We had just got our generator serviced the day before and were on the road for a family vacation. When we fired up the generator my husband noticed that fuel was leaking. It started with a small leak then it got pretty bad and we were losing fuel fast. We ended up capping the fuel from the tank and decided to hit the road. On our way we tested our luck and stopped in the Cummins in Ventura. The service department help desk was very friendly and accommodated us right away. They're technical, Briar, diagnosed on the spot and was extremely knowledgeable and was able to quickly identify the issues. He resolved the problem quickly and thoroughly tested to make sure the leak was gone. We so Thankful and Grateful to the whole team at Cummins Ventura for their time and their expertise. I drove my RV Diesel from the mid-west to California and had engine problems along the way. The coach was acting like it was starving for fuel and I barely made it into the Cummin's Ventura shop. Cummin's had the coach for 3 weeks and never called once to inform me of any progress. I called numerous times and continued to hear, "we've got our best guys on it." Fast forward - I was told they ran 19 hours of testing ($1,750) in charges and could find nothing wrong. There were 38 fuel errors recorded by the engine computer, but they could not duplicate. Mind you, they never actually inspected the fuel filter, air filter or any other part. Only after I called to contest the bill, did they agree to go back in and replace the fuel filter. During the entire 3 weeks they had the coach, they never called to advise me they were racking up billable hours. After I picked up the coach, they admitted that the only work they did was to keep placing a "diagnostic machine" on the coach - which allegedly confirmed, everything is fine. They also allege that they needed additional equipment to test the unit while driving it- so they "allege: they paid another mechanic from another local business - who had this additional equipment - to drive the unit 40 miles (3 hours) and could not duplicate. I finally picked up the coach, paid their outrageous bill and took the coach to a local mechanic with Cummin's experience. The local mechanic inspected the entire system - and found that both the fuel filter (I had Ventura Cummin's give me the filter they replaced) and air filters were clogged. Cummin's was unapologetic and held fast that they did their job. Personally, I like the people that work there, but I don't believe they did anything but go thru the motions of placing the coach on a machine to tell them what to do. They did no troubleshooting whatsoever, to resolve fix my coach. Unfortunately, these are a sign of the times. No one wants to work and finding people with actual mechanical or troubleshooting skills is impossible to find. I had used this same facility years ago with very satisfactory results, but apparently things have changed. Based on this experience, I will never let them touch any of my vehicles ever again and would warn anyone else from taking their coaches/vehicle there. read more

I have never had worse service from any provider of any service of any kind. Service manager would never call me back...over 10 times! They promised information to me and never provided it. They charged me a ton of money to take apart my generator, then could not find parts to fix it. They gave me a quote to fix it that costs more than the generator. I have never written a negative Yelp review before, but the terrible responsiveness, bad advice, and lack of follow through compelled me to write this to warn others. read more

AVOID - I echo the other review - and more. Getting ready for a tour across the southern US in the high summer in an RV - I needed have my vehicle equipped with a generator so I could use the AC. I reasoned that I should go the source and have the job done by the manufacturer of Onan generators. I paid at least a 30% premium and it was a much longer drive from my home - but I figured to myself, "I'd better get it done right by the people that know the system." Total out the door price was about $3,500. I was happy to pay this for the assurance of the job done right. The joke was on me. Almost every step of the way was botched. A simple job became a huge mess. The job took twice as long as they quoted - causing me to delay my trip. When they finally turned the vehicle over to me - I started on my cross-country journey. First stop - gas station to fill my tank. Within a few seconds - I was standing in a puddle of fuel....They had not reconnected fill-up tube to the fuel tank! When I looked under the vehicle - the tube was just sitting there wide open with the fuel tank side stuffed with a rag! I fortunately had enough gas in the vehicle to take it back Cummins - for another 1 day delay. SO finally got on the road with my family. A few hundred miles into my trip - the generator stopped running from Palm Springs to El Paso in 120 F heat. When I reached El Paso, TX I brought it to Cummins Rocky Mountain and they discovered that there was nearly zero oil in the unit and the fuel pump was defective. I had to rent a car and stay in a cheap roach motel (about all there is in El Paso) to get the rig working again. Most of the delay was the fact that Cummins Cal Pacific would not admit to anything done wrong and so I had to wait to get warranty approval for the service. Finally they did authorize and I got an explanation that 'some things' may have been overlooked and they said "we will give you your next oil change for free for the trouble." Further along this 2 month trip I had go to about 4 different Cummins across the US. Multiple problems were discovered - all of them could be attributed to faulty installation by Cummins Cal Pacific. I have no comment on them when it comes to servicing big rig semi trucks and large diesels - but if it is anything like my experience with my small onboard Onan generator - I would drive twice as far and pay twice as much before I'd go back to Cummins Cal Pacific Ventura. read more

I have the onan 7000, and after getting ripped off by 2 certified (supposedly) mechanics, cummins cal pacific, diagnosed and repaired what the other guys couldn't!!! For $1000's less! I wish I had gone to them first. The mechanic in Simi actually sold me a new generator I didn't need and kept my old one saying it wasn't worth fixing. After the same mechanical problems happened to my new generator , I went to cummins and they diagnosed a tune up! It was that simple! I wnt back to the RV guy in Simi to get my old generator back and he said I could have it with storage costs! WTF! Never got it back from him. Anyone know a good lawyer? It was the mechanic from Norway, can't think of the name of the shop. Behind A&W root beer. BUT ANY WAY, Cummins cal pacific got me running and out the door and didn't take my life savings! Don't even think about it. Having had several authorized Onan service techs unable to service an ongoing problem with my motor home's Onan generator to run effectively over a period of several weeks travel I visited Cummins Cal Pacific and requested that they take their time to evaluate the problem and write me an estimate to fix it once and for all. They requested I leave the motor home with them. I did and received a beautifully typed estimate running close to $3,500. When I recovered from the shock I took the motorhome to a RV service company in Oxnard, explained the problem and my shock over the price. The company owner asked me to leave the unit with him, which I did. Two hours later he called to have me come and pick up my unit, he had it fixed. The bill came to around $200 and the Onan has been working without any problems ever since. read more

