Les installed the kinetico soft water system in our house and did an awesome and professional job. The company is Aqua Terra Water Service and we got set up with Soft water for the house and also drinking water. Previously we had a soft water system but we had issues with it. We have 7 people in our house with lot's of laundry and showers and the previous system would run out of soft water and we would have to recycle the water manually. This kineitico system has two tanks for ample soft water. The drinking water is a reverse osmosis with filters and does an excellent job with tasty water and does a better job than our previous system. Highly recommended. read more

This review is long overdue. Les guided us through the process of selecting, purchasing, and installing a water softener system from start to finish. He was professional and gave us all the information we needed on what was available and what would work best for us without being pushy. We needed work done on our plumbing before we could install our system and he recommended a contractor who came in and got everything done. We've had our Kinetico system for over a year now and we love it. Our water is softened and we have a filtered faucet in our kitchen that provides excellent drinking water. I called in Wednesday about a leaking kinetico talked to a guy names Les. Explained my problem to him the best i could, he had me send over pictures of the system i have and he scheduled an appointment for the next day. Showed up when he said he'd be here. I live on a ranch so i have super harsh water from my well and he opened the system up (which was a 25 year old system) and changed out seals and pistons and had it fired up and running in less that 20 minutes. I have recently purchased a new home in East Garrison, knowing the hard water situation I knew I would need a water softener system. As i started doing research online I found Kenetico. That was the easy part, but understanding the systems I had no idea about. My first call was to Culligan and Bob the dealer told me the price and what Culligan will do. Nothing about what system, or what it will do for my house. I knew at that moment I needed to look elsewhere. This is when I was introduces to Les. Les is the salesman, installation man, and the owner all in one. I did not know this at the time, but when I asked for his price an his thoughts he would not talk price over the phone. I live in Hollister and 6 years ago I was doing research on water softeners and wanted something cost effective and quality. That's when I found Kinetico, a no plug into the wall runs on literally your water pressure and salt. I dialed Les and he came out and explained to me in great detail what I needed and sized up a unit that fit my family's needs. We've had softeners in the past on other homes but decided to install a water conditioner from another company when we moved in 3 years ago. When I called for service (seeing LOTS of build-up) we found that there were no local service companies, and the nearest one wanted $2,000 to recharge the media - after informing us that they were brand new to servicing the company and had to get back to us to give us THAT bad news. We have very hard water and instead of investing $2,000 every 3 years for mediocre results, we decided to invest in a water softening system. Based on 5-star reviews on Yelp and other local social media sites we called Les for an appointment to give us a quote for a replacement system. Les was very punctual, and there was no hard-sell from him - only information about the system he sells and what our local water had in it. After discussing the options and cost (with Les actually telling us NOT to purchase a more expensive system, based on our home usage of 4 adults), we decided to purchase a water softening and reverse osmosis system from him. He was up-front that it would be at least 4 weeks before he could do our install (not what we wanted to hear, but I'd rather hear the truth than a lie), and almost to the day at 4 weeks he called to set up the install within a few days. Les was able to use some of the piping from our previous system but still took the time needed for a quality installation. He walked us through how the system worked, when and how to check the salt levels (and recommended going to Costco for the salt .. again, no hard sell!), and when we could expect to have to service the system as well as the general cost (WAY less than $2,000!). You won't meet a nicer guy, a more professional person, and a more honest business person than Les - and you won't regret purchasing your system through him. It's been over a month since Les installed our water softener and RO drinking water system and we couldn't be happier. The Kinetico systems are great. We have a constant supply of soft water, even during regeneration, with no noticeable drop off in water pressure (in a two story house). The K-5 RO system provides great tasting water and the faucet not only looks elegant, but also provides a very high flow rate. Les was great to work with. During his pitch, he didn't sugar coat anything. He gave us the pros and cons of the systems he sells, and directly compared the Kinetico systems to the spec sheets of the competition. He even debunked some of the myths we had heard from other salesmen about water systems in general. When it came time to negotiate, he was very fair and got us the systems we wanted at a price that fit our budget. My wife and I knew we wanted a water softener system and since we had a Kinetico system in our previous home decided that we would again go with this system. I requested a quote on-line and within a few hours received a call from Les at Aqua Terra Water Service. We made an appointment and Les showed up on time. My wife and I explained the system we had previously and wanted the same system. Les explained that he would be happy to sell us that system but that he could provide exactly what we want with a less expensive system. lime, iron, chemicals, and other elements try to get into our home every day. they bring some water with them. aqua terra provided us with an under-the-sink filtration system that allows us to drink the water and prohibits unwanted elements from entering our home-or us. les and his wife are fine folk, easy to work with, and i don't feel like i'm being up-sold or cross-sold when i'm there. my excellent rock star wife changes the water in our fish tanks with the much better/ cleaner water provied by aqua terra, using their 5 gallon jugs with the larger spouts. this costs $3.75 for 15 gallons, instead of $17 at the nearby grocery store - and we don't have to add more plastic to the landfill... her fish live longer, which makes my wife happy. when my wife is happy, my life is happy. read more

First off the vibe i get from a person, how knowledgeable they are and their behavior pushy not pushy or too much of a sales person has a lot to do with my decision making. Les Is great, we requested a quote and he came over to our home. Not with a sales pitch, but with honest answers to our questions and advice or help with getting what we need and NOTHING MORE OR EXTRA! We did not purchase the water system the first time Les stopped by due to finances, new home, new baby and he understood that when we were ready down the line we could reach back out to him. If you go elsewhere I am 90% sure they will sell you additional things you really do not need just to get extra bucks out of you. I soon learned I did not have to worry about these things with Les. I was given a quote by the owner over the phone to repair my R/O water filtration system for $60. The guy had a bunch of excuses why he was late, but he did call and let me know. He came in, looked at it and said he could fix it. $200 later, he attached a black rubber hose to my garbage disposal, which is not a sanitary way to do your drinking water. If you use him, get a firm quote before he touches anything. It will not be the price you were told. I got this guy on Angie's List, so I paid twice and felt swindled. He will try to sell you an expensive water softener while he is there too. Find a better plumber! read more

I did a thorough research on which water company to choose for our soft water installation and am 100% glad I chose Les and his expertise to do the job. He is quick and very honest and is extremely knowledgeable about his work. He came to our home and went in detail about reverse osmosis carbon filters ect. Over two years ago I was struggling between my need for excellent drinking water and my busy working schedule because as single I tried to do it conservatively and frugally, such as buying from vending machines, setting up small personal units for filtered or distilled water. Not only I often found myself out of water at midnight, or when extremely thirsty, but also often found something needed to be fixed or replaced in order to keep my drinking water clean and in good quality. One of my co-worker told me that Aqua Terra Water Service store in Salinas has the sweetest drinking water and gave me the number. I visited the store to taste the water and called Mr. Les Wilson very tentatively because I've alway thought that setting up a house system at home was too expensive for one person. It turned out that it was not as expensive as I thought. Mr. Wilson appeared to be down-to-earth, straightforward, knowledgeable and detailed when explaining his products, laying out all possible options for my case. Although he didn't try to oversell his products, in fact he had told me that owing to the different equipments, Kinetico drinking water installed in my home won't be as sweet as in his store, I found him to be trustworthy and ended up buying whole house water softener too! Since then, I've been completely worry free about my water needs and confident when entertaining visitors. Other than the initial investment for equipments and installation, plus a yearly need for adding salts, my monthly water bills are about the same. Mr. Wilson has also been responsive whenever I had questions. I surely will not go anywhere else if I happen to fancy some more new technologies concerning water.
