Dim light, rose vase at table, simple elegant environment. Definitely noisy, but if you just want to dine no need to talk! Not biggest fan small tables and being elbow to elbow with other guests, but again it is popular Italian cuisine. Service was great, quick not rushed, Chef brought bread/olive oil, and pasta was house made special (delicious). The wine was excellent. Probably Best Italian dinner I have had in a while. I knew that I was going to be in Fairfield on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, so I invited Cielo to meet up with me for dinner. After spotting mouthwatering photos on Yelp, we chose Cucina Paradiso as our supper destination. Cucina Paradiso is a casual trattoria located in the heart of downtown Petaluma, on the town's main drag, Petaluma Boulevard. The restaurant welcomes guests to a relaxing dining experience where customers can enjoy authentic Italian cuisine in a comfortable, hospitable setting. Even on a Tuesday evening, finding parking in downtown wasn't easy, so we parked in the nearby shopping centre, River Plaza, which was about an eight-minute walk away. Our reservations were for 7 PM, but after I got held up in Fairfield, I called the restaurant to inform them that we were going to arrive late. No problem. Our arrival time was around 7:45 PM, we were immediately greeted with a friendly smile and still there was no issue with being seated immediately since most tables were unoccupied. The atmosphere of the quaint dining room was warm and hospitable. Cucina Paradiso offers old-school Italian fare, inviting guests to savour the flavours of Italy. Their diverse menu offers a nice selection of traditional pastas, flavourful mains and an extensive wine list. RIGATONI ALLA CARCERATA ($23.95) - Cielo ordered this delectable pasta. The creamy sauce, similar to vodka sauce, was worthy of licking the bowl clean, but we had to mind our manners. MEDAGLIONE DI BUE CON SALSA TARTUFATA ($42.95) - I was debating over these medallions and the fresh Halibut with capers and beurre blanc sauce ($34.95) featured on the specials of the night DINNER MENU. Our server hinted that the beef was the way to go and her suggestion was on point. This dish was hearty and the succulent meat was paired perfectly with the exquisite truffle sauce. PENNE RUSTICA ($23.95) - My hungry eyes wanted pasta, too, so I convinced Cielo to pivot our original plan of sharing a salad to ordering with me this this tube-shaped pasta. The sauce was much lighter than the one for the rigatoni. We preferred the creamier sauce, but this bowl was still very enjoyably flavourful. To complement the delicious food, Nydia's top notch customer service added to the overall experience. She was amiably engaging and extremely helpful. I almost felt like hugging her, "goodbye!" True story: After being seated at our table when we arrived, I briefly stepped outside to photograph the front of the venue for checking in on Yelp. As I was snapping the photo, a passerby asked me, "Did you just eat here or are you about to eat here?" I told him that I just arrived, had not yet eaten anything. He informed me that Cucina Paradiso is an excellent restaurant, that everything they serve is yummy. Turns out that he was right on target. Cielo and I enjoyed a delightful dinner here. We came in on a Tuesday evening. The restaurant wasn't too busy and we were quickly seated. The inside does feel a bit crowded due to the layout. We were seated at a 4 person table and were lucky there were two seats that weren't in the way of other diners, but had the restaurant been full, this would've felt a little too cozy. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. She checked in often and helped with the menu. I would highly suggest ordering an appetizer if you're coming with an appetite. We opted for the bruschetta, which tasted very fresh! It was on the pricier side for what it is. For our main dishes, I got the stuffed vegetable pouch and my partner got one of the pasta specials. They were both good! The orange sauce on the pouch did lack a little bit of flavor, but parm and black pepper did the trick! The veggies on the inside were cooked perfectly and were well seasoned. Our other friend with relatives walked in from the front of the restaurant. The bustling dining room was loud. Our server Juan was nice helping us how we were splitting our bills. One party of 5 separated their bill from us. We did not ask for wine to drink as we told Juan we came from the three places of wine tasting already. We just asked for cold and hot water to drink with sliced lemon. We loved the dip for the bread. My friend & I asked for Calamari salad to split. And we ordered the Ravioli di salmone and MAIALE. The other friend does not eat seafood so she ordered PENNE RUSTICA. The party of 5 (our friend & relatives) ordered PENNE RUSTICA, Insalata Paradiso, Lasagna Bolognese, CAPELLINI AL POMODORO E BASILICO & Bistecca. The food came one by one. The Calamari salad was so good. All we ordered were fresh and