Sent by my home warranty to fix a toilet that barely flushes. Plumber asked if I "take a lot of medicine", said that can clog a toilet. I'm pushing 80, do take some pills and vitamins, but I don't flush any down the toilet. He said he would need approval for a replacement toilet, as drain holes were clogged. Called 2 days later to check status, was told they were "waiting for approval". Called warranty company, which took repeated calls to get someone at a call center far away. Poe's lied, didn't submit the request until I called. Hoping to get my toilet fixed before family arrives for Christmas. A blocked toilet shouldn't take a week to fix. read more

Our air gap was shooting out water like a geyser whenever we ran the dishwasher. We called a few plumbers but Poe's plumbing responded right away and came out the same day even though it was not an emergency. The person answering the phone at Poe's Plumbing was amazing and Jesus came and figured out our problem immediately. They charged $110 for labor and few extra dollars for the tubing. I haven't used my dishwasher yet, but all in all it was a positive experience. read more

Aaron from Poe's plumbing replaced my water shut off valve that didn't work and the hose bibb with a modern 1/4 turn valve. The work was beautiful craftsman like work with shiny solder joints on the pipe. He also replaced a gas pipe near the meter that was rusted with new pipe that was teflon coated underground and beautiful wrapped with tape above ground. The work was done at a price lower than some other plumbers quoted. He also offered the choice of trying a simpler repair that might not work as well at an even lower price. The "atmospheric river" weather system resulted in more water than our garage drain could handle and the water level in front of our garage was getting dangerously high. The entire Monterey Peninsula had no power so although expecting to reach voicemail, I reached out to Poe's to inquire if they could clear our drain on a busy and stormy day. Scott, Judy and Brian were awesome. The response was quick and professional. Scott and Brian were able to come on the same day I called. They cleared the clog with their hydro jet before our garage flooded. Judy kept in close contact to inform us of the timing. Aaron came out to our place in Carmel on a Saturday. He's awesome. He was prompt, courteous, and gave me a great plumbing education. He wore a mask and put booties on without me asking. He even made sure to not keep the door open so my cats wouldn't get out. I had a bad shower tub diverter (old Delta model) which he fixed. He also rebuilt the Delta ball valve assembly. This company was the designated plumber under American Home Shield. It took them three weeks to let me know that since our water heater was under warranty, they would not be covered for the repair. I called every day for two weeks for updates and learned through the home warranty company that the repair wasn't covered. Their lack of communication, and their dropping the ball on informing me and the home warranty company delayed our water heater repair for two weeks. I still have to pay for the repair out of pocket but will NOT use Poe's plumbing - The absolute worst - I am so disappointed, working with them was a complete waste of time. read more

The plumber was in our house second time a month ago and said that it would be fixed in a week. Since then we didn't hear from Poe's Plumbing. I called for service on Dec 30 2021 for a stuck sump pump. Serviceman performed temporary fix and recommended follow up and that a second pump was advised. O de the course of the next three months and called spoke to a man and a woman about getting this fixed. I received apologies and promises to get back to me. Never happened. After many months, I am still shocked and disappointed by the poor customer service we received at Poe's plumbing. If I could give this business a 0 star rating I would. My husband and I took a total of 3 days off work to accommodate their schedule and it was all for nothing. The first visit was an inspection and estimate. They were supposed to provide us with a written quote and they never followed through. The second visit was a repeat, as they could not find the details of the first visit in their records. This time, they followed through with a written quote and an installation date. The day of the installation, they never showed up. My husband called several times and spoke to the office manager each time. She told us there was a family emergency and that she would call us back with scheduling information for the same day. After many months, they never bothered to call us back and had no regard for our time. We make a practice of supporting local businesses but sadly cannot recommend this business. read more

I had a back up in my sewer main. Horrible situation to say the least. After having a sewer line camera crew come out, I found out I had roots from a tree in my yard that had invaded the sewer line. Constant back ups and a literal nightmare. I called Poes plumbing at 7 PM yesterday 3/19 and fortunately they answered the phone. Judy was very accommodating and scheduled an appointment for the next day Friday 3/20 at 1 PM. The plumbing technicians showed up right on time. Both of them were very professional and courteous. Usually a root issue like I had would require removal of concrete in the driveway and digging up the yard to replace the sewer line. Very expensive. The guys went straight to work and used a very aggressive auger tool numerous times to clear the line of roots. Afterwards they used their camera to verify my sewer line was completely clear of all roots. They then recommended the continued use of a root destroyer (copper sulfate) as maintenance every six months to keep my sewer line problem free. I would definitely recommend Poes Plumbing. They went the extra mile to ensure I didn't have to go through the hassle and expense of replacing the entire sewer main line to my house. As a general contractor I deal with plumbing companies often. I can tell you from personal experience that many of them aren't willing to take the time and personal responsibility to make the extra effort that Poe's did. Thumbs up!! read more

