I was unable to find a caterer that was willing to work within the time and budget constraints I had for this event which lead me to Yelp. I called CDC and Mrs. Tate and her staff where extremely helpful and accommodating. I was more than pleased with the presentation of the food and most importantly the taste. We stayed in constant communication and everything was delivered surpassed my expectations. I wish I could give a gazillion stars, the moon, the sun and my first born, Simba! Ms. Emma is everything everyone here says and more! She and Ron are kind, generous, hilarious, talented, honest and professional in every way. On top of that, they are good people--- in a town (and industry) where good people are few and far between. I travel a lot for work and knew that during the months leading up to my wedding, I'd be traveling extensively, both in and out of the country. She served as a liaison between the rental company (JC Rental) and us, went out of her way numerous times to save us money, gave priceless advice (that only comes from experience), checked in to make sure I wasn't losing my mind and then talked me out of tree when I was, worked with our budget (an understatement) and makes absolutely phenomenal food. Love at first bite!! My girlfriend got me a dozen Red Velvet cupcakes for me (and the folks in my office) for Valentine's Day. I love a good cupcake (who doesn't?) and I've tried all the 'famous' places - Vanilla Bake Shop, Sprinkles, etc. One bite in, I think my exact thought was "oh my god." The next was "this is amazing." Then "these are way better than the ones she made for me last year (oh crap!)." These are quite easily the best cupcakes in Los Angeles, if not the world. In hearing the story from the GF later, she said the customer service experience couldn't have been more pleasant, the delivery on V-Day was there by 9:30am, and the cupcakes stayed fresh, moist, and delicious - well, not for long, as they were snapped up pretty quickly. WOW!! What more can I say! This is by far the best catering service I have ever work with! Emma, the owner of the catering service and chef was an absolute pleasure to work with. She is extremely knowledgeable, has been in the business over 30 years and knows what she's doing. I found them on yelp and was impressed by their very high reviews. Now I understand that people are not exaggerating with her service. I first contacted Emma about 3 weeks before my event. We reserved a date and went over menu choices. Given the large amount of people (120), I went for the budget menu of appetizers. $10 per person, a complete bargain for such high quality food. They were able to set me up with tables, high boys, chairs and a dessert stand. I'll review the different aspects of my event in details below. FOOD: All from the budget menu ($10 per person) 1) BBQ beef tri-tip sliders (see photo): These were absolutely DELICIOUS! Moist beef, great BBQ flavor. I really enjoyed the buns they came with as well. We had so many left over that I've been eating them for days. Very filling. 2) Mini Deep dish pizza (see photo): Bite sized cheese (vegetarian) and peperoni pizzas. Delicious, baked to perfection. 3) Caprice Salad: The mozzarella was so soft and Moist, very flavorful. The tomatoes were ripe and I really liked the basil, salt and olive oil flavoring. 4) Meatball lollipops: These were delicious! The meatballs were tender, juicy and had a great teriyaki flavor. 5) Stuffed Portobello mushroom caps (see photo): This was another vegetarian option, the mushrooms were very fresh, the filling was a spinach cheese mix, really tasty. 6) Grilled Thai chicken Salad (see photo): Grilled chicken breast on fresh lettuce, crispy noodles with a chili Thai dressing. Absolutely fabulous. 7) Mini mac and cheese (see photo): This was a hit! It was so cheesy and had sun dried tomato pieces, REALLY GOOD! 8) Chicken Satay: Grilled chicken breast with chives and a savory sauce. Really good. Emma prepared some of the food on site, fresh as can be! We had our own desserts that a friend baked for us, but Emma and her staff set them up for us for no charge! SET UP: I didn't have to do a thing! Emma arranged table and chair rentals from JC rentals. She arranged for them to drop off the tables before the event and pick them up after. Emma let us choose a theme (I chose blue and gold for my Alma matter) and prepared fresh flower as well. We had five large tables, 8 high boys and a few chairs. The high light of the night was the bar, which had a light-up counter with changing colors, my guests lover it! SERVICE: The servers and bartender were all amazing. Everyone was so nice, even Emma was there most of the night to ensure that things went smoothly. The bartender was very knowledgeable. I purchased my own wine and liquor and the bar tender knew exactly what to do, very classy. The serves passed around appetizers throughout the event. They set up everything, and took things down and cleaned. It allowed me to be a guest at my own party, which was great. IMPRESSIONS: Professionalism: 5+ Food: 5+ Service: 5+ Cost: 5+. Our non-profit had Emma provide appetizers for an evening reception at a corporate conference space. The cost was not cheap, over $17 per person. Ultimately the service was very poor. The delivery vendor arrived an hour early. The foods was dropped off with no setup of any kind. There was nothing to keep our hot items warm until the start of the event. The hot items were cold from the start. The food tasted fine, but too many rolled sandwiches. Considering the service provided, we should have just got our own food at Costco. We will have many more events in the same location, but we will need to find a different caterer. read more

