wasn't even warm by the time it came out of the oven, and my "GYRO" was literally inedible picture the most grizzly fattest, most FLAVORLESS frozen cheesesteak sheets you've ever had and then multiply that by 10. the " Taziki" is watered down yogurt juice with a few dill flakes in it. My friend and I stopped in here for lunch while we were in Burlington. This restaurant is located almost next door to Nectar's, the birthplace of jam band Phish! We knew we would probably be going out to dinner later that night and cider tasting, so we were looking for a budget friendly meal. The sign out front drew us in, it was just under $7 for two slices and a soda. Perfect! My friend added some meat toppings, but I think it only increased the price by $1-2. I may currently live in FL, but I spent 30+ years in NY, so I'm fussy about my pizza. I ordered two slices of cheese. I'm always a bit nervous to get an individual slice since they have sometimes been sitting a while (at some establishments), I usually prefer a fresh pie. No complaints here though! We grabbed a seat and waited a few minutes for our slices to come out. I'm happy to say that the slices were quite good! The perfect amounts of sauce, cheese and grease. I was pleased! We didn't partake, but I think it's great that Junior's sells locally made Citizen Cider. We stopped into that brewery later in the day and really enjoyed tasting various flavors. If I'm back in town and looking for a quick and reasonably priced bite to eat, I'll be here! read more

Everywhere on church street was either closed or had stopped serving from the kitchen so we resorted here. Ordered a chicken parm sandwich only to wait 45 minutes while inside the restaurant. The sandwich was soggy and tasted like it had been sitting in a Tupperware for 2 hours. I had also ordered a slice of pizza to come out with my sandwich but that hadn't been started till I reminded them halfway through my sandwich. The staff then proceeded to leave the slice in the oven long enough for it to burn to crisp. Came in here before the Warren Miller annual ski movie at the Flynn to grab a quick slice pre-show. A native NYer and being Italian, I'm picky about my pizza. The place was packed and as all I needed was a slice, I opted for a plain cheese that they ensured came out piping hot from the oven (as usual, I tried to take a bite too soon and scorched the roof of my mouth-I should know better). Although a bit greasy from the melted cheeses (like most pizza shops), it tasted great. The only thing that stung was the price: a whopping $3.13/slice. Now, a small pie was $10.99 which is far more reasonable, but it IS close to Church Street and it IS open 24 hours, so I guess supply and demand plus location (location, location) comes into play (ah, capitalism). I found the menu in general to be normally priced, so I think I'd get food here again (they even deliver), but not just by the slice. read more

I decided to try Junior's Downtown after hearing good things about it. Unfortunately the $20.00 Philly cheese steak was a complete disappointment. We ordered delivery and the pizza was cold when it arrived, there was a dusting of shredded steak, the cheese wasn't even fully melted and the dough wasn't even cooked all the way. For a $20 12" specialty pizza, I would have expected a much better product. If you're considering dropping $20 on a specialty pizza there are much better places in the area. Went over here for dinner with my brother, mother and wife a few nights ago, mostly because it was convenient. They offer counter service, which means you simply walk up and order. And unfortunately they don't have a license. We ordered 3 salads not really thinking how large they might be; they were huge. 3 of us went for the chicken parm, and the last went for a calzone. Again - just huge. My brother, who ordered the calzone, wasn't able to finish it all (and he's a big eater) as it was basically just a medium pizza folded in half. The chicken parm was rather large, and was just a basic fried breast doused with sauce and mozzarella. What was a tad annoying was they served everything (except the calzone) in takeout aluminum containers which meant that you wound up poking through the bottom while you were eating it. It's a pretty standard Italian joint featuring huge portions and a decent price. I don't think it's anything spectacular, but it was very good. read more

