I live very close to Cunard tavern and have tried it on numerous occasions. There's a strange period between brunch and dinner where the hostess will seat you and then you'll find out from your waiter that the kitchen is closed for a couple hours - wish we hadn't been seated. This place was probably the standout spot out of all the rest of restaurants we tried while visiting Boston! We stayed by the airport and our hotel was in walking distance of Cunard. We were greeted with smiling faces and the decor created a nice vibe. Our waiter Thomas was very nice, attentive and patient. We are all from the south so some things we may not be use too but he knew the menu and answered all of our questions. We all started off with the seafood chowder and when I tell you, we all secretly wanted to lick the bowl clean!!! Lol I loved how they added the pork which gave it extra flavor on top of the seafood! Ugh, I just wanted to keep eating on it the rest of the day! I also ordered the lobster mac and cheese. It wasn't bad, however, the only problem was that it was lacking seasoning. It was quite bland, especially going after the chowder. I requested some Cajun seasoning and spruced it up a little bit. I also tried my friends pork belly and it was so good. Plus it was quite crispy on the end gave the affect of the skins you buy at the store! The pork belly cook very and tender. The sauce was lovely! I actually wanted to add it to my mac and cheese. Lol The honey cornbread was my least favorite thing. It almost had a stale taste to it for me but my friends liked it. Overall I enjoyed this spot and will be back next time in Boston. read more

Ordered the Steak Frites & asked for them to cook it medium rare. They brought them out medium well boarding on well done. When I asked them to remake them our poor server seemed so nervous to ask the chef to remake them. After she went back into the kitchen I could hear the "chef" yelling at her (he sounded like a 20 year old frat boy so unsure about that??). In the end I got my new dish & it was just fine. Nothing to write home about. But the attitude of the "chef" was awful & I feel so horribly for everyone who has to work with him. read more

I've been to Cunards a couple of times and it never disappoints! The food and drinks are always amazing and the atmosphere is great. The chef and staff is always so kind and helpful, you're never left waiting for too long! My standout favorites are the Tuna Tartare (coming from someone who does not like fish normally), the burgers, the calamari (the best I've ever had) and the short rub sliders. I've been here about 100 times and this place doesn't let you down. The atmosphere and vibe are absolute 10/10. Does get a bit loud but their music playlists are great imo. My review is really only for the drinks at Cunard. We came here on the night of the Kentucky Derby, and sadly, the rooftop was closed, and it was PACKED. The host and waitstaff were very patient, and they worked to get us seated at a table, even though we were only ordering drinks. The drinks were delightful - a great blend of tastes and spices. The space was lovely too - accent wood that came from the shipyard/old boats, and a nod to the original Cunard. Definitely will be back! read more

I am not one to add a bad review, my parents owned a restaurant and I have worked in the food industry myself; with that being said i strongly urge the managers/owners to consider the reviews on this page. I have been here twice. The first time was around 2022 and I was entirely unimpressed with the food. I decided to try it out again a week or so ago because it seemed from social media there had been chef changes and that the restaurant was headed in a good direction. I planned a night out with my fiancé and I was honestly shocked to feel that the experience had gotten worse. There seemed to be a lot of tension with the servers who seemed miserable. I am sure that is from the stress of someone above them. The food was mediocre at best- plated beautifully but lacking in flavor and cooked carelessly ignoring any preferences my fiancé and I had instructed on. For such a beautiful destination this is a true waste, it's an insult to the potential of the space. With some good management and improved food this could be so great! read more

I wish there was a way I could give a 3.5 stars. This place deserves close to a 5 for their beers on tap and local craft beer selection which is usually rotating. I love stouts and this place never disappoints with the selection of stouts they always have so I am always trying something new. They also have a rooftop overlooking the water but you must reserve a spot for it. One thing the place can improve on is the food for sure, I have had many things from the menu and they are all average. The prices are also a bit expensive but I would go back here again and again for the beers! read more

