Update: They've changed their packaging and I am so pleased lol. I take back what I said. Their menu isn't as extensive as Judy's, but I absolutely love the food and they get you in and out. Honorable mention for the Large curry chicken from my last visit. *chef's kiss* This is a Jamaican carryout that I truly enjoy. Their pricing is great and you really get a bang for your buck on the lunch specials. My only issue is that they package extremely hot food w/gravy, liquids, etc inside of clear plastic containers with no seal (wrapped in plastic wrap). You'd be better suited to start using containers with the ability to close completely so customers can avoid spills when transporting their food. I place emphasis on packaging bc this isn't in the greatest location and it's more of a grab-n-go environment. Otherwise, the food is very good. I'm ordering oxtail later today. Culture cuisine was a very solid meal. I strongly recommend the curry chicken. The next time I go, and there will be a next time, I'm likely going to get the Mac and cheese instead of the cabbage. I've been planning on checking this place out for a long time, but never did it. I once mentioned to a friend of mine that I'd never had oxtails before and he looked at me with a combination of shock and disgust. I haven't eaten red meat since the 90s, but I was willing to break my Ripken'ish streak just to see what the hype was about. I called in my order, drove over there and it was packed up and ready to go. I ordered the oxtails with cabbage, red beans and rice. I gotta say, it was pretty good. The only downside was I got a stomach about 3 hours later, but it was more of "I ate something new or too much" ache instead of "something was wrong with that food" ache. Overall. The food was pretty good. The sauce had good flavor. If I'm in the area, I'd try it again. Went here because of the reviews on Yelp and was not disappointed. It was dark inside when you walked in but what it lacked in ambiance it made up for in flavor and taste. I ordered the medium size jerk chicken, rice and peas, and cabbage. I asked for the sauce to be put on everything. the smokiness of the jerk and the flavor was amazing. The kick was just right. I came in around 7pm, so I understand that they are closing soon and won't have much left. I wanted the oxtails and they were already out. So you get 1 main meat and 2 sides. Mostly everywhere I have been, you get 1 meat that comes with rice and peas or white rice, then 2 sides... usually plantains and cabbage. This place gives you 1 meat and 2 sides. The rice and peas or white rice is considered a side. The food was good. The price was very reasonable. A large curry chicken was only 12 dollars. I was upset because the box has 3 portions. 2 smaller sides and 1 larger side. The larger side has the rice and the 2 smaller side has the chicken... but he fills up the larger side with rice and 1 smaller side with rice, so I end up with less chicken. I've only been to the downtown location on E Baltimore St. the food is not that good to put up with horrible customer service. Employees ALWAYS have an attitude, asking a question you'll get an answer with eye rolls included. I've seen them tell customers in line that a item is out watch them leave and give the "sold out" item to some else, like they have favorites. The cabbage is good if you catch it on a good day. Don't bother placing a phone order the phone constantly rings. I'm an avid Jamaican food fan and I've had WAY better classic dishes. Now the jerk sauce is really spicy so if you can't take too much heat when they ask if you want sauce be aware they will put it on the rice and the chicken so you get no reprieve from the spiciness. Absolutely delicious brown stew chicken, cabbage, and rice. I had tried their beef patties a few times, which are great too, but today I wanted something a little more substantial. The rice and peas is delicious, super coconutty and grainy. Cabbage is delicious, too. Chicken is super tender, flavorful, and the gravy is awesome. The portion size is ridiculously huge for just $10, and yet I'm still going to finish the whole thing -- I had to write this review before I even finished eating because it's so good. We both order a small and there is more than enough to share, with extra for seconds that I am devouring as I type this review. There were other Caribbean staples to choose from and of course I'll be back. The brown stew chicken was EVERYTHING!!!! Tender, well seasoned, and perfectly accompanied by cabbage and rice. The jerk was good as well but covered in a bbq sauce of sorts that I could have done without. It was yummy but I prefer to go naked. I'd just planned to check-in but when I tried the restaurant wasn't listed. It could be because the name changed or it's just a well kept secret but honestly that secret needs to go bye-bye because the Culture Caribbean Cuisine restaurant is definitely worth a visit, or two, or three. I've been to the Downtown location TWICE. The First time I had the brown stew chicken, rice & beans with collard greens! OMG! It was so good. I wanted cabbage but it wasn't ready and opted for the greens. I was skeptical because I'm thinking soul food greens(not the case at all). The greens were like sautéed with a spicy kick! DELICIOUS! Needless to say the second trip I got the brown stew chicken again but this time I got the cabbage. The cabbage is good as well but I prefer the greens (go figure) lol!
