Same complaint as many others. Brought my coach in for a couple minor issues but mainly the Onan generator would not stay running. When it's hot out it will start but then within an hour die. Been happening for about a year, we tested it with the door open and it would run most of the time indefinitely. So anyway when I brought it in I voiced all this too the service advisor. I told him to make sure the mechanic tests it with the door closed because we know with the door closed it's overheating, which is the problem I was trying to solve. They charged me for the technician to look at it and then run it for 2 hours in an air conditioned bay with the door open. So of course it didn't overheat. So they call me and go oh no nothing's wrong. So I question them about it sure enough they ran it under the wrong circumstances. So then the service advisor goes back out turns it back on, runs with the door closed sure enough within an hour it dies. Well long story short almost $700 later they tell me yep it's overheating. Yeah I know that that's why I brought it in, what is the diagnosed issue? We're not sure but we should probably just do a thousand hour service cuz that'll cover everything. Well the generator only has about 850 hours So basically they just wanted to throw parts at it. I can take it to any generator or RV shop and they could do that cheaper than what Cummins would charge. I took it to Cummins for a targeted diagnostics But instead got stuck with a huge bill and no more information than when I brought it in. Second issue of the three issues they fixed.. I have a hydraulic parking brake that's connected to the drive line. They had to repair a hose that was leaking. Well after they repaired the hose they didn't add any of the lost hydraulic fluid into the reservoir. So the very first time I went to put the parking brake on it wouldn't engage. So I'm sitting there at my house trying to call my wife holding the brakes so she can come in hold the brakes so I can go out and diagnose the issue which was the reservoir was low on hydraulic fluid. I honestly didn't bother to call them about anything I mean how can you trust him if they don't even bother to fill up a parking brake reservoir which keeps the coach from rolling away. So don't waste your money going to Cummins thinking they know better, at the 200 plus dollars an hour your not getting any better service than anywhere else. read more

My Cummings Rv generator had been worked on 3 times and completely replaced in 2 years after I bought it new. The 2 year warranty expired few weeks before I could take it to Cummings. They would not cover it. Wanted $650 to just look at it with diesel fuel leaking. I took it elsewhere and they fixed it in 20 min for a fraction of the cost. It was a simple fuel line leak at its attachment. read more

The greeter was nice. Dropped off my RV for generator repair, recall repair, and oil change and was told they would call me with an estimate after they diagnosed the problem. I called 5 times, each time, they said a tech would call me back and never did. I asked the service person to go tap the tech on the shoulder and ask if they had an update and he said he could not, since he works remotely. Once I finally got a call back, I went to pick it up and they said the oil change was $255. This generator holds 1.6 quarts of oil and has a drain plug like a car you'd take to Jiffy Lube. I did not receive an estimate before being gouged on the oil change. The 2nd star was because the gentleman was nice when I dropped off the vehicle. When I asked why they never called me back, they said they are having problems figuring out their processes. read more

I don't usually write reviews, only if they are very good or bad. Today the Cummings dealer in El Cajon gets 1 star for being the worst organized company I have ever visited. Let me first say these are my opinions and I could be wrong. I made an appointment several weeks in advance to have a fuel leak fixed. I chose them as the Cummings dealer as my motorhome is powered by a Cummings diesel. When I arrived early for my 9 am appointment I was told they had me down for 10:30 am but they would see if they could get to it earlier. After 30 minutes of waiting two employees walked around my motorhome for about 20 minutes. They do need to verify condition to protect themselves. Why it takes two people, 20 minutes, I don't know? If I could not take a walk around video and write down all the pertinent information in 10 minutes, I would be ashamed. When they finally got it on the rack, the service person came to talk with me. He apologized for not telling me what it was going to cost up front. I don't know if he was new, or just incompetent. He said they wanted three hours (their minimum) at $263.90/hr. or $791 to analyze it. I told them that was ridiculous. I told them I might pay for one hour but I told them where the fuel leak was and that I could show them in ten minutes or less. After 4 hours I was able to leave. I paid them $262.90 to confirm the leak was what I had told them and they said it would need a new electric fuel pump that could be installed for $1917.42, with tax included. If they had really looked at it, they would have seen that there is an access panel directly over the fuel pump so removing the rear slide and bed, as called for in the estimate, would be of no help. They won't need to worry about me coming back. read more

Had diesel engine serviced and a coolant leak replaced. When I got it home, wife noticed mechanic had tracked greasy footprints all the way back to the engine access on the newly-cleaned carpets. I would have thought they would take a little more care, especially considering their labor rate of $462.80/hr. Laying down some floor coverings would have saved me from having to clean the carpets again. Now I have to worry about overheating out in the middle of nowhere in case the same lack of care was taken to make the repairs. Service manager, Robert, didn't even offer to pay for the carpets to be cleaned -- instead he offered a 20% 'discount' on future work. Like I'm going to take it back to them. read more

Had my coach for six weeks. $6,000.00. When picking it up found the insides with everything strewn around including coffee grounds and beans from some "race car" type road test driving I paid extra for. They didn't even have a vacuum or personnel to take care of it when I brought it to their attention. I think they have a real hate for motor homes with their products built in. I'll never take it to a Cummins dealer again! read more

My RV electric was partially not working and John Swanson, Cummins Manager, walked me through the Onan generator circuit breaker as well as connections to the 110 volts in my RV. He is professional, extremely knowlegable , and concerned about his product and customers. I would have any Cummins product repaired by this company. Hands down an extremely professional business with amazing employees. It's extremely difficult as a woman to find this type of repair company that's honest and reliable, but Cummins service department is amazing. Place is a rip off. Find another repair shop. I would not recommend them to nobody. Took my motorhome to have the Pac-brake repaired, they claimed it needed a new solenoid and replaced it. They said they road tested it and works fine. Took the motorhome and the pac brake was intermintent at best. Took it back and asked if they check the foot switch. They didn't, was bench tested and not working. They reccomended to replace the foot switch with a dash switch. Machanic recommended to leave the pac brake engaged at all times. Bad part of this is he wired the switch into the brake lights, so this burned all my lens covers on the brake lights from being left on. Went in to complain about what happened and they pretty much said its not there problem. So beware using this place, read more

This morning the Cummins Onan generator in my ShowHauler would not stay running and I was supposed to travel to Las Vegas today for a 4-day camping weekend at the NHRA drag races. I called John in service and relayed the problem. He said they were fully booked. After a few phone calls, John said just bring it in and they would see what they could do. I arrived and John had a technician "on call" immediately take my unit in for a diagnostic. Everybody here was great to work with. Robert checked me in fast and was super nice. Ian did the diagnostic in an hour. Parts were in stock and will have back on the road around 2:00 PM. read more

Professional, courteous, helpful. I had been buying my Onan parts online, however, I am trying to shift more of my purchases to support local business. Prices are below anything I have found online and they have an extensive inventory. It reminds me of the Allison spinon filter GM wants 45 dollars for, with the local Allison dealer charging six dollars for the same thing. They are happy to sell retail and work with the do-it-yourself guys like me. read more

This place was apparently well rated by rv clubs. I feel bad for those folks that are not mechanically inclined. They charged me for fluid that was not even used on my coach, the oil level was low on my engine and transmission! They left oil dripping on my engine and did not bother to wipe it off. They have a steep driveway getting in and out of the shop and they scraped my front bumper and denied they did it. These diesel motorhomes have good quality drivetrains and you see them break down out on the freeways. It is probably from people like these that dont do an honest service on your coach. read more