delicious. Except one friend said her Capellini was salty. She told the server & Juan was gracious picking up her plate and went to the kitchen. Later the server came with a new plate of Capellini. My friend said it was much better & able to finish the food. I had to wipe my sauce with the bread as it was tasty. I competed in wiping my plate with the adult grandson but he won in cleaning it well. We all just laughed. We were given the dessert menu. We ordered two Vanilla custard creme brûlée and Spumoni to share. Almost forgotten one extra cream brûlée for the grandson. The staff were wonderful & caring. Came here for dinner on a Friday night with three friends. We had a bad experience with our waiter who was extremely rude. I ordered a margarita and honestly it was so strong I wasn't going to be able to drink it, so of course I asked if they would be able to remake it. He aggressively grabbed it from me, my friend watched him pour some of it out behind the bar and within 15 seconds brought me my "freshly" made margarita. The restaurant also got really loud, it was difficult to listen in to conversations from across the table. I wanted to try something different so the wifey and I went across the river to Petaluma and found this gem of a restaurant. Upon entering, you are welcomed with a very tasteful environment with warm tones, rich woodgrains, strategically placed columns, arches and lighting. Upon quickly being seated you have traditional white linen and table setting. If the place is busy, and it does get busy because it's a great spot, it can get loud due to all the hard surfaces. Our server was very attentive and she quickly got us a water and our bourbon selection for the night. They have a very nice wine and drink list by the way... We were very hungry so we got an order of bruschetta on top of the traditional focaccia and olive oil. The ripe tomatoes and semi-sweet basil with light bitterness of the olive oil on top of the texture of the bread was quite the treat. I would go back just for that and a glass of cold wine as a snack on a warm day (I just talked myself into that lol). Moving onto the main event, I was stuck because there were several things that looked and sounded amazing. I ended up going with the Rigatoni Alla Carcerata and my wife had the Spaghetti Alle Vongole. Both were AMAZING! Mine had a tomato & Light cream sauce that was paired with the italian sausage topped over house made pasta that was just perfect. I had to finish it off with an espresso. Lastly, and this is a trait of a truly great spot, the service was excellent. Our server was attentive, well educated on the menu, efficient with the drinks and had a great personality. When I was 15 years old, my god mother and I stumbled upon a beautiful little Italian place in the golden eagle shopping center. We ate dinner there and instantly fell in love. The best Italian food ever, authentic , superb service, kind , welcoming owners, ambiance top notch. Everything about the place was 5 stars. We were broke but came almost every week for dinner. Celebrated my sweet 16 birthday there there and many other birthdays and milestones along the way. High school graduation, more birthdays , many celebrations with my god mother and family , my first date with my now husband, my 21st , my 30th Birthday and many more. 22 years later , just celebrated my 37th Birthday there and it's the same as the first day I stepped in there. Absolutely amazing as always. Haven't been in a few years due to covid and having babies but it's still my favorite restaurant in Sonoma county. Always has been. I made a reservation a month ago. Rogelio was a wonderful server. very friendly with great service throughout the night. We shared the burrata to start, and I had the Caesar (a bit on the fishier side, but still enjoyable). We kicked things off with lemon drops and a bottle of Beringer wine. Celebrating my sister in laws 60th birthday. Such a great experience. The service (Juan!!) was fantastic. So many bottles of wine and cocktails were promptly delivered. We had a set menu. The large charcuterie platters arrived and were so good. Bruschetta, cured meats, olives, incredible. Our choices were Caesar salad or mixed greens. I had Caesar, hubs mixed. Both were great. Hubs had stuffed pasta, kind of like lasagna, so very good. I had the tagliatelle that was enough for two and I brought half home. While he was telling me about Cucina Paradiso, another museum patron chimed in and raved about the delicious italian food he just had for lunch at the restaurant. So of course I had to eat there on my next visit to Petaluma. Well, I finally made it to Cucina Paradiso. Cucina Paradiso is a lovely Italian restaurant with white tablecloths, white cloth napikins, tables are adorned with a fresh long stem rose, dark wood furnishings, and it had italian music playing in the background. The restaurant was very clean too. I thought the restaurant was small, but i later found there is a large indoor room in the background of the restaurant, and