I called Cunning late Monday morning thinking there might be an infection in my right gums. After looking up my records, the receptionist scheduled me for the next day & suggested that my 6-month cleaning also take place during the visit. Good news: No infection, just a minor irritation most likely caused by a food particle that had dislodged. I finally got in to Cunning Dental last week. Never ever did I expect this....my implants in two of my 5 locations were rejected and I have 2 options. I can pay $17,000 to have the surgery redone in these 2 areas. Or pay $500 to have the broken teeth fixed and wait indefinitely for it to break again. The implants were a total of $25000 for 5 in my uppers. The most unprofessional part of this entire experience is not a single employee from the Irvine office is able to be reached. I can't speak to anyone from my original location. I would have never ever paid for implants had I known there was the possibility of my implants being rejected. I have been a patient here for 30+ years and still have all of my original 28 teeth, all because of my half ass effort and My AMAZING oral Hygienist Kerry Cunning for keeping my teeth in such great shape for all these years! Honestly doesn't get better than Kerry, she has always gone above and beyond to make sure my teeth are absolutely perfect before I leave, which has resulted in zero cavities in over 30 years!! Today I had a little ridge on one of my front teeth that was bothering me and Kerry had Yesenia who's one of many specialities is grinding down a tooth like mine to get that ridge off, who knew because I was about ready to use my dremel drill, THANK GOD for Yesenia, she fixed my tooth perfectly, it's so smooth and no longer is a constant irritation in my mouth. I used to speak highly of Cunning Dental and would tell everyone to go there. It's unfortunate the things that occur in the dental practice. A few years ago, I received dental surgery to have teeth removed and was supposed to get all of my wisdom teeth removed (witnesses able to confirm this). While my mouth was open in the chair, the operating doctor told me it wasn't essential to have one of my wisdom teeth removed because it wasn't prevailing and said she'd remove the others. This sat wrong with me for several years knowing that doctor had poor enough ethics to ask me that while in the operating chair. Later, that same doctor told me the only route she could take on my mouth were "mini implants" in which she would have to go back to school to learn how to do the procedure. No one wants to be told they are a test dummy at an estimated price of $30k+. Then they stopped making appointments for me because they were at a loss of what to do instead of referring me out. My dental journey has been a tiring journey and initially Cunning Dental made me feel optimistic and staff were understanding of all conditions (to which most still are); however, I felt yet again discouraged to be proactive in my journey due to being made to feel like a test dummy and being served in unethical ways. However, due to Cunning Dentals understandingness of all situations previously, I decided to give them another chance today, in which again they're at a loss of what to do. They did offer a periodontal referral but cunning dental seems to just operate 4 days a week whereas they used to operate flexible hours. Additionally I was informed today that all 4 of my wisdom teeth are still in tact and not one was removed, despite being told the dentist was going to remove 3/4. Even after that, I was still willing to give cunning dental the benefit of the doubt; however, their hours of availability are ridiculous. Prior to todays appointment, I called with request to fix a chipped tooth, turns out it was a simple filling that I was told multiple times it may be possible to get today, yet they're not available to do it for a week and a half despite the doctor emphasizing the urgency to fix it. In my initial call I called to request an appointment to fix the tooth and was told ok but after being called about billing is when I found out it was for X-rays and they may be able to fix it that day. I drove an hour and 45 mins to drive back and wasted my X-rays at cunning dental but I will be finding a new dentist. Updated review after response. read more

The bedside manner has improved considerably in recent years, in no small part thanks to Joe, the dental assistant, whose professionalism is a 10/10. That said, I feel any health-care facility should insist that their reception staff appear as if they respected their own health and did some trimming down. Assuming 'inclusiveness' to be an aspect of your overall hiring philosophy, I question why the reception staff, in its entirety, appears to be less than healthy, and more healthy-appearing people aren't at all included within that scope. read more

I wish I could say I have been to the dentist a lot in my life. I have not. I have struggled to maintain my insurance over the years, and even though I am a working actor and my smile is very important to me, in recent years, I had resigned myself to taking trips to Mexico where I could afford the teeth cleaning and cavity work I have needed. But you get what you pay for when you aren't working with the best- and those trips have left me with some real problem areas that needed attention. I happened to come upon Cunning Dental because a friend of mine was producing their newest round of commercials. It was brought to my attention that the previously owned practice was not as well maintained as it could be, but that they are working hard to reinvent the business and show people what great new ownership can provide. Walking around the facility, I was blown away. Every dentist, hygienist, and employee there is so knowledgeable, and so friendly. All of their technology is extremely advanced, and they are a one stop shop and specialize in sleep dentistry. While I was initially there in an official capacity as an actor, I had the opportunity to speak to Genaro, who has been tasked with the enormous job of cultivating more trust in the business. A lot of people naturally mistrust the dentist! And our teeth are so important! He was warm, intelligent, and we immediately landed on the conversation of my dental health, and how he could help me to afford to better cultivate and maintain my smile. Two crowns, a root canal, and a cleaning later, and I found Cunning Dental to be not only affordable, but accommodating as well. These guys are the best! And I feel confident to continue on as a regular patient and schedule cleanings, now that I have accomplished some of the things I otherwise would have had to fly to Mexico to do.