I was referred to Poe's Plumbing through my home warranty with American Home Shield. Just for some back story, I started my home warranty journey last year when I purchased my townhome in early 2020. I wasn't sure about getting a home warranty, and the listing agent actually threw in an annual policy with a different company. Well, as sweet as that gesture was, the old home warranty company was atrocious (WORST customer service I have ever encountered, HOURS spent on wait times, out of the ~10 people I spoke with each one of them had different and inaccurate information). Sure enough when you buy old homes and fixer uppers, everything seems to break at the same time. September rolled around and we already had plumbing issues with a burst pipe in the main water line, which when that happens, you just have to turn off the water valve for the whole house. Long story short, I had an emergency plumbing situation and my old warranty did NOT deal with it like it was an emergency, referring me to only one local company that did not provide emergency services, could not come to my house for a week, and had some of the most sketchy reviews I have ever seen (a huge contrast to the great reviews that Poe's has). So after a nightmare of a situation with my first plumbing emergency, I decided there was value in having a home warranty, but I was determined to shop around for something better. That leaves me to finding American Home Shield, which I've only had for 3 months now and I have nothing but positive things to say so far. And one of the most positive things I have to say about AHS, is the service provider that they matched me with, which was Poe's Plumbing. Now one of my good friends is a plumber and I always feel a little wary when I have other companies come in because I'd prefer to go with someone I know. However, I was so impressed with Poe's from the very start to the very end and would happily have them back to fix any other plumbing issues my old house may have in the future. I put in my AHS claim on Thursday evening, and I was contacted by Judy at 7:45 am the next morning - already super pleased by this immediate response. Judy was wonderful, and explained that as luck would have it, there was a morning cancellation and she could send someone out within the hour. I was ecstatic, said yes please, and already couldn't believe how different my experience was this time than it had been the first emergency plumbing incident. With home warranties, a professional has to come out to basically diagnose the situation before work can be done and anything can be covered. Brian came out around 8:30 that morning (I was at work so all the in person interactions were between our technician and my boyfriend who was home to let him in). He confirmed that this leak was from the drainage pipe that connected my upstairs shower and toilet, which had flooded my garage. After confirming with his company, he left to get his supplies and came back to the house within a couple hours, and did an amazing job fixing the pipe and replacing it with new (and much better quality) material. I don't know that I've ever seen plumbing done and thought "wow that's actually kind of beautiful" and that's exactly what I thought when my boyfriend sent me a picture of the finished product. On top of all of that work, he snaked the drain one last time and left us with a perfectly functional drainage pipe, in less than 24 hours of me submitting that initial claim. I know from experience that having work done like that in less than 24 hours almost never happens, and I was fully prepared to shower at my gym for the weekend and expected the work to be done Monday or Tuesday of the next week. This is a long anecdote but given my history I wanted to express my gratitude thoroughly and also recount very different tales of emergency plumbing incidents. Just moved into our house and after doing laundry the sewer line backed up (didn't think it was normal to see dissolved TP in the front yard). Our home warranty company (AHS) assigned us to Poe's and they were great. They called within an hour and the guy arrived less than a half hour later. He snaked the line and got it all cleared out. Our hot water heater was leaking, our AHS assigns a plumber, the first one couldn't come out for days, the second and third didn't answer finally we found one that answered, Poe's. Poe's was the only one willing to walk us through the process of shutting off our water and draining it. Judy attempted to walk us through the process to shut it off and drain it and when we couldn't, she had us send her photos of our heater and then she sent them to a technician, Scott. Because of the age of our water heater Scott thought it best to come out to Morgan Hill from Monterey to do it himself, after hours. He shut it down, drained it and put in for a replacement with AHS. It took a week to get an hot water heater due to our AHS warranty, process. AHS wouldn't provide any information regarding the timing of getting a new water heater, they referred me back to the plumber, Poe's. Needless to say I called Judy daily to follow up, she was professional, thoughtful, responsive and kind as was Scott. The two technicians who came out today to install the heater and bring it to current code were hard working, knowledgeable, thoughtful, kind and clean. They did a great job, setting up our hot water heater. I highly recommend Poe's their customer service is excellent, they really do care and want to help.