I found Emma and her company off of Yelp and decided to run with it since my fiance and I were looking for a catering company for our engagement party. I can absolutely say that I am so, so, SO incredibly glad I came across her Yelp page! At the beginning of March, I gave her a call and told her what I wanted to do. I wanted appetizers, a dinner buffet and a dessert bar for around 70 people. Emma and her team coordinated with me up until our party (mid April) to make sure everything was absolutely perfect. Before our event, we discussed my budget, what I was able to get within what I could pay for, what kind of food to have, and basically everything I needed to know in order to make the night go smoothly. They were so helpful and accommodating with everything; my expectations were very much exceeded! On the evening of the event, Emma and her team came over in the late afternoon to set everything up. They started cooking, setting everything up, setting the bar up, and making sure that everything looked good. As someone who often hosts parties, I really didn't have to do anything because I knew that they had everything under control! And then there's the food....omg the food was SO good. The mac and cheese and the braised tri-tip beef were EXCELLENT....and the desserts. I probably ate half of the dessert bar LOL During the party, they were cleaning, getting people drinks, setting food out, and cleaned and packed everything up once they were done. WOW...I'm not the first person to exclaim this...but it is worth repeating! Emma's cakes are the best we've ever tasted. My husband is not a big dessert eater but he does love a fluffy yellow cake with milk chocolate frosting! For his birthday I knew just what to do! I have yet to have any cupcakes as good as these in the city of Los Angeles....Sprinkles who?! Lol!...I met the owner of Culinary Delight catering through my father, and not only is she a great baker, but a sweetheart as well :-). She really puts time and care into each and every cupcake, and her effort manifests in their deliciousness. My favorite is the lemon cupcake with the cream icing...I remember my father brought some home for the family and they were so good I was even eating them for breakfast! Lol. I've also heard GREAT things about the Red Velvet cupcakes, but have yet to try them because she always sells out of them so quickly (they're on my "to-do" list though lol). All in all, I think these cupcakes are superb! And I am pretty sure all of her customers agree as I've seen how busy she gets around the holidays or special event times (from what I've heard she's even made Avatar cupcakes for an Oscar party!!). My 80-something year old grandmother can even attest to their goodness as she looks forward to me or my father bringing her some whenever we do (and sweets aren't even really her "thing"). I had to find a caterer for my father's memorial service, yet I no longer live in the LA area. As I usually do, I check yelp and read the reviews. After reviewing Culinary Delight Catering's wonderful Yelp reviews, I moved onto their website and loved what I read about the company, who they are and knew my dad would want me to work with them. Emma was fantastic to work with in so many ways; compassionate, strong communicator and worked within our budget besides being so helpful in offering suggestions that I may not have thought of. I explained what was important to our family and she far exceeded our needs plus her staff was awesome; friendly, professional and even offered to help us load cars when they done working and ready to leave. Now the food.... was excellent comfort food... we went with their winter menu and had the BBQ Tri Tip sliders, mac n cheese (heavenly in my opinion), fresh spring rolls, satay chicken, deviled eggs, caprese skewers, mini quiche, fruit platter and bite size desserts (crème brulee was fantastic). I know had my dad been there, he would he have had 3-4 plates and been happy, which was my goal. Just imagine that each of my five stars are worth two points because Emma definitely deserves a 10! I came across Culinary Delight Catering on Yelp and after seeing so many high reviews I was thinking "Hmm, this might be too good to be true" but for once it's not! I was the party planner for my friend's garden party in LA and of course the budget was an issue (isn't it always) so we had to take that into consideration. Emma worked with us to find a menu that would make the most of our budget. At the day of the party everyone was raving about everything