First, definitely get the empanadas! I was on my way to a gathering and decided to stop by this cute cafe to pick something up to bring to the gathering. I decided on 2 empanadas filled with tinga (shredded chicken), 2 empanadas of meat and potatoe, 1 filled with guayaba, 1 filled with rasberry, and 1 filled with strawberry. They were a hit! The empanadas are a good size, flakey, and are filled generously. My favorite was the raspberry filled. It was not too sweet and perfectly balanced. My husband loved the tinga empanada. Fantastic coffee shop I wish I'd found sooner! I must have passed it a million times without noticing--small signage and a busy area make it easy to miss. But once inside, I was blown away. The chicken Tinga and poblano cheese empanadas were fresh and flavorful, perfectly paired with the horchata and Nutella lattes. Friendly, attentive service made the experience even better. Since several of the longtime baristas left, the café has gone noticeably downhill. I don't blame them for leaving--it's common to see a single barista taking orders, preparing drinks, and making food all at once. As a result, wait times have increased significantly, especially if you order food, so be prepared to wait. My first major concern was with food safety. I watched a barista prepare my bagel directly on a countertop he had just wiped with a brown, soaked rag that had been dipped in murky, soapy water. The counter was still visibly wet when he placed my bagel on it. I politely asked if he could remake it, and he became visibly frustrated before tossing the replacement bagel toward me. Their rewards program is also unnecessarily confusing. On one visit, a barista refused to honor my free pastry reward. After trying to explain it, I eventually gave up and asked for a refund. I was quickly dismissed and told I'd have to wait several days because there wasn't a manager on site who could process it. The customer service has declined considerably, and the food has always been overpriced for the quality. If you're looking for great coffee in the area, I'd recommend Avondale Coffee Club instead. The coffee is consistently excellent, and the baristas are always friendly and welcoming.

Everything we ordered was fresh, made to order, and tasted great. The cashier was also very helpful in answering our questions because like another review mentioned, the menu doesn't include many descriptions. My friend ordered the chilaquiles burrito. The description was unclear so he took a risk, but he ended up loving it. I ordered the tuna melt after confirming with the cashier that everything was freshly made and it was fantastic. The tuna had the perfect balance of veggies and mayo, the cheddar cheese was melted perfectly, and the bread was grilled just right before adding the tuna. It was exactly what I'd been craving. For two people, including a tip, the total came out to $34. This is amazing for the area where many places can easily run you $60 or more for food alone. Overall, I hope this place sticks around. If they continue making fresh food and keep their prices fair, I think they have a great chance of succeeding. We already made plans to come back. Definitely stop by and treat yourself to some fresh, hot food.