We tried Cunard last night after seeing such good reviews for such a new restaurant. We were not disappointed. The interior was stylish but minimal, our waitress was attentive, and the food was phenomenal. I ordered the burger, which came with fried clams on it and a side of fries, and a saison. We noted (with appreciation) that there was not a TV at the bar, or anywhere else in the dining room, for that matter. While this could be a con for someone who wants to enjoy the game at the bar, we saw that the patrons were interacting with each other and the very personable bartenders. It gave the restaurant an unplugged, present vibe that was unexpected but appreciated. My only con (which is minor for a restaurant with so many pros within its first week or so of operation) is the bathroom. The bathroom is on the 2nd floor and the door to go upstairs to it is not marked. The hostess received a lot of questions about where the bathroom was, and it was kind of distracting to see people wonder aimlessly looking for the restroom. Other than that, it was an amazing experience and I look forward to eating there again soon. read more

Lively, loud, fantastic. The word has gotten out - East Boston has a new restaurant! Located close to Maverick Station, Cunard is in a relatively quiet neighborhood. The interior is bright and open. They have used elements of what the space used to be - a hammer here, a wooden sculpture there. The drinks are fun an imaginative (I ordered the Shore Leave - rum, orange juice, vanilla) and each uses a different kind of liquor. Popular appetizers include the fish tacos and octopus takoyaki. Exciting new place to eat and drink in East Boston. It's sort of hidden but street parking is plenty. Lots of tables and a small bar seating. They also have a rooftop area!! Great place to grab a drink and maybe watch the sunset. Drink menu is extensive and food menu has variety. We tried the Cuban spring rolls which were crispy on the outside and juicy meat on the inside! Dipping sauce was good too. The burger was pretty good and had fried clams in it. It was a bit much especially with the fries but still good and not soggy at all. Service was great and atmosphere was nice since they also had the windows opened. Bathrooms are on the second floor though. Will come back soon to try out more of their food, cocktails, and roof top. Super hip for up and coming Eastie!! read more

I have lived right by Cunards for years and tried it for the first time last night, I had the the Fettucine special (can't remember the name but it's truffle and has mushrooms)... so amazing, loved it! My husband and I had some really great local beers. The service was pretty good, everyone was nice and the food came out fast. The only thing I'll say is I wish their rooftop was open would've been great to see the view. read more

Really happy that this new watering hole came to eastie. We had the food here, no drinks on a Friday night. My sister had the grilled shrimp Mac and cheese which was really really good, I had food envy. I got the fried clams topped burger, it had the feel of a fancy burger but the taste combo of the burger and the clams did not elevate each other but was yummy each in its own right. The only large miss was the tuna crudo which we shared as an appetizer. The tuna was tasteless low quality tuna. Love the decor, above average food, prices were reasonable, would enjoy going back. read more

Came here with a friend since we were in the neighborhood and ko pies is closed on Tuesdays. Our waitress Danielle was fast and offered great friendly service. They have a good local beer selection with stuff from Lamplighter and Night Shift too. It's a pretty trendy space and has that modern exposed warehouse look with a large dining area. It seemed like parking was mostly street level though, and was definitely a neighborhood restaurant. In the mood for lighter fair, we only got a set of appetizers: two fish tacos, octopus takoyaki, the Cuban spring rolls, and the mushroom grilled cheese. Of these appetizers, the only standout was the Cuban spring rolls, which were porky and delicious. The takoyaki didn't seem to have any octopus, and was just overly sauced dough balls. Maybe Roxy's has spoiled me, but when I get a grilled cheese, I expect melty gooeyness, and not slightly toasted brioche with the cheese only slightly warmed. With having only ordered appetizers, maybe their entrees are better. read more

