I grew up eating butterburgers on field trips and getting free custard vouchers after piano competitions. Nothing will top the love and nostalgia i have for this place. We got into madison pretty late, walked around the neighborhood i grew up in, got cheese curds at woodmans, and then beelined it to culvers for a late but so so satisfying dinner. When you're in Madison or anywhere in WI, you can't miss Culver's, a local favorite everyone knows. My nephew introduced me to their shrimp basket, which actually reminded me of the one from Costco. We stopped by specifically for it, and the service was quick and friendly. The fries, though, were a little salty and not as hot or crispy as I'd hoped. This is a busy Culver's on the west side of Madison. The team here is very courteous and kind. I specifically want to shout out Terrance, the man is just beautiful and so full of light. First time at Culver's. First time eating cheese curds. Our lives are forever changed. I get a fast food chain may not be a must try spot when you're visiting, but I would recommend making some time. I did like how you can customize the burger to your liking and the wait was very minimal. Since I was only visiting, I didn't sign up for the rewards, but we considered eating here the very next day. It's tough to say how the cheese curds were I don't have anything to compare them to, but we were a fan. It wasn't too greasy and the cheese was flavorful. Plenty of seating and didn't get too noisy even though there were families and a bunch of people dining in. read more

This is the first time I am having a meal at Culver's. I loved the concrete. I had a vanilla concrete with resees peanut butter cupp and fudge. Spicy crispy chicken sandwich was another thing I loved. I had a deluxe single butter burger and a kids butter burger. It was ok. Fried cheese curd was way too salty for my liking. It seems to be getting worse. I've had chicken on my salad I couldn't bite into finding out it wasn't cooked correctly. Undercooked. Today, I ordered two salads. They gave me once piece of chicken. I asked them to fix it and left the restaurant with a bag... it contained only one salad after I paid for two. They did seem busy, but I'm not sure if I want to go to Culvers anymore. I actually like Culver's a lot. I thought I'd never say this but I do. Culver's is a fastfood chain thats only found in the state of Wisconsin. They are known for 100% all beef non-frozen meat similar to what In-N-Out endorses too. Culver's is very well organized facility. Workers work very well together and every each one of them does what they are assigned to do in the most efficient way possible. Inside the restaurant is kept super clean unlike other fastfood chains. Interior is very neat, clean and modern, love it! Drive-thru is busy almost all the time too and just from what I see, I know Culver's is Wisconsin's favorite fastfood chain. So expect to wait in lines either inside or drive-thru. They are known for their Butter Burgers. My burger was super juicy with double patties that were never frozen. With added crispness from raw red onion, smooth melted cheese and crispy bacon, it was one of the best burgers I have had in awhile. I dont eat burgers too often, maybe less than 10x a year. The burger itself is super juicy and you are prone to get messy but who cares. No one wants a dry burger right? Buns are soft, moist and fluffy which also is a good feature added to the burger. Fries are super crispy and super duper hot when you first take a bite, so be careful! They are crinkle cut fries and sometimes, I prefer these over classic fries. Culver's is also known for their custard. I mean, come on it's Wisconsin, America's Dairyland as it is noted on their car license plates, haha. They have different daily flavors available on top of classic vanila and chocolate. Flavor of the day depends on the location meaning one location may not have the same flavor of the day as the other and vice versa. If you want to take some home, they have pre-packed custard in variety of flavors for $4.99 for a pint OR get 4 packs for $10.99 which definitely is a better deal! I had the Vanila custard and it was creamy, smooth and had velvety texture which I admired. I like these custard more than my other similar favorite, which is the frosty from Wendy's. Frosty has more, how should I say this, thicker texture compared to this custard. Smooth and light, velvety texture of custard is what I found to be more appealing to my personal taste. Amazing customer service provided by friendly staff as they bring the food to you after you order has been placed. Also, if you do the survey listed on the receipt, you can get a free custard! My Boyfriend says it does not expire as long as you do the survey and write that number down. It can save you about a little more than $2. I have been to other Culver's locations and every one of them had friendly staff with satisfying meals. Try it when you are in Wisconsin! You won't regret it! I know I am pretty picky but I really have nothing bad to say about this particular location. Even the restroom was cleaner than any other restrooms of fastfood chains. read more

worst restaurant to work at I worked maybe three months was kind of quiet but got what I needed done was even open to going upfront while hired for kitchen was open to spontaneous changes and even had to carry workers who did absolutely nothing upfront managers will gang up and cover their asses while acting emotionally basically keep your head down and you be able to make day because what you have to say means absolutely nothing and you have to remember that they're thinking process is we can replace you every time. I went here last Friday for a fish fry. We did not get greeted going in or out. The place was dirty. Hard to find a clean table. There were no portion cups for ketchup. We had to use a drink lid. The restrooms were dirty. Garbages full and used paper scattered on the floor. It was not busy. The food? Nope. Not good. Fries seemed old and some raw. The fish- small and mushy. And one piece taste off and had a bone in it. Eeew. I am from Baraboo,WI, home of a fantastic Culver's that is used for training new owners. It is always perfect. I confess that I'm not a fast food person but I had to have the Culver's experience. Their butter burgers are better than other fast food options and their ice cream and shakes are decadently good but it's their fish fry that I think is their standout. Cod that's breaded and fried to perfection and better than many restaurants. Their cole slaw is too sweet for me but the steamed broccoli is good. Also, I've noticed the the staff is attentive and cares. This must be due to good leadership, management, and work environment. Or they hire the right people. Or both! read more

