Turned out we just needed more potassium in our system. I should be paying around 30.00 dollars a month for the monthly service I am receiving. But instead, I've been getting charged 60.00 for not "returning the empty bottles" which is not true I've returned all my empty bottles. This has been going on for 3 months and when I spoke to the manager he said I was only getting 40 back. How does that make any sense? I have used Culligan's tank exchange service for three years, and until September 2021, they were fine. I received on time tank exchanges for my soft water system, all was well. In September, my exchange never occurred and after I finally decided to call and see what the issue was, I found that I was taken off the normal route without any explanation and that I needed to be added back on. I requested to have Sept-Feb payments reimbursed as we no longer wish to use Culligan and have been paying monthly since Aug but have yet to see a fresh tank arrive, and was told that I needed to speak to a manager. I was forward to the managers voicemail box, where I left a calm message and requested a call back. I've not heard a peep. I called back last week and reached their call center (3rd party) where I was told they'd deliver the message to Culligan and to wait for their call. Still nothing. Almost three weeks since my first reach out and no word from them. They were great, until they weren't. Poor response, poor professionalism, poor customer service. A most amazing and uplifting experience. Mark Nelson was servicing a household in our neighborhood when he discovered a small purse on the road. We bought our house when it was only 2 years old. The Culligan system was already installed. We began to notice that we would get intermittent low water pressure. At first it was once in a while and then it became more often. We also noticed this wouldn't happen when the machine was on bypass. Someone from Alco Water even came out to check when we were having low pressure and agreed it was the water softener. We call Culligan and they tell us there is no warranty on the system anymore because we weren't the first owners of the home. Keep in mind it was only 2 years old when we got it! Now I'm stuck with labor and parts charges piling up to get the issue fixed. Their warranty is crap so be aware if you buy home with a system already installed. When we move we'll be looking for a home WITHOUT the use of a Culligan water softener system. read more

It is bad tasting, leaves so much residue in the shower and you could see a film rise to the surface when you boiled water. Tried to get Culligan to come out to my place to do an installation. The girl who answered the phone said she would leave a message and some guy would call me back. Two days later, no callback. When I called back to see what happened, the same girl answered the phone again and said, "He's still out. I'll leave another message for him." Two more days go by, and still nothing. I called back and spoke to a manager who said, "Oh that sales rep is semi-retired and isn't answering that phone." Well, that's just great. This was a horrible experience. Unfortunately, Culligan is the only game in town and because they screwed up this potential sale, I have to deal with a faucet that's gunked up with mineral deposits. Everything was working properly before they came, just needed new filters. Afterwards, our tank only has approximately 1/2 gallon of water. One attempt was made to correct the problem, but that didn't work. 3 weeks later no one has called to set up a time to fix it and when I called the operator was quite rude and told me that a time was set up for Sept. 25th, I believe. Not satisfactory. When I requested to speak to a supervisor I ended up being disconnected. I called back and got a voice mail and no requested call back. So, what I will do is dispute the charge with the credit card company, send them a copy of this letter, contact the BBB and give them a copy, also, and contact Yelp, Facebook, and others, and explain why we are dissatisfied with the service we got this time. I haven't had this system long enough to write about the product, but I am writing about the service. From my initial phone call to the installation I have had nothing except great service. I called and had Alex the sales representative come to my house and test my water and as we knew we have extremely hard water. He told us our options and he didn't get pushy ever. Now to the install. The installers name is John. Believe me, this is the guy you want for the work. He is an honest above board guy. He didn't mind me watching at all, had a lot of good things to say about everything, didn't slam his employee, co workers or ex employees or anything , like I said, just a good guy. As for his experience, that was equally as good. He took his time, even showed me some good tricks to the trade while explaining everything he was doing. Mercedes and Irene in the Salinas location have NO idea what they are doing. I called to get pricing information from them and I let Ilene or Irene know that we are an office located in Gilroy and she said no problem they deliver here. Well, I set up everything and I thought it was strange she didn't email me a contract or anything but she said the driver would bring all of that. Well, our delivery date for our first service came and went and when I called Irene answered the phone and told me that they don't delivery to Gilroy? Well you told me that you did last week. She has me call the Santa Clara location. Ok I am not mad...yet. Santa Clara tells me that they are not taking anymore clients on and to call back to Salinas. Now I am yelling because I had stopped the service with my old water company because I thought "the culligan man" was going to come through. The manager calls me from Santa Clara saying that they will take care of it and call down to Salinas. Salinas calls me and said they will take our account and she just needs to call the driver to see when he can come by. She never called back. I called back and Mercedes answers and she says actually we can't take your account?!?!?!?! If you have made it this far in reading the review, congratulations because I am bored just writing it. This review is for our business, but I also have a system at home. The water in our area can best be described as "chewy to chunky." I was done with constantly replacing plumbing fixtures in our 25,000 square foot facility. I called Matt H. at Culligan and he made an appointment with me for the next day. After completing a site survey and reviewing our water bills, he was able to provide a quote within two business days. Once I approved the more than reasonable bid, Mark #1 called me to schedule the installation. (There are two Marks in the Service Department. I think everyone at Culligan has a name that starts with an M. Requirement of employment? I guess I will never know.) Mark #1 was very flexible with my schedule and made sure I experienced minimal disruption to service. Mark #2 came out within a week and did a professional job of pouring the concrete and installing the system. Dare I say, Mark #2 was almost TOO polite! (How many times can I be called ma'am in one day?) The quarterly service for salt delivery is a no-brainer. Why would I pay to send someone to Home Depot for pellets and risk a back injury as they lift 150# of salt into the tank? We've had the system for about 6 months and I couldn't be happier. I plan on saying goodbye to a new water heater every 5 years, crusty faucets, ruined RO systems, and corroded pipes so nasty it's like a science experiment gone wrong. I have had my system for a year. The sales person and the installer were great. Once they receive your money, they no longer care about customer service. This is a poorly run company. I signed up for a quartly service, they did not schedule a date or time for the service, they just showed up .... I was not home, they billed me for service and salt. I wasn't there, they did nothing. They did not apologize, but set up an appt. a week later. They refused to give an approx. time. I was told to leave a hidden garage door opener. The person came, didn't do any service and didn't put salt in the tank. He left a note on the softener stating I wasn't there. He left the garage door opener in plain site next to the door. Anyone could have gone in. The instructions were clear, put it in the mail slot. I was told it didn't need salt, it was half empty. Then he said, it wasn't working so I didn't put salt in the container. I had to stay home awaiting for someone to check the system. The guy didn't knock on the door or ring the doorbell. I received a call from Culliegan telling me I wasn't home. I opened the door... the guy was getting ready to leave. Salt was filled, system checked...it was working. They finally sent a calendar as to the next service date. I called a week in advanced to get a time frame. They don't do that...you can't find out until 10:00 the day of the appt.....oh and they might come at 730 am. I tried to call again the day before as I had a few important appts, I called at 8 am, no answer, 9, no answer...no message machine. Finally I got through at 100 pm. They had no idea what time, very rude receptionists...who do not care about customer service. read more