So close yet so far away.... .Went there on Sunday night June 6th around 7pm with the fellas. I googled the place and It looked very cool. Got there and it was nice setup...real nice. Went to the bar first...no one was around... So we waited like 5 min... Then we decided we would just grab a table...wasn't crowded. Asked if we could sit at the table...we did... Then we waited and waited and waited... Finally I asked the girl "who out person was for the table" . Hostess wasn't friendly either no welcoming feeling as a hostess should be... Finally after watching 2 guys and the hostess walk around the restaurant and still not come to the table ,one of the servers finally did.. we put a drink order in ... It literally took easily 20 min to get that....once he put the drinks down we downed them, payed for our drinks and left. We could tell how the night was gonna be so we just cut our losses. The server did apologize. Maybe this was an off night....but on a first time visit this missed the mark and this could be a really really good spot... phenomenal setup. I like to eat everywhere...all up and down the East Coast , we order big, drink big and try anything. I like to give a place two tries before I give up on them, so one more try and hopefully the visit will be much different. And if it is I'll do another review. Went for a friends birthday brunch. Drinks were slow to be served when the restaurant was empty. They brought the drinks out two at a time for a party of 8. With a good 5 minutes in between each delivery. Server did not know much about the menu, but it was a new version the day we had reservations so that could be part of it. However, the drinks on the new menu were not yet available (ingredients weren't in stock) so we couldn't try any of those and had to order from an old menu. Server also wasn't sure if my omelet came with home fries. I ordered a coffee and it took 30 minutes to be delivered to the table. No exaggeration. I ordered an omelet without cheese due to an allergy and I was served one with cheese. In addition, the omelet and home fries were bland and lacked flavor. Ordered their homemade donuts and they were rock hard. Couldn't even bite into them. Plates were not cleared throughout the dining process leaving the table crowded and messy. The majority of other reviews for this place are amazing so thinking I might have just gone on an off day or had a new server? Wish I could say I'd recommend this place to a friend, but was very unimpressed and wouldn't choose to go back. read more

With anticipation we awaited for Cunard to open. Sad to say, it has been a disappointment so far. I came with friends when the roof deck was still open and the downstairs looked promising but we wanted to check out the roof deck. The drink selection was very minimal and there wasn't a lot of space to hang out upstairs.That's okay though- we said to ourselves we will come back and drink downstairs in the future. Fast forward at least 2 months later, I came with the BF to have dinner after my yoga class upstairs and I had to really push the BF to come. Ah, after spending $66 BEFORE tip and we only ordered one drink as I was not about to ruin my healthy streak that night. We got the cuban spring rolls, the stuffed hake and the steak tips. Literally that is it so I have to say this place is pricey as hell. The cuban spring rolls are okay so I would say...come for the drinks and apps but please don't have the entrees. The wilted spinach- literally is what it's called was really salty and the stuffed hake tasted like it was made with old oil that they need to change. The squash was okay. It wasn't a very big portion but presentation is nice. The BF's steak tips tasted so gamey, i couldn't even finish a piece and had to spit it out on my plate. The fries were delicious though. They do a mixture of sweet potato and regular. I always want to tell them how I feel about the food but like what are they going to do if I tell them we both hated our entrees? I am one to spend good money on good food- so for me to spend this much on food I didn't like- makes me very unhappy. Our server was very polite though. It was a slow night which is very different from the weekend when I see it packed. I was hoping the few months were used fixing all those kinks out but alas that was not the case. read more

The stuff is really really nice. As others mentioned, their menu needs work in both areas - the food selection as well as their beer list. We expected a wider variety of craft beers. We shared 4 appetizers- spring rolls, wings, fish tacos and avocado mac and cheese side. Mac and cheese was not good - dry and needed more cheese. Fish tacos were really tasty! The best part about this place is their rooftop!!! Although the bar was closed, we went upstairs and brought our drinks with us. Nobody was there but the sunset there is priceless! Overall, I would only come back if their rooftop is open for drinks to enjoy the sunset. read more