Everyone here is SO polite. I'm visiting Madison with my significant other, and we come here almost daily for lunch. This is like the Chic Fil A of Wisconsin, and we wish we have then where we live in Virginia! Their customer service is beyond exceptional! Visit 2: The operator got my concerns submitted via Culvers.com and called to rectify the situation by offering replacement items. IF you decide to go here you need to explain to people what you want and how to get it done. It's like they've had no product or procedures training. They don't understand sizes are different. The cashier tonight told everyone everything comes in the same three sized cups that are out front on the counter (wrong). One of our sundaes was made with the wrong custard. We said nothing this time. They don't know about the "custard later" option or receipts so you can retrieve it. Dining room was dirty. The thought that seats must be clean and not just table tops eluded people. We had to ask for seats to be cleaned. Go here if desperate for the food but be prepared to act as a trainer because they don't quite have it figured out and I hope they do before a corporate person comes in! Visit 1: Waited over 5 minutes at the window for 3 scoops of custard. 2 of which were plain, 1 a mixer. Cups have literally one evened out scoop of custard for nearly $3/each. Custard doesn't even fill the bottom of the bottom of the cup, much less the bottom bowl part. Having association with another Culver's in then past, I can tell you these are way under filled per what the corporate directive is. Remember this is a franchise and things should be the same no matter what shop you stop at. Weight won't even register on a scale. The mixer has two pieces of cookie dough. They do not answer the phone so you can't seek remedy once you notice the issues later! There are many Culver's. Avoid this one. read more

If you're looking for disappointment this is your place. I don't know why I keep trying to go back. Not once have they ever gotten my order right. Tonight was an order of a root beer, a chocolate mixer with Reese's and snickers, and a chocolate shake. We got a root beer float, a cup with vanilla ice cream on the bottom half and chocolate sauce on the top half, and a vanilla sort of mixer. I have four free ice cream coins from previous visits. Everything went fine I let them know I was there and they brought the food out to me. It was super busy so I didn't get a chance to double check everything was there like I usually do. Now I am from jersey. I was in town visiting and I heard Culver's was comparable To five guys, which is what we are used to over there. There burger has a layer of butter apparently spread on their bun (I didn't check), but offer the same option as five guys where you can build your own burger. So I basically duplicated what I get at five guys with their burger (five guys has more toppings to offer though). The flavor of the burger is very very similar to five guys. The only difference is (if this matters) is that the meat seemed a little thicker and the burger actually stayed together, even with all those ingredients stacked, which made it easier to eat (wasn't falling apart). So this burger won and lost in comparison with five guys on different levels. At the end of the day Culver's burger wins. What would put Culver's over the top is if they work on their French fries. I think five guys fries are way more seasoned (regular or Cajun) than Culver's. My family decided to take advantage of Culver's menu, which has a lot more variety than five guys. They had the North Atlantic cod. I was offered a bite, it tasted great. It was served with a good tasting cold slaw too. Culver's wins on the variety department. Someone else had the cheese curds, which I wasn't accustomed too being from jersey. Tasted similar too mozzarella sticks. Now what prevented me from giving four stars was an older gentleman who was a food runner of some sort that was super friendly, cleaning the tables, and sweeping the floor during a busy service. I applaud this guy for being just a plain hard working dude. I can't really explain more than that. Working in the food service industry myself, I felt like I knew the guy already based off of how much he cared about doing how every worker should be doing. I visited this location in the summer of 2016 (I'm a little behind on reviews) and it was just fine. My gent and I stopped by on a weekday around 11 AM and ate in. As many reviewers have noted, this location still seemed to be getting its sea legs. The food was still a cut above most fast food places, but my order wasn't exactly right (my burger had some things I didn't ask for and also lacked some things I did) and the fries were just a hair underdone. The Culver's chain has spoiled me for expecting perfection so while my experience was fine it just didn't quite hit the mark. The restaurant does look nice and I like the updated look of the stone exterior and pendant lights as opposed to the more traditional fast food look of older locations with a lot of blue plastic and vinyl. Culver's isn't fancy, but their dining rooms, especially newer models like this one, are actually pretty inviting and I don't mind eating in. I used to live in this area and I wished for a Culver's so I didn't have to drive out to Middleton, but in retrospect I'm glad it was built after I left or I'd likely have gone way too often, service issues be darned. read more