and how delicious it was. But I do have to say, as good as the food and service was, that wasn't the best part of the experience for me. On the day of the party everything was running late and someone who was supposed to come early to help and go pick up the catering from Emma bailed, leaving me to go do it at the last minute. Well, with rushing and LA traffic and everything let's just say I didn't arrive in exactly a 'calm' demeanor. Emma stopped me in my tracks right away and said "Calm down. Breathe. It is what it is and being short on time is out of your control right now." She said everything would work out and you know what? It did! That was an unexpected, yet welcome lesson in just calming down in the midst of a "crisis" and putting things into perspective. I saw a review here from someone who had to organize a memorial service for their parent from long distance, which was exactly my situation. I called Emma and after 3 minutes of talking with her I knew we were in good hands. With everyone else happening when there's a death in the family, the last thing you want to be worrying about it the catering -- and I didn't have to think about it for one second once we settled on a menu. In addition, the food was DELICIOUS, super fresh and with enough diversity to suit everyone's food sensibilities. We had these little BBQ sandwiches and it was Emma who wisely suggested that we use soft rolls for them because elderly people sometimes had a hard time with crusty things. The fruit and desserts were beyond fresh and amazing; people raved about the little creme brûlées. The mac and cheese and BBQ was delish. Despite the fact that I think the estimated headcount was about right (100 people), there was a TON of food leftover, and with so many of us from out of town and unable to take the leftovers, Emma and her staff took it down to a homeless facility without charging for the extra effort that took. There was just a lot of love and caring in everything they did. On top of everything, there was a problem with the plumbing in the facility and they just rolled with it, let me know the problem without complaining and how they would handle it. I was truly blessed when I was lead to Emma, her husband Ron, and their company Culinary Delight Catering. I had a very special and unique occasion where I was trying to propose to my girlfriend (now fiancee) at a party with about 60 of our family and friends. The tricky part was that everything was a SURPRISE. To add to the challenge I could not be physically present on the day of the event because I was bringing my fiancee and Emma could not be in communication with me at all. Essentially everything had to be done perfectly without me. In addition, we held the party at a location that was cluttered with old junk which needed to be cleared out with only a few hours to do so. This place was where my fiancee and I first met. Emma had her work cut out for her. While I was stressing out of my mind with what I was about to do, Emma was always nice, calm, and very helpful. She went above and beyond everything I had wanted and the event could not have been executed more perfectly. Emma made EVERYTHING happen just as how I had envisioned it without any problems! She recommended and followed through with JC Party Rentals for anything I needed. She had her staff clear out all the junk and set up a grand and fabulous party area. It was all done quickly and on time. When I finally arrived and proposed (she said YES!) I was speechless and ecstatic. All my guests were raving about the DELICIOUS food Emma had prepared and also what a wonderfully delightful person she was. And it is definitely true what everyone else here is saying, her CUPCAKES are AMAZING!! Aside from the event itself, I had the pleasure of speaking with Emma over the phone and meeting her and her husband Ron in person. They are both truly genuine and spiritual people and just a pleasure to speak with! I looked on Yelp for a caterer for my event and saw that Culinary Delight had 5 stars and a number of reviews, and I see why. Emma was just WONDERFUL from the first time I spoke with her until the moment her and her staff (also amazing) left the event. I needed a caterer for my two children's graduation party and the moment I spoke with Emma I knew I was in good hands. She helped me with recommendations for the menu and recommended options for party items. She was so patience and professional with my many changes to the guest list. The day of the event she arrived with her efficient staff and they knew exactly what to do to assist me and the guest. They began cooking and setting up the buffet table and the bar and making sure that everything was looked good. Everything exceeded by expectations. During the party the servers were assisting my guest with drinks, cleaning up and making sure that the guests were happy. All of the food was OUTSTANDING, my guest are still talking about it weeks later. The Tri Tip was so tender and amazing. I also had 6 separate cakes and Culinary Delight brought 6 individual cake tiers and set up the cake table and cut and served the cakes to the guest.