Piesano's serves my favorite pizza in Burlington. Big foldable slices, chewy crust, nice and saucy (so I don't have to ask for extra) and just the right amount of cheese. I usually get a large cheese for myself and it lasts a few days. I've probably ordered 10 times and it's always been very consistent. I'd give this place six stars if i could! It's perfect for a late-night slice. The pizza is delicious, and the tiramisu is amazing. The staff are very nice, and there are some nice tables to sit at. But the best part is, they're open super late! All the other places that are open this late are bars, which i can't go to. I think the 3 star rating must be from the previous owners, because this is by far my favorite take out in burlington. the grandma pizza is a bit overpriced and you don't get as much cheese as i'd love but honestly, for a pizza place the pizza isn't even where you need to be looking. The small salads are enough for an appetizer for 2. PLEASE do yourself a favor and check out their mexican offerings. I know it sounds strange for a pizza place but it is the best mexican in burlington, and their salsa verde is unmatched (seriously, ask for extra). I order frequently and only once has my order been wrong (clearly at the fault of the driver) and they refunded my whole order! I will admit most of the appetizers (except the crinkle cut fries) should probably be a pass, but for the homemade dishes i could not recommend them enough. The pizza: Excellent. I like a pizza that I can start with the crust and end with the tip :-)n NY style for sure. The experience: Great! The waitstaff is fare but everyone is friendly and accommodating. The price: A bit more than the other guys... but it shows in the quality. Other things on their menu are good as well. Garlic bread, subs, and their salads are not too bad as well! The only thing making this place lack a 5 star review is the price. Mr.Mikes, Manhattans, and Big Daddys are all competing with each other in this hot downtown location. Big Daddys is even more expensive with the same quality overall. Mr. Mikes is a bit cheaper but lacks the quality in the dough. Manhattans is greasier and cheaper but can be a hit or miss for awesome to bad. Possibly the best pizza to be found in Vermont -- and just one more reason why I have no desire to leave Vermont. Apparently this place started out in Huntington, Long Island, and they were smart and migrated to Vermont. The pizza is wonderful -- they have several pre-concieved pizzas to choose from. I personally had the Connecticut which has bacon, pepperoni and extra-cheese. OK, so maybe it is a "cardiac special" -- but it was damn good. The small pizza (which I happily polished off by myself), is small enough for one person with a big appetite -- otherwise you might have leftovers, unless you are there sharing with a friend, in which case there will be none to take home. The crust was nice and crisp and not too thick -- although they do offer Chicago style pan crusts for most of their pizzas. You can also order by the slice (but not their specialty pies), but I was just too damn hungry to just get a few slices. Their desserts looked real tasty as well -- but I left that to try for another time. They also offer pasta, heroes and panini's as well. Definitely worth a visit if you are in town and hungry for pizza. read more

Junior's Pizza is tasty, as is everything else on the menu, and always fresh, but when I'm thinking pizza I'm thinking organic or not, and Juniors does not seem to be organic so the price seems to be a little steep. I went with several friends and we shared a few salads, two garlic breads, and two pizzas and we ALL got very very sick!! Since we were all only together for dinner and all of us had not eaten at any of the same places or things earlier we all believe it had to be something from Juniors that triggered our illness. We don't know if it was something that went bad, wasn't properly refrigerated or fully cooked or if someone didn't practice good hygiene, in any case there really isn't any excuse for what happened to ALL of us. On other visits it was inconsistent at best. On every visit the staff is watching the TVs, talking, gossiping and fooling around. If there is supervision, or anyone acting as a manager should, I've yet to see them. Their Colchester location is much better and there seems to be more supervision of the staff and quality control. I am so in love with Junior's food. We were visiting from Boca Raton, FL at the end of July 2015, and my brother and sister-in-law took us here for dinner. We sat outside with their dog and enjoyed the beautiful weather. The owners came over and sat with us for a while, suggesting some amazing dishes to try. OMG.....EVERYTHING was AMAZING!!!!! We had a margarita pizza, scallops, calamari and about 4 more dishes that they suggested; one better than the other. YOU MUST TRY THEIR SCALLOPS.....a must have. I could go on & on, but my words do not do it any justice. We are planning a trip back to Vermont & as I write my mouth is water for more of their food.