Terrible service, food is below average. I strongly advise not dining here!! My friends and I went for brunch here last week for the first time and we all collectively agreed that this was the WORST food service experience we have ever had. The service was extremely slow and inattentive. I would understand this if the place was slammed but it was dead and there were at least 10 employees standing around doing nothing. Our mimosas took a solid 15 mins to come out after the order had been placed. It's just OJ & champagne, it's not that difficult... I emailed the restaurant privately a couple days expecting a response and no one got back to me. Take a look at the negative responses here and the lack of response from the owner(s). Clearly they don't give a damn and their customer service is a solid -10/10. I manage several food service businesses around Boston and this sheer level of unprofessionalism is sad and embarrassing. Cunard Tavern is a nice restaurant that is tucked into the Clippership area. The ambiance was friendly but the volume was a bit loud. But with loud noise usually comes good food, which it did. We started with the bacon wrapped dates which had a perfect amount of Gorgonzola in the middle. I got the shrimp and grits as well as the steak and frites. Both hit the spot and left me satisfied. The service was quick and easy. Definitely a place I'll return if I am on that side of Boston. read more

Love Cunard! Amazing food, drinks, and service. They have a really great bar scene that works for both singles and couples grabbing a few drinks and an app. The menu has a wide variety option and everything tastes so so, so good. They also host really cool monthly supper clubs that include multi course food and drink tastings. There is also a ton of free street parking and easy to get to. They also have amazing music playing at night. I really recommend Cunard for amazing food, drinks, service, atmosphere and scene. Five stars all around! read more

Since moving to Eastie this is now our GO TO burger spot. God damn... is all I can say. Last night my fiancé and I ordered two Boston & Albany burgers (mine I asked for sautéed onion and mushrooms added and rare, my fiancé got it as is, medium rare) and a side of poutine. Because we had Poutine as an appetizer, we asked them if they could give us side salads instead of French fries (if they couldn't do it no biggie but figured we'd ask) and they sent us salads which we thought was so nice. Both burgers came perfect temperature I literally was crying for joy as so many restaurants can do not do a proper rare burger and it's so bewildering. Call me a burger snob, the taste of the beef was fresh, the sides accompanied on the burger fresh and delightful, everything was amazing! And the coleslaw is too die for! Presentation of the food, the taste was just joyous per ever bite down to the last morsel we consumed was A++ please keep it up! You got us! read more

Cunard Tavern has become our go-to spot in East Boston - great drinks, excellent food, and fantastic ambiance. Their menu changes as the seasons do, and it's always exciting to see the new editions. Some favorites have been the shrimp tacos, crispy pork belly, watermelon salad, and mussels. Their cocktail menu also changes seasonally. While I was in love with one of their spicy cocktails over the summer, I am very pleased with their fall menu (I've already tried several!). The only thing that would make Cunard Tavern even better is a bigger bar area. There are only a handful of seats at the bar, and they are almost always full. A really awkward place in a part of town that's still in an awkward transition. Went in on a Saturday afternoon and sat at the bar. There were two other couples also at the bar, one a gentrified couple, the other a local couple. Worlds colliding was strange and uncomfortable. One of the hipster employees was "ironically" wearing a Whitney Houston shirt. The local gal said "oh you like Whitney, I love her". The hipster stared at her and said no. She then asked why would you be wearing the shirt if you don't like her. This conversation was a disaster. The bartender was blaring technopop off his ipad at an obnoxiously loud level. The drinks and food are VERY overpriced. They're not shy with the prices. Credit where credit's due, the burger topped with fried oysters was delicious and well worth visiting once to try out. read more

The quality of the food and service is just average. Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon, was a little busy but not all tables were full. I had to ask multiple times to find someone to take my order. Table next to me ordered same amount of food after me, but were served before me. Ordered breakfast burrito and steak and eggs. Burrito was dry and not seasoned. Lacked any real flavor or punch, eggs were overcooked. The burrito was just too dry on the inside with the hash browns and dry eggs. No salsa and the cream on the outside was too little to make up for the dryness. The steak was more on the rare side when we asked for medium and it also lacked seasoning. Eggs were cooked to order, hash browns were okay but cold. Expect better quality and flavor for the price. read more

This is one of my favorite spots in all of Boston! Frankie the server is so attentive passionate and quick. The food Is incredible, so tasty, and big portions. I got the short rib and it just fell right off the bone. Carlos the barista is also always on point with the cappuccinos and lattes. They have a great team.
