I've been going to Artisan Bistro for many years for pre-theater dinner. The service, even at 5:30, has always been slow but this year it moved at a glacial pace. In addition, the food was truly bad. Our salads were warm, wilted and overdressed. Simply inedible. The lobster bisque was just awful as were the other dinners. It's such a shame as the atmosphere and theater proximity are big pluses and in the past the food, while never outstanding, was at least fairly good. Also, it is not inexpensive which adds insult to injury. We may have to start looking elsewhere for pre-theater dinners. Too bad. read more

Reserved a spot for NYE and was rather let down. Our server was friendly, but we would wait 15+ minutes between each beverage (solid drinks, classic $22+ cocktails). The overall atmosphere was fine, nothing terrible but for their prices I was expecting a bit more. Our food came out at a reasonable time, but was underwhelming. My lobster roll was disappointing and rubbery, and my mashed potatoes were cold. My partner bought the steak frites, and it was not warm enough to melt the butter it was served with. We also ordered two desserts, and finished neither of them. Each dessert was $9, and were decently sized to be able to be shared by two people. For how much this dinner cost, it should have been much more memorable for great taste instead of disappointing flavor. Before attending the last show of Les Mis, I found Artisan at the Ritz for a fancy birthday dinner. Nicely appointed restaurant with a peaceful air. The wait staff was friendly but not greatly efficient. Were they short handed? The table beside me waited way too long for their food. I'm glad I gave myself 2 hours for the meal. It worked out ok. I had the mushrooms as an app (interesting but meh on flavor), the short ribs (came through as melt-in-your-mouth and best thing of the dinner), the asparagus (partially tough and flavorless), and a crème brûlée (ok but not exact) to finish my meal. I did enjoy the rich Australian Cabernet Sauvignon, although 2021 was not greatly aged. What I thought would be an outstanding experience was just .. good. read more

Breakfast Menu: Kids chocolate chip pancakes - perfect size of pancakes although my kids never finished the whole thing. Vermont yogurt - delicious Crispy bacon - delicious Bagel & cream cheese - a bit expensive but son loved it Cereal - son was happy that Sandra ordered fruit loops for him! We enjoyed a fruit platter, oatmeal, breakfast sandwiches & a kale Caesar with possibly the best Caesar dressing I've ever had. **this review is for the $1 oyster happy hour special (4-7pm) Conveniently located on the ground floor of the Ritz, this place was a great find for $1 oysters! On the day I visited, there were 3 varieties of oysters. I don't remember the exact names, but I enjoyed the two larger oyster types more than the smallest of the 3. I went with a group of 6 and we ordered 3 dozen, which was perfect. And for $1 per, you really can't complain. We also ordered 2 baskets of fries which were such a delicious complement to the oysters. They were dressed with parsley, a sprinkle of cheese, and perhaps a bit of truffle (?) - whatever seasoning it was, the fries couldn't have been more satisfying. Our servers were helpful and attentive. I will say that the overall environment and service felt a little stuffy/overly formal, but then again, it's the Ritz. read more

Myself and 2 other individuals went for brunch on a Sunday recently. Our reservation was for 11:15 and we had tickets for a 1pm show at a theater that was a 5 min walk away, so we figured we had enough time for a nice meal. We put our drink orders in after a couple minutes which was nice. It was then close to a 30 minute wait just to get our food order taken. Followed by an additional 30 minutes to get two of our three entrees. There was apparently an issue with the third entree which caused a further delay. We did not receive the last entree until almost 12:40, 20 minutes before showtime. The frustration caused by this made it impossible to enjoy any of the meal. The third entree was comped which was nice however I still can't recommend this restaurant. The communication was poor and the manager who was continuously walking around didn't even bother stopping by to apologize. For the price and the fact that it's the Ritz Carlton, you'd expect much better service. read more

This is my second time at Artisan Bistro, staying as a guest at the Ritz Carlton. The food is pretty tasty, especially the seafood options, and I think the prices are to be expected for a hotel-affiliated restaurant. Generally pretty quiet/not loud on week day nights - last time I went, we were a party of 8 with many academics, and the passionate academic conversation was unhindered by noise (if anything, we were the noise). The worst service I have ever experienced. We mentioned we needed to leave the restaurant by 7:15 to see a show. We got there at 5:45. There were only 3 of us and we ordered a salad and 1 fish dish and a scallop dish. We were not served for 1 1/2 hours! They didn't even bring a salad for 90 minutes! Abysmal service Ritz Carlton. We were served between 7:15 & 7:20. Needless to say we are in 3 minutes and ran out of there. They didn't charge us - but that's not the point. Artisan Bistro is part of the Ritz Carlton Hotel. This is a really nice restaurant for brunch. I really like the atmosphere of this place. I like the peaceful setting, the high ceiling and the simple decor. I love the crab cake eggs benedict here. The eggs are poached perfectly and the hollandaise sauce is delicious. The crab cake is not filled with batter like other places. There are actually big chunks of crab meat! There are some fingerling potatoes and asparagus on the side. It is a perfect meal for brunch! I also tried the french toast here before. It is also really delicious. I love the soft brioche bread that they use and the fruits that comes with the french toast. I also think the small individual jam, ketchup, tabasco, and maple syrup jars are really cute! This way you know that the condiments have not been sitting there for a long time and everything is new at the time you use it! The service here is excellent. The servers that I have encountered were all attentive. They always made sure that my coffee and juice were filled. The hostesses were also courteous. I really enjoy having brunch here! read more

I work nearby and stopped in for lunch with my husband. It was not busy at all. We sat at the bar and it took quite awhile for our order to be taken. Our drinks took forever to arrive. My husband's salad and soup came at the same time. There was no bartender behind the bar for the entirety of our meal. Every once in awhile someone would float behind the bar to eee if we needed anything. Our neighbors got very annoyed at how long it took to process their payment. It seemed as if no one knew what they were doing. While the staff was very courteous and friendly, the time for everything was incredibly slow. I have to say that my salad wasn't great with a weird herby flavor and large pieces of lettuce that I had to cut. Our lunches were plunked down on front of us on the metal bar with no placement or napkin and utensils. No water, no bread, no snack mix. I really liked the table we sat at. It was basically a "booth" but only room for one on each side. I found it very comfortable and intimate. My friend and I could easily talk to each other. They served two different kinds of complimentary bread- the garlic one was delicious. I wish we had had a bowl of just that one. Drinks: We both had the Grilled Pineapple Margarita, we had been told it was a popular item. It was not enjoyable at all. The tequila was completely overpowering, it is all you could taste. Every time I took a sip I was making all kinds of faces. Dinner: We both had the Brick Chicken. It consisted of 8oz Airline Chicken, Kale, Rainbow Carrots, Grits, Maple Mustard Jus. The chicken itself was ok-- a little dry. The rest was pretty tasty and helped the dryness of the chicken. The service was ok. Our server wasn't overly friendly and seemed a bit disinterested. Like when I inquired about popular drink items she didn't provide any further details about the two choices she named. *** The latte at the end was especially delicious, I will say that. The food didn't live up to our expectations but the service was awesome. There were definite hits and misses. My filet was cooked to perfection but the mushrooms and sweetbreads were overseasoned. The sweetbreads were also cut too small and you lost them in the sauce. The chicken dish was good but swimming in a broth, it was almost a soup. The flavors were good but the presentation should be revamped. Cheese plate was amazing and the bread was good but it was the same bread they start you with at the beginning which is overkill.