We'd like to list everyone who was so kind and helpful to us when we needed it the most, and if we forgot anyone, that's entirely on my poor memory, not them! Professional service, clean location and somewhat helpful staff. I have brought my RV to them three times for service and once to use there dump station. The staff knows me by name. Had to have my Oman propane generator brought to them twice to be looked at for hard starts. They said each time they could not find anything wrong. Our RV has an on-board Onan generator with 110 hours of running time on it. Recently, the generator would start and run, but it was no longer providing power to the batteries, A/.C, or other circuits. After researching how to find an error code, I found that the generator indicated a code of 13 (low voltage). Not looking forward to an expensive repair bill to replace brushes or other service at Cummins Pacific, I called them on June 25, 2015 to request technical assistance. Although no one was available to help at the time, I was transferred to voicemail for Eric. I left a message, explaining what I needed to know. Eric called back shortly thereafter. He professionally analyzed the issue and explained that the error code only applies if the generator stops running. Thus, it was an old error code. Eric said that the problem was probably due to a tripped circuit breaker. I had tried to find a circuit breaker before calling, but couldn't find it. Eric patiently described the breaker's small, metal breaker switch and explained where to look.for it (to the side of the generator's stop/start toggle switch location). Within a minute of opening the generator's cover, I found the breaker. It had tripped, so I reset it. Problem solved! After running the generator for several minutes, I turned on the A/C and it worked fine. I don't know what caused the circuit breaker to trip in the first place, but now we know where to reset it. AVOID Cummins Cal Pacific! I generally keep bad opinions to myself on the internet. Being a business owner myself, I understand that most customers come away angry because of misunderstandings or miscommunication that is not entirely a reflection of the business itself. However, my experience with Cummins Cal Pacific has to honstly be the worst interaction with a business that I have ever had. I'm unfortunate enough to be the owner of a onan generator in one of my vehicles. I guess it wouldnt be so bad if the local service place wasn't so terrible. Generator under warranty? Expect your repairs to get pushed to the bottom of the queue, and don't plan on even getting the problem fixed at all! Their technicians are obviously not trained correctly because they could not fix my oil leaks and non-starting gen, even after multiple visits. They are slow, irresponsive (won't ever call you with service updates), and unprofessional. I went there multiple times for work to get done, they took up to a week every time, and I would still have the same problem when I took the gen home. The time and thousands of dollars that I wasted with these guys during the 1+ year that I struggled with them makes me shudder. Save your time and money and go to a better place. This entire outfit will overcharge and underperform every time, at least from my experience, and there are much smarter & friendlier gen maintenance places in this area. read more

These guys are great! I called on Tuesday and spoke with Brenden about an oil leak that a RV shop in North Hills created. I made an appointment for first thing Thursday morning and Brenden ordered the parts we thought it would need. I arrived at 7:20am and Jim took care of me like I was family. They got me in right away and did the fix. Then they pointed out to me that the fuel filters looked like they were never changed. I had them take care of that too. I had my coach towed to Cummins Pacific for unknown breakdown repair. Engine light suggested problem with Cummins Diesel engine. Ishmail was my service contact. He was professional, straight forward and very expedient. Cummins Pacific determined my coaches issue was not the engine but the transmission. After all their efforts, they set the coach up for repair at the Allison trans service center. I was shocked when I was told there was NO CHARGE. My Onan RV generator stopped working on a weekend trip. I decided to try out Cummins Pacific instead of my purchase dealership because everything at the latter takes 2 weeks+. I spoke to Amy who was GREAT and took my RV in the next day. The next day she called me with an update that the tech got it working but wanted to check something, if it was OK with me. He suspected and found that the control board installed at the factory was the wrong configuration. Intended for commercial use instead of RV use. They replaced it under warranty free of charge and called me to pick up my RV. It took two days total and works great!! I wish they did warranty work on the rest of my coach!! read more

We left for an 8 week trip but had to turnaround and come home because the dash air conditioning on our motorhome wasn't working. Charged $833 to change the oil in my engine, generator and air up the tires, functions I can do but paid them so I don't have to. Oil was spilled into the frame rail and not cleaned up, the tires were not aired up and a generator body panel was replaced improperly and broke a vibration damping mount. When I fixed the body panel myself, I moved it back to the factory marking, it was clearly not aligned properly. I cleaned up the oil and aired up the tires myself. I was seriously irritated. After I gave a poor phone survey rating, I was contacted by the service advisor, Ishmael, who disputed the body panel damage, claiming they used another method to access the generator. He did not know about the oil spill, did not know about the lack of air pressure, but supposedly knows the mechanic did not move the body panel. It was not like that before, I wonder how it suddenly got changed from the factory set position? He did not oversee the mechanic on anything else, but on that he knows? I am not accepting that. Ishmael was very nice and accommodating, however, this place suffered from the same problem as most service facilities, lack of mechanic oversight. read more