an outdoor patio seating next to the Petaluma River. It would be a nice venue for parties and wedding receptions. I came for lunch and it was busy. It had a lively atmosphere with all the patrons engaged in conversation while enjoying their meals. The service was quick and friendly. The waiter was nice and made recommendations when I asked him what was the favorite dishes among the patrons. My water goblet was always filled without me asking for more water. The dishes are made with fresh ingredients. Cucina Paradiso serves slices of freshly baked foccacia bread, with an olive oil dip infused with garlic. Yum! Bread is one of my down falls! For my entree, I ordered Fettucine Con Gamberi E Rucola. It was delicious! It had homemade ribbon pasta, with lots of fresh shrimp, and arugula, all in a light red sauce made with fresh tomatoes and white wine. The pasta was cooked just right and you can tell the pasta was homemade. The shrimp was plentiful, and the arugula was lightly wilted with the hot sauce. My husband ordered the Rigatoni Alla Carcerata. Also very delicious! It had rigatoni pasta in a light tomato cream sauce with sausage, roasted peppers, and peas. The dishes were served optinally with a generous helping of freshly grated parmesan cheese and freshly ground black pepper. I wasn't able to finish my entree so the waiter boxed up my leftovers and put it in a nice brown paper bag with a Cucina Paradiso sticker on it. After lunch we went shopping in the area, and while shopping, I had a couple of people notice my bag of leftovers from Cucina Paradiso, and they would remark how much they enjoy eating there. To my surprise, the patio is a parking lot at the back of the restaurant where you sit by parked cars and stare at the garbage bins. How they call that a patio is very misleading. Our group had the Insalata Cesare, which lacked flavor, the Pollo Rotolato Arrosto, which was just ok, and the Penne Rustica, which was store-bought pasta with tasteless sauce. The service was also disappointing as we had trouble getting seated, even with reservations. We were sent through the restaurant to a street/parking lot in the back and had to find someone who worked there to tell us where to sit. You do have the option of eating inside or outside and it does get quite loud inside. We were a table of six and the two other couples that were with us eat there quite often so they had some great recommendations. We did bring our own wine and there is a $25 corkage fee but it's worth it. My husband ordered the veal. (Delicious ) I ordered the piradelli pasta. (Delicious ). Our friends ordered ravioli and Branzini(All cooked to perfection ) Service was impeccable. Never once did we have to ask to fill our wine glasses or our water glasses. I had a dozen oysters, not cheap, but oh so good with a light mignonette with the oysters and Meyer lemon slices to add more. Great! My wife and I shared the Insalata a la Casa mixed greens with a balsamic vinaigrette. Yummy! She had the crab fusili special and a glass of sauvignon blanc. I had the grilled swordfish special. I loved the light sauce of olive oil, Meyer lemon juice and Italian parsley. The swordfish was moist and tender, not like the dry and tough ones that I've had before that used to keep me away. Juan, our server was great as usual and pitched us on the special dessert a chocolate cake with raspberry sauce and some vanilla gelato. Four for four on appetizer, salad, main, and dessert. As an entrée, I started with the beet salad which has pepitas Gorgonzola cheese, spinach, crispy shallots and balsamic vinaigrette, which was amazing. The waiter recommended the gnocchi with Gorgonzola sauce and walnuts, and it was very decadent. In fact, I could only eat half of it because I was saving room for dessert for dessert. I recently brought a group of 38 retired seniors here on a day trip. We had a pre-arranged menu which included a starter of soup or salad, three delicious entres, and dessert. The service was streamlined so we could stick to our itinerary. The food was absolutely delicious-- as I scarfed mine down I eye-balled other diner's selections and they looked equally appealing. Everyone clapped after we enjoyed our dessert- tiramisu or sorbet! Yumm! I will return again with a large group for other day trips. I know I am in good hands here. This place does not disappoint! The food is absolutely delicious. If i have to chose, my favorite was the homemade ravioli. The veal is good too (especially the potato on the side). Both appetizers are so fresh. The carpaccio was sliced to the perfect thickness... Everything honestly was chef's kiss. the dessert menu has a lot of classic Italian dessert items, we opted for the semifreddo which not many other Italian places serve. It was the perfect ending of the whole experience. Came here on a Thursday night and so glad we made a reservation. The place is packed by 7pm, but not loud; as it is a classy establishment, dressing up is not a must but doesn't hurt to dress to impress.