I agree with the other reviews about the drive-thru. It's just such an oddly spaced area with the line going through normal parking spots. When it came to getting our sundaes though, the service was pretty quick. I came here for dine-in once as well. I didn't have a problem with my order or the food coming. I'm new to Culver's in general, so I feel like the number system is super inefficient. Poor employees have to go all around the store looking for me. Coupons in the mail are great, so I'll be here a few more times. read more

Grand Opening at Culver's! Of course it gets 5 stars because I'm one of the hundreds of people who, for some reason, found this a very exciting event on a Monday. Outdoor seating! A view of the Chik-fil-a scross the mall parking lot! A really big, bright, menu! What more could you want? And if you eat too much and get a terrible brain freeze, it's right by urgent care. I was in Wisconsin for the first time and told I had to go to culvers. The drive thru line was insanely long so I went in, ordered and got my food quickly. One of those days I guess. First of all I do want to give Culver's props for their consistently clean stores, friendly staff and quality food for what it is. The other day they were not on their game though. Here is the rundown of the comedic experience: Drive-thru, busy night. Placed and order which included two pints of the FOD. When they brought the food out the custard was missing. So I had to get out of the car and and go inside. I told the tall, young guy who was apparently in charge that I ordered two, was only charged for one and received none. Therefore I'd like the one I paid for, plus one more so I can leave here with two. He said he would comp the second pint since they missed it. Cool. However magically the bag with my original order number was right there and had two pints already in it. So, whatever. It gets better. So I drove home and unpacked the bags. All items accounted for so good to go. Mine was a pot roast dinner. Pot roast on sourdough toast, mashed potatoes, broccoli and a roll. Much to my chagrin there was indeed something missing...the meat. How in the world you completely miss the pot roast in a "pot roast dinner" is beyond me. I can only begin to speculate, but I was hungry so I made the 20 minute drive back to the store. Caught the same kid and he promptly had the meal re-made and gave me a coupon for free custard. I got home with my new meal and the roll was missing from this one. But in the end I do have a coupon for a free "Sunday". Not sure what that means, I'd rather have a sundae honestly. read more

This location is the only one that consistently disappoints me. It's only a few blocks from my house, so from time to time I will go there, but I am always left realizing that driving to Middleton or the one near Todd Drive is always better. Better food, better service AND this location doesn't enforce masks, so there is a constant stream of non-mask wearing people. This location is the newest in Madison. So the inside and outside are very well taken care of. It is easy to get in and out of on one side of Mineral Point Road. To cross, you either have to find a U-Turn spot, turn into the Mall area, or back track past an office building to the intersection with the light. Culver's is a solid brand of fast food. Fresh ingredients. I tend to just get food here, as I am never in the mood for custard or other treats after grocery shopping or before seeing a movie. I like this option versus McDonalds or the two chicken chains nearby. I'm glad I have this choice on the Westside. read more

Culver's is a decent fast food chain that serves above average quality fast food for an above average fast food price. The burgers are comparable to other great fast food chains, such as Five Guys and Wendy's. This location is super convenient as it's right next to West Towne Mall, and the service was good and fairly quick. The frozen custard is probably one of Culver's biggest selling points! Definitely try it if you haven't gotten it before. I've tried both their burgers and the chicken strips, and I would highly recommend their burgers over their other options. read more

This is about the only Culver's that I haven't liked. I went here just once so I could eat before going to the nearby planetarium, but there are reasons why this is the only disliked Culver's to me: They put too much grease on their burgers (the greasiest burger I've ever eaten), they also put too much grease on their fries, and then, this is the worst: I asked for a two-scoop sundae. Two-scoop sundaes should be 200% the size of a one-scoop sundae, not 115% like my sundae! Only reason this place redeemed itself is they took the sundae back and added the full scoop on top. There are other places to go before/after planetarium shows on the West Side, and there are other Culver's. Stay away from this Culver's! read more

It is extremely dangerous to have this Culver's within close proximity of where I live! I was kind of hoping there would be some colossal reason I hated going here so I wouldn't frequent it, but alas, there is none. I don't know who did the training for the staff here, but they did an amazing job. Every time I'm here, the staff are super helpful, friendly, and SUPER polite. They know how to remain calm and treat customers right if something is out of sorts. I just always know I will be met with a warm welcome and a "I'm happy to help you" attitude, rather than making me feel like an annoyance (as I have experienced from other places). Tonight, in particular, I took my turn too sharp while moving to the waiting area and hit the curb with my truck. When the gentleman who dropped off my food came to my car, he told me, "I saw you bumped the curb earlier. I just wanted you to know that your tire looks like it's ok!" I thought it was very sweet and helpful (because I was worried about my tire). I don't usually have to wait very long for my orders either inside or through the drive thru. The building is beautiful and modern (it's still a pretty new structure) and the inside is kept clean, too. I mean.... Culver's food and custard is delicious no matter how you slice it, but the above par service will keep us coming back to this location in particular! read more

The food was hot and delicious. I got a scoop of Chocolate and the custard seemed like it was better than most other Culver's restaurants.
