My wife and I got a fried chicken plate. First time being there. Chicken was over breaded, cooked to long. Potatoes were luke warm. Slaw was good. Tea was peach, which was good. Publix makes better chicken. She agreed. Service was great. Ambiance was good. Sunlight cutting right through the blinds didn't help us and others. Last night, we went to Culinary Dropout, and all I can say is AMAZING. From the amazing food, drinks, and service. The ribs fall completely off the bone, and the sauce makes you want to lick your fingers. I would definitely recommend it. My wife had the steak, it was good, it was cooked perfectly. I will say I wish it had a little more flavor. But it was still good. Our appetizer was the WHIPPED FETA & TAHINI DIP. We decided to try something outside our norm, and it was amazing. It gave the perfect balance between sweet and savory. The service was top tier. I love the fact that all the servers wore their own clothes it added to the ambiance of the restaurant. Our server Isaiah was amazing. Super attentive to our needs and added to the amazing experience we had. All a small shout out to Matt They also helped add to the experience. For months we watched for this place to open - but reading its press about it being - a "sports bar with music" - didn't hold a lot of promise. Luckily/surprisingly - we happened to drive by on a Sunday and it's parking lot was full so we pulled in to be told it was a "soft opening" and we needed an invitation. We used our age to get a "sympathy" exception and were seated at the big round bar in the center of the room - and discovered that for two - these seats were perfect. From what we now consider to be "our seats" every Sunday -we're on the front row to watch "Lex" as she shakes/mixes/and pours perfectly measured cocktails - like a machine - mesmerizing! TJ backs her up and makes sure that the coffee is perfectly hot for my friend, and always full, and having become accustomed to our idiosyncrasies - makes sure our food comes to us exactly the way we like it. I do believe we've had all but one item on the menu - but our favorites: the brussels sprouts with gojuchang seasoning - amazing - the tahini appetizer with the incredible toast points - the smoked Salmon appetizer - the pork belly nachos - yummm - and even the housemade chips!!!! The burger is amazing - the 36 hour ribs so tender (I get them with the sauce on the side) - the prime rib sandwich with au jus-just wow! They do a great version of "fish and chips" - and their salads are complex and flavorful. But I think the thing we appreciate the most is the ambiance the managers have created in this work space, and how the employees are encouraged to be their best selves, and how that allows them to make us feel like we're their favorite guests..... read more

I went here with a party of 2. The wait was about an hour, but it was packed. The service was excellent I didn't have to wait at all to order, for food, or drink and the atmosphere is great. However I didn't love the food. Nothing was bad I just didn't love it. I got the fish and chips and my friend got a salad. Portion sizes are adequate. Probably won't be back due to not loving the food, but it would be a good spot to grab a drink - they're a little expensive but they're pretty good read more

The two stars are for the wait staff and the good drinks we ordered at the bar. The food was a definite miss. The caesar salad with added shrimp was comical. The shrimp were tiny and had no flavor. The dressing was decent but the salad had two croutons and the portion was really small for the price point. I've had better salad at a Publix salad bar. We tried the sausage and pepperoni pizza and it needed more sauce as it was too dry. Also, the Parmesan crust tasted burnt. We also ordered the Korean steak which had a nice flavor but it was really fatty and the dish was mostly vegetables. It was just a small piece of steak with mushrooms and bean sprouts, no sides or salad accompanied the dish. It was more of an appetizer dish. For $38, I would think there would be more to this entree. I travel to Alabama often and I would not come back here. This was a one and done deal. read more

The ambiance was great, however, expect a 2+ hour wait on the weekend. The food was....okay. I ordered the Steak Frites, substituting the arugula salad for a house side salad. The best thing about the night was the live music and the drinks. The Evil Jungle Princess was amazing! They added dry spices on top, and the charred lime was a nice touch. Me and my mom went out for dinner here for the first time and it was great! I had the Pub Burger and she had the fish and chips-- both were fantastic and filling. We sat at the bar because there was a 2 hour wait time for a table (we went on a Thursday evening). Disappointing but not unusual for a new, popular restaurant. However, as a customer, it was really depressing seeing all these open tables (numerous on the patio and inside) that weren't being sat. While from a serving standpoint, I understand that you only have so much staff available, it was frustrating to see so many missed opportunities for faster seating purely for staffing reasons. The overall vibe and look of the place was amazing! Every bartender looked comfortable behind such a large bar, and our bartender was very kind and personable (can't remember her name, but she wore all blue jean material and a tie dye hat!). That said, while the food was great, there were VERY few options. The drink menu was twice the size of the food menu, and there wasn't much that was too new or interesting on the food menu (besides the Korean steak option). For the price, I was hoping for some more variety. All in all, a good experience and very nice staff! (I accidentally got hit with a broken plate shard that bounced off the ground, and they comped my drink!) Congratulations to the restaurant on what seems like a successful opening and thank you to the manager Payton (forgive me if I got the spelling wrong) for checking in with us before we left. My wife and I attempted to give the establishment a shot on a Friday afternoon. It was moderately busy. We were welcomed in by the bartender with two waters and a menu after about five minutes. We were never acknowledged again. After waiting to order for 25 minutes we walked out. Very disappointing. The service was deplorable. read more

I am completely aware of the issue we are having with the cost of food, so do understand that I am willing to pay well for good food. This was not it. I heard poor reviews of CD but I never wanted to just take someone's word for it... well, it checks out. I hope this is temporary and that there will be improvements later. We came for my fiancé's birthday so I made a reservation and we were seated right away, the food was very good, drinks were good and the turnaround on food to table was great. Our service however was not the greatest, our server Asiah was not the friendliest, she didn't introduce herself, she just sat there antipasti menu on the table with no explanation, she wasn't too helpful with the menu. She did check on us periodically but I'd say her customer service definitely needs work. Will probably visit again to see if my experience changes. read more

Went early on a week night. Average food prices to high. Had the Korean ribeye Cap steak and it was avg but small portion for $33. Friend had kale salad with shrimp. It came out without the shrimp. Instead of bringing out the shrimp separate they took the bowl back and she had nothing to eat for a while. Staff was nice enough but they dressed like kids with fanny packs. There just didn't seem to be an over all theme. I would give it a high C grade overall but not worth the price and not worth the traffic at the summit. I would not recommend to friends. read more

Ambiance seemed mixed, we were seated in an open side room with loud music playing on the speakers that clashed with live music playing on the other side of the restaurant. The wait staff was all dressed extremely casually and made it very difficult to tell who was an employee and who was a patron. The drinks we shared (old fashioned, perfect margarita, mango tango) were all excellent. It felt like there were more drink options than food options and while the food was good, the portions didn't live up to the prices. Overall, with a typical hour wait time for a party of two and the clash of posh prices and too-casual service I can understand why it's named the culinary drop out. read more

This was my second visit to Culinary Dropout but my first to this location. The service was good although it took a while to get our drinks. We ordered the soft pretzels as an appetizer and were very pleased. A couple of us tried the fried chicken for dinner and we were both disappointed in the temperature of the food. This location has only been open for a couple of weeks so hopefully these are just the growing pains of a new team. read more
