Loving the food here! We ordered their special. The pork is so tender and tasty. The sauce is perfect not too salty nor bland. The salmon is perfectly cooked and live the creamy sauce with pasta. The tenderloin is very tasty. You could tell it has wine. The carrot cake is divine! So moist and flavorful. The place is not that huge and always full but the service is good. The servers are very attentive. It has a relaxing feel inside. A good place to have friends date!

I have been to Cucina Bella in Algonquin many times. I was really happy to hear they just opened a location in the heart of downtown Galena. From the moment I walked in the door I was greeted with friendly, warm smiles. The decor is really nice and rustic. The 1/2 booth table was very comfortable. The tables are not overcrowded which is nice. The owner Tony was gracious and kind and he wanted to make sure everything was perfect. The waitress Mia was very nice, attentive and her service was on point from start to finish. The red sangria with raspberry was outstanding and the bartender was very sweet. The warm bread with sun-dried tomatoes was excellent! The grilled calamari with sun-dried tomatoes and asparagus, was outstanding, fresh, delicious and ample for two people. The chicken piccata with capers and lemon butter sauce was fantastic and also ample for two people. I will always be back next time I am in the Galena area. The restaurants around the Galena area have some tough competition! Cucina Bella definitely earned their five stars and they never disappoint!

Absolutely delicious and the ambiance is romantic. Lights are dimmed , Italian music in the background, topped with some fresh baked bread and you order a bottle of your fav wine. The food was amazing , I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo and also had a delicious minestrone soup, so good! We had the calamari and it was crispy and delicious! Let's talk about the service... our waitress was amazing! She liked our vibes so much she bought us dessert. Tiramisu on her.. she was the best! The whole meal was amazing, the night was perfect! That's all

First time here! Fabulous restaurant, food, servers and atmosphere! Ambiance is old world Italian. We came on a Sunday evening and it was busy! Glad we had reservations. I'm Italian so I'm rather selective about Italian restaurants. Cucina Bella exceeded our expectations! Great cocktail menu! Menu allows to create and add to your selected pasta, sauces and extras, shrimp, ricotta etc. With the entrees you can have a cup of soup, I had the minestrone and it was excellent! Or a salad, up charge for the Caesar and chopped salads. We had the gnocchi and chicken saltimbocca. Both were excellent and we had lots of leftovers to take home. Gabby was our server and though she had a lot of tables was personable, knowledgeable and had excellent customer service skills. Highly recommend!

The runners quickly brought us waters, complimentary bread, and a balsamic glaze/olive oil mixture to dip bread into. The menu had a great variety. My friend started cutting into her pasta and immediately found a hair baked in. We called our server over and they immediately took it away to remake. They offered a complimentary dessert but we kindly asked to comp the dish instead. The Rigatoni Mama was tasty and a good portion to share! With all the hardships, our server Hannah could not have been better. She navigated the situation calmly and professionally. She was very understanding and continued to bring a happy demeanor to our table. I could not be more impressed by her service level especially since the manager did not stop at our table to correct the situation.

More often than not, you're looking at another tavern-cut pie, a dozen televisions screaming sports highlights, and a menu designed by committee. Safe. Predictable. Forgettable. Then there's Woodfire. I ended up here with my family celebrating my son's second birthday and was immediately reminded that every now and then, hidden among the endless strip malls and chain restaurants of the Chicago suburbs, you'll stumble across a place that actually gives a damn. The Vodka Pizza arrived looking almost too good to touch. Almost. Hot Calabrian vodka sauce. Fresh mozzarella. Shallot. Pepperoni. Ricotta. Basil. A combination that sounds familiar enough until that first bite lands and the heat punches through. Not the fake, watered-down, suburban version of spicy that restaurants use to avoid frightening anyone. This pizza has conviction. It has backbone. The Calabrian peppers make their presence known immediately and refuse to apologize for it. Good. Food should have an opinion. The crust, charred, blistered, beautifully imperfect, comes from house-made dough cooked in a wood-fired oven that sits like the beating heart of the restaurant. Every pie carries those little marks of fire that remind you an actual human being made it. Not a conveyor belt. Not a timer. Fire. Flour. Skill. And speaking of things that deserve respect, let's talk about the bar. Kevin has become something of a local legend in Dundee. The kind of bartender whose name gets mentioned before the cocktail list. The kind of guy who understands that making drinks isn't about pouring alcohol into a glass. It's hospitality, theater, craftsmanship, and just enough mischief to keep things interesting. Still chasing the heat from the pizza, I ordered the Spicy Flamingo. A dangerous drink. Sweet enough to invite you in. Spicy enough to keep you paying attention. The kind of cocktail that disappears faster than you intended and leaves you contemplating a second before the first one is gone. Around us, bussers moved through the dining room like a pit crew at Daytona. Tables were cleaned before they looked dirty. Empty glasses vanished. New guests were seated. The machine never stopped moving. Then there's Chef Mason. It's obvious someone in that kitchen understands the difference between cooking food and feeding people. There's technique here. Knowledge. Discipline. But thankfully none of the self-important nonsense that infects so many restaurants once they start believing their own press. Woodfire isn't trying to change your life. It's not trying to educate you. It's not trying to be the coolest restaurant in the room. Like Ferris Bueller, it understands that life moves pretty fast. So instead of chasing trends, it focuses on making exceptional handmade pizza, memorable pasta, serious cocktails, and creating a place where people actually want to spend an evening. In a world full of restaurants desperately trying to be something, Woodfire succeeds by simply being exactly what it is. And that's a hell of a lot rarer than it should be.

The salted caramel donuts and the Cooper's Hawk steak and eggs were some of the best items I've had from there. Let's start with the salted caramel donuts because...wow. The outside has that light crisp, the inside is fluffy, and paired with the salted caramel flavor, they're dangerously easy to keep reaching for. Definitely a must-order for the table. The Cooper's Hawk steak and eggs were just as impressive. The steak was cooked exactly how I wanted, tender, flavorful, and not overdone. The eggs were perfectly done, and the potatoes were crispy on the outside but soft inside, which really pulled the whole dish together.
