The sauce and meat really comes through in every bite which is the most important thing for me in burritos. The tacos are loaded with meat and onions. I always say a hallmark of a good taqueria is how good their carnitas are and Gonzalez has superb carnitas. Perfectly crispy and a nice smokey grill taste to them. After reading Matt Y.'s review, I came here to try their carnitas. He is 100% right. The carnitas in my taco salad $14 were terrific! The bigger meat pieces were tender and moist. The ends were crispy with bits of crunchy strands. The rest of the taco salad wasn't bad either. They use chopped pieces of romaine lettuce on top of beans and rice. Love that fresh lettuce snap when I bite into it. As for the edible tortilla bowl, this tasted fresh and not stale like some other establishments. It was fluffy and breaks apart easily when I pulled on it. There was a good balance of guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo and cheese. It came with free chips & salsa. Bring a jacket. They leave the front door open and it was freezing tonight at 8pm. This is the type of taqueria where you order and pay at the cashier. My food came out within 15 minutes. We ordered at the counter: - Al Pastor - Carne Asada - Griddled Chicken - Chile Verde All of the meats had a good griddled taste while the verde could have had more bite to the sauce. Lots of meat in the soft tacos. Favorite was the Al Pastor and Chicken. They also gave us chips and salsa. For a drink we had a horchata which was a bit watered down for our tastes. I was so skeptical about a burrito off San Bruno street. But this was actually an amazing burrito. It was so juicy and tasty. And I love the sauce they have. I called in to order it and went inside to pick it up. Inside looked clean inside and they had a tv playing if you had to wait. While I was waiting for my order at Taqueria Gonzalez, a senior citizen walked in and waited patiently in line holding her ice cream cone. This taqueria was decent. This KS my second time trying it out. Both times I have ordered the super burrito with steak. This time I tried the pinto beans instead of black beans. This time I would say was a lot better. The steak was fresh. Chips were fresh and not salty. The buritto has a lot of juice to it. The problem was that most places for a super buritto it's alot bigger and comes with cheese. This buritto has a decent color on the tortia. But the filling was definitely not a super burrito size. The sour cream was nice but I felt with the first bite being plain and just a mouth full of scour cream I was ripped off. It took about 3 more bites down the buritt9 to get pieces of meat. And also when they wrap the buritto the foil was wrapped onto the buritto. Which I know happens. But man come one it's support ro be a super burrito. I can be wrong, most super burrito has these standar fillings Rice, beans cheese, salsa and meat. And for a super we are paying got the guacamole and sour cream. But at this establishment their was no cheese. At least from the two times I have ate their burittos. But the establishment is clean. But it was a big let down as most taquerias I have visited during my 30 years of age the have salsa bars. And don't often charge for salsa. When I asked for extra salsa.