My good friend just told me that a couple of weeks ago, the maintenance rep came out to her home and when he left, she noticed several items missing from her garage. When she called the office to report it, the office rep said, "prove it!". WOW! I was stunned to hear that, as my friend is a mild mannered, mature, polite woman that would not accuse someone of such a thing without being absolutely sure of her observation of the items missing shortly after the rep left. My friend decided that due to the rude and dismissive reaction from the office rep, she would discontinue her long time patronage of Culligan's services. To which the office rep said, " yeah, I figured that"! Again, WOW! So, my advice is, if you are smart, either never take your eyes off of the service reps while they are in your home, or get security camera's. Good luck! read more

Approach with caution. Better yet, avoid. A Culligan salesman from this office -- a effusive, too-friendly, used-car-salesman type of guy, promising me the sun and the moon and all the stars -- sold me an installed pH adjuster for my well water several years ago. He told me that I could refill it with media myself. He sold it to me primarily on that premise, since I had been using a monthly canister-switch-out service by another company, which had become difficult to schedule, and that was why I was considering Culligan. The salesman's claim was a bald-faced lie. He also told me that I would get a full laboratory analysis of my water as a contract bonus. That, too, was a lie. He lied and lied, and then he lied some more. After I had purchased the unit and had it installed (requiring more -- surprisingly incompetent --plumbing work and expense than had been estimated), I contacted the Culligan office to follow up on everything the salesman had let slide, as well as to complain about the many installation issues I had experienced (including having my bathtub fill up with filter media). It was only then I I learned that, contrary to the salesman's assertions, I would have to pay to have the canister removed and refilled off-site every few years. That is an expense of hundreds of dollars (I think it came to almost $600 last time), and by then I had already spent well over $1000 for the system. With some fighting on my part, I did get Culligan to do the water analysis, but they just laughed off the dishonesty of the salesman. I am now stuck dealing with this office every time I need to get my canister refilled (scheduling service is no pleasure). I am stuck paying a bill for hundreds of dollars. I wish I had stayed with the monthly service by that other business You have been warned. read more

We couldn't be happier with the service we received from start to finish. From Bob who came out a day after we called to get an appointment to John the service guy who came out to install both units. Not to mention #1 guy Mark who came out to do the site survey. This all happened within 2weeks. This Saturday the reverse osmosis light stopped working. I called (on a Saturday) got an answer, yes a live person, who said a Tech would call me back. Within 30 minutes Angel called back. After hearing my issue he advised #1 Mark would call me Monday. Long story short I talked to Mark Monday, he worked around my schedule, had a tech out here within my available time frame and BOOM problem fixed. Would highly recommend this company.
